I think what she tried to do was give you a haircut for straight hair which obviously isn't that great an idea unless you have the patience to iron or blowdry it straight every couple days. My advice: don't go there again, keep looking until you find someone who gives you a decent or even mediocre haircut, because the second time around it'll be awesome (considering they are at least competent in cutting hair and customer interaction)
I cut two of my female friends hair and I'm terrified the entire time. I don't know squat about cutting hair (other than my own and I keep that around .25 inches long.)

My barber was this little old italian guy who died about a year ago, he always knew how to cut my hair so that I didn't look like a tool. His son is now in charge of the shop, and hes good, but his chair is always full because hes the only one who could hold a candle to his old man. Last time I went in there, I didn't get him, I got the lady who is very nice and personable but wants to make everyone look like mark walhberg. Long story short, I can now pull a length of my hair to my collarbone...

One time in DC I went to this place and it was CLOSED for renovations, but the guy was in there dressed in like a junky workout outfit and he cut my hair while there was nobody else in there. I will agree with you. I have wavy hair as well... about the same length as yours but it's about twice as thick probably. and I hate my haircuts 99% of the time because when my hair kinks up after they cut it wet it looks really uneven and weird looking. I have had 3 decent hair cuts in 11 years.

My barber was this little old italian guy who died about a year ago, he always knew how to cut my hair so that I didn't look like a tool. His son is now in charge of the shop, and hes good, but his chair is always full because hes the only one who could hold a candle to his old man. Last time I went in there, I didn't get him, I got the lady who is very nice and personable but wants to make everyone look like mark walhberg. Long story short, I can now pull a length of my hair to my collarbone...

But, I do agree. They can't style one's hair in a one-type-fits-all way. I have full, wavy/curly, semi-coarse hair. And a stylist who knows what she's doing, so that when I tell her, sometimes I wanna leave it to dry on it's own, and sometimes I wanna straighten it....she actually does it!

That haircut is dreadful, its all different lengths, and there is no shape to it.
I guess it must be hard being a woman in LA; the people are so body image obsessed and want to conform to a fashion.
Just do your own thing and find someone who will cut your hair the way you want it.

I try finding a hair stylist as well who 'doesn't' want to straighten it but they do because they don't know 'how' to do anything else with it. Ugh! It seems like all they need to do is layer it on the sides just a bit more and it would be perfect. I feel for ya. :)

One time in DC I went to this place and it was CLOSED for renovations, but the guy was in there dressed in like a junky workout outfit and he cut my hair while there was nobody else in there. We were watching kids PBS programs and he did such a nice awesome suuper good job and he told me about his buisness ideas and stuff. Anyways, it was rad and he was cool as hell. Sometimes I feel bad for hairstylists, it seems a thwarting buisness where people aren't allowed to really be creative.

I've been thinking recently that for those that think they are famous on youtube they are partially correct but sidetracked. I think its more like the kind of fame of a local celebrity that can get his meal comped at a restaurant. Or like a celebrity in a subculture like motocross or skiing. Or a popular comic book for those are into comic books. Outside of that no one has heard of them. I say sidetracked because its on the internet so its not local, its spread out. So people like cont.

I will agree with you. I have wavy hair as well... about the same length as yours but it's about twice as thick probably. and I hate my haircuts 99% of the time because when my hair kinks up after they cut it wet it looks really uneven and weird looking. I have had 3 decent hair cuts in 11 years.
