  • Enjoy these people while they're still here. After guys like this are gone, they're gone, and that's it. We used to get Glen Campbell, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Emmylou Harris, Carly Simon, Carole King and Joni Mitchell. Now we get 50cent, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Meh.

  • Beautiful! Anyone know how to get this audio track as an mp3? Thanks.

  • oh my, I just melted ..

  • WAS THIS DURING THE TIME HE WAS COKED UP AND BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF TANYA TUCKER?

  • Sad. When they talk of great singers and songwriters of the 70's it is always Elton, Billy, Sweet Baby James, Carly, and Carol and seldom does Jim come up. But real musicians know true talent. Shit man even Jerry Reed did a whole fuckin album of the Philly natives songs! Jim and Maury gave us some of the most beautiful songs and simple yet timeless arrangements that are treasured almost 40 yrs after that tragic plane crash. RIP:(

  • smooth.

  • Glen does a good job on this.

  • He will always be a Living Legend, A beautil voice.

  • fuck

  • Glen Campbell is a Legend in his own time. It is soooooooo sad that he has Alzheimers.

  • oooo im a dumass sorry

  • this is awesome.. amazing. i loved it. real and real and real

  • this is awesome.. amazing. i loved it. real and real and real

  • Hangover

  • @gasmaskman2

I hope you realize that the version in Hangover 2 is Jim Croce, who wrote the song.

  • uhhhhhh.... HANGOVER 2!!!!!!!!

  • One of the great voices of all time. Glen has the versatility to sing and play so many songs that most "country singers" could never tackle.

  • This is the best version of this song that I have heard, sung with such feeling... don't write them like this anymore

  • Glen is the best there ever was. I have often said that if I was good looking like him and had his talent, I would have been famous, too.

  • not heard this in so many years ,,great.

  • exquisite - simple, honest and moving

  • Besides Croce himself, this is one of the best renditions I've heard by another artist. He's true to the spirit of the song while making it distinctively his own.

  • I played in Glen's band for about 6 years in the mid 80s early 90s and never played this with him, but it's beautiful and just another of the remarkable ways he makes every song his own. I continue to have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Glen as a musician, singer, entertainer and human being.

  • Have a look at Dave Lennard he is a new singer

  • just magic :)

  • There is a bassist playing along with Glen's guitar.

  • There is something about his voice, just beautiful. I can't even sing along with his songs because I don't want to miss his voice!

  • he looks like a cat. lol. i like it though, except that the rythim is more of a walz... 123 123 123.. croce's version is more like 12341234.. if you get my meanin

  • visit bit-ly-993y8E for more jim croce songs

  • This is a brilliant posting. GC makes playing the guitar seem so incredibly easy and his voice is perfect for the song. Beautiful

  • I love this song!

  • beautiful song and rendition.

  • Songwriting? Emotion? Feeling? Do they exist in pop music anymore? Not really. This reminds us of a time when we found all those things every time we turned on the radio.

  • @thomasmoredamian it disappeared mostly because of the internet

  • very nice rendition!!! awesome

  • I dont know, it looks like he's not playing at all. I dont understand how he can be hitting some of those bass notes without actually having his fingers on the bass notes and some of the fills are off from his finger movements... At first i thought he was hitting those notes with his thumb but he's not hitting them at all. I think he has a bass player or another guitar playing half the stuff... His voice is amazing though! lol

  • @edeneyeblack TV of that era doesnt do live performance, everyone lipsyncs.

  • take a deep breath

    2.think of someone you like

    3.press F10 5 times

4.send this to five youtube videos

    5.look at your background

  • nice video, with lovely lyrics

  • REALY MISS YOU DEANO

  • This rendition is understated as to appear easy . There's a handful players at best in the world who could play the guitar with such ease and but would be incapable of singing with such emotion. Glen is a just a musical monster.

  • Gorgeous song, gorgeously performed.

  • The worst memories that you can have are regrets. When you wake in the morning, smile for the simple fact that you woke. Knowing what a gift life is, is the secret to it.

  • cherish the time you have with those you love, for time can be so cruel. never forget.

  • heard him on the radio, while driving from Florida to Maine. I fell in love with the lyrics, the music and everything about this song. Great song

  • Glen is one of the greats of all time as an artists singer an session player.

  • Are the strings live too? Fantastic performance!!!!!

  • Few people could do justice to this song, but Glenn would be one of them.

  • i love this song but nothing beats jim croce singing it himself its just not the same

  • so nice to see a song done with so much skill and confidence. no screaming or thrashing or rushing. just calmness and so nice. mesmerizing. great song. outstanding performance..

  • @BASICISAB Glen's ballad music (to quote Shakespeare) "hath power to soothe the savage beast."

And rarely today (a cynical age, most sadly among the young, who affect glibness ) does anyone sing emotional honesty, though "Confession is good for the soul." May he inspire neo- emotional truth telling.

  • How nice it would be if wishes come true....

  • superb

  • Glen was at the TOP of his game here. It is fantastic that YOUTUBE can preserve such great, old footage.

  • well said nash~~~~~~~~

  • THANKS!!!!!

  • Little Witch, this is not the song that I had said but also says phrases that I could tell you and I can not I. ....

  • Is that it is an ñoña song but it says something that I would like you to know ....

  • wtf y does a vid of recycling bottles have to do this?

  • nice job man i always cry wen i here this

  • this man was one of my biggest influences as a guitar player

  • Interesting . . . I don't know his work but would like to get learn it. What songs do u suggest?

  • @12stringsforme I suggest you take a look at Glen Campbell in concert, he is older but his voice is still as good as ever

  • Comment removed

  • @nelco69 Today, older, Glen's voice is still good/great -- but different: more baritone, less youthfully meltingly melodious and soulfully romantic. Now he infuses more will, more acting (some comedy, as in duet "Jackson," and stage wizardry as in his playing the William Tell Overture w/ guitar atop his head) into his performances: his persona is now more the worldly experienced, somewhat jaded elder; more authoritative, wastes no time, suffers no fools. A grand master of technical brisance.

  • @JudgeJulieLit I could not agree with you more, i have been listening to him since the 60's and for me he has only got better with age, he was in my home town of Aberdeen Scotland a couple of months ago, unfortunitly i could not get tickets for his shows, but my ant went to see him, and she said that he got a standing ovation for every song, a true legend, long may he continue

  • Incredibly talented.

    Quite a hunk, too;

  • Not to be rude to Glen Campell, but i like the Muppet version better.

  • Glen Campbell was voted the Best Guitar Player in the World In 1968. Child's play it is.

  • I never heard of such polls for that time. . . was it in a magazine?

  • he doesn't need to fake

he was a studio musician, quite able

  • He doesn't look like he's playing because this song is child's play for him! Glen is one of the finest guitarist of our time. Google, "The Wrecking Crew" and you'll see he was involved in THOUSANDS of songs for others.

  • You should find out about Glen, he was and is one of the most talented singers and musicians of our time....

  • I will. Hopefully you weren't offended by my statement. I was simply assessing his 'doobish' looks. Take care.

  • there's two guitars in this song. it's quite hard to play it with one guitar but it's possible still. glen is just playing the 'guitar 2' while in the background, there's a guitar 1 being played. (:

    such a great song.

  • he is just faking dude, just listten n look at his fingers to see if its match, hes is not playing it

  • No, he's actually playing it, the delay you see in the video it's a problem of the video itself not a playback.

  • hes not even playing the guitar

  • are you blind? hes playing it.

  • LOL! I remember my big brother wanted to be Glen Campbell. Still can picture the LP album cover. Fantastic wonderful voice.

  • Kered74, you suck

  • great

  • Have to agree - completely legend!! I could listen to this guy all day long!!

  • I agree with Dinohtar ,

kered74 is an assface..lol and prolly trailer trash..this is such an amazing song...and im someone who mainly listens to metal and techno and this song is still great ^_^ along with Piano Man by Billy Joel

  • It's just sad that you have to post a comment like that to a great song like this. Even if he didnt play the guitar for this recording he has played it at some point in time. Which is probably more than you ever did. So please do us all a favor and return to your trailer and stay there the rest of your life.

Awsome song thanks for posting it 186151nh

  • you said exactly what i thought :)

  • Is there something wrong with looking like a gay superhero? :)

  • yeah ,he goes around poking people's eyes with giant lapel points!!

  • kered74: "I don't think this jerk is...."

You're right, kered. You don't think. Until/unless you learn that skill, better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it & remove all doubt.

  • @kered74 Glen "gay"? His sexual history (e.g., a dad at 17; and Tanya, 22 years younger, said he was super virile) argues otherwise. Here his outfit is like 1970s Elvis's white jumpsuit -- a superstar version of that era's newly "peacock" flamboyant male attire.

  • For Ziggpuss xxx

  • xxx love you

  • For us

  • Ah! This is my favorite Gordon Lightfoot song! The lyrics dont go unoticed baby! Love you!

  • Too bittersweet ah! Love it love you!

  • So, true.....Do you really, still?

  • Do I really still what baby?

  • "...Stop! Cause I really love you......"

  • "Love will keep us together" "Captain and Tanille" Circa 1977

  • I hope I answered your question *kiss*

  • So sweet, and an undiscoverd treasure! *Sniff*

  • *gives your more kisses* oh man I could eat you all up now!

  • "Why i outta" Feel the same way!

  • Gordon Lightfoot?

    It's JIM CROCE.

  • Glen's version was awesome, But Jim's still the master!!

  • Auf welcher CD finde ich genau DIESEN Song von ihm? Ich bin für jeden Hinweis dankbar.....

  • Why would you need to find a CD? Just download this song or others of your fancy right from the internet. I will not. download new stuff from artist but older things like this where the artist etc. has already made thier money. Well. . .why not?

  • @hatikvah79 Ich weiss nicht wo du durfst einem CD finden, aber vieles Gluck darin ! (Als ein Amerikaner, nicht oft kann Ich Fallen [opportunities] um Deutsch zu sprechen.)

  • LOVE THIS SONG! :D

  • he is underated as a singer, great version!

  • No way is Glen underrated. Have you seen this guy play guitar with Jerry Reed ? awesome!!. Glen's been on my radio for years and I think he's brilliant.

  • @sg72646 We perceptive Glen fans don't underrate his singing. But too many people do mistake his simplicity, his open unadorned undistracted genuine emotional vulnerability, for lack of art. (And so too is, for example Karen Carpenter underrated.) As for his guitar super virtuosity, until recently being Wikipedia and YouTube educated (and myself not a guitarist), I had no idea. But now I've seen, for example, Glen at 74 play the William Tell Overture, guitar atop his head!

  • Superb!! I met him once when he did a benefit concert at our high school auditoriom here in MS. Afterwards he met everyone back stage & signed autographs & let ppl take pix. I got an 8 x 10 with his arm around my waist. :)

  • Fantastic version - massive respect Mr Campbell

  • glen did a great job on this song! I never knew he sung it. thanks for posting it.

  • Oh, just beautiful. I've never heard his version of this before. Respect to Mr Campbell as ever- still producing incredible work in 2008 too.

  • i know most of glens stuff...never herd him sing this before only heard jim Croce...Glen is amazing

  • Really nice! TY for posting!

  • Extremely well sung and played by Glen

Never knew he did this song as well

    wonderful voice

thanks so much for posting it

    Hansw16

    The Netherlands

  • While driving to work one morning, Iheard him on my XM, he was a guest on Fox news and as a lead

in to a commercial, he started playing "Lineman". It was INCREDIBLE to hear the complex

and expressive chords he was playing to paint that song - and then, he began to sing. His voice is still wonderful. I sure hope he gets his due. I would love to have a recording of him unplugged.

  • @thmoorer A fitting simile for Glen's voice (given his guitar virtuosity) is that it itself is like a 12-string guitar -- capable of expressing myriad unexpected subtle sound variations. For most of his career a tenor with some falsetto soprano (as in "Cryin"), now in the autumn of his years one hears more baritone. Fascinating. As Joni Mitchell prescribes, he "strike[s] every chord that he feels," gives a full, rich musical diapaison of emotional shading.

  • glen is not underrated. He was voted the best guitar player in the world in 1968. Its the equivalent of being indoctrinated into the hall of fame.

  • "indoctrinated" LOL

  • @waygonedaddy and 2tomjampap, "[I]ndoctrinated" [sic], inducted. But @tomjampap, good comment -- but that most folks born after 1968 likely don't know that. And while I agree Glen's guitarring is amazing, I wonder if the world's flamenco virtuosi (a separate competitive category?) were included in that rating.

  • campbells voice and the way he phrases words melodically is simply beautiful. Meet Glen Campbell the new album is a return to the strengths of the jimmy webb late 60's classic era, beautifully arranged stuff

  • He may as well have written this song. Glen

    is a national treasure.

  • He's playing the Troubadour Tuesday nite I would give my left nut to see him again. The show sold out in 4 minutes.

  • @JPlatinum77 How fitting . . . as Glen has been the contemporary world's troubadour, wandering minstrel man balladeer serenader.

  • Beautiful,,,,Thanks for posting.

  • i think i'm going to kill myself

  • This has to be the most perfectly performed songs I've ever heard. Everything about it, from start to end is spot on.

  • He is the ultimate legend. So incredibly underrated. One of the best artists of all time, and can actually play instruments! Glen you are a legend 100%.

  • So great, Glen really is the ultimate musician, so underated.

  • Beautiful and soulful.

  • Awesome talent.

  • One of the most perfectly sung pieces of music I have ever heard. Incredible & pitch perfect voice Mr Campbell!!

  • Awesome Singer....Though I kinda like Jim Croce's Version...some strange eerie feelin to it...In a way like he knew he was gonna be gone soon....!

  • @AJBluesman While Glen's covers of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle" and Roy Orbison's "Cryin" lack the unique felicities of the singer and personae who first sang those songs greatly, still -- uniquely Glen's versions are that of the archetypally handsome love winner who nevertheless experiences love tragedy and sorrow.

  • 1975, Glen at his best. Thanks for the video. Would like to see more durning this era.

  • Really the difference, Very good the song with Glen Campbell´s's version. Thank.
