@VoteInvaderZim Don't be discouraged by what some people might say, it takes a lot of physical strength, mental discipline and determination to become a male dancer! Check out the website "Ballet for Men", they have some great articles on overcoming the stereotypes of being a male dancer.

@9guadalqivir6 That is totally a legitimate question! The reason ALL dancers wear tights is so that the teachers can make sure they're using the right muscles. If they wore sweat pants, it would be hard to see what they were doing wrong vs. right!

I've got a complaint, PNB. We appreciate your clips but they're too short and don't show the range of levels in these summer classes. I have a few boys training in my studio and I ache for some honest filming to inspire them and their parents - seeing the different student levels (not edited out) would give a more balanced view of the proceedings. Showing developed skills only is intimidating to the less-advanced.

@dorong48 Hey-- Go for it both of you! Seriously! If your parents have problems with it point them towards videos like this, or of Baryshnikov, Vasiliev, Jose Manuel Carreno, and those like them! Can't hurt to try!

Dann, those kids can move! Ballet is great physical training. I dated a ballet dancer for a while. Knock out body! Whew! Incredible athletes. Lots of competition in that room. It's got to be intimidating.

Gotta love this. Training is what ballet is all about. And these men are as beautiful as nearly any ballerina up there.

There was a time when a man up there defying gravity and other physical possibilities was considered wrong, evil. A destruction of one's manhood.

As a male in ballet meself, it's always a challenge. I kept it as secret as goverment documents. What these men do is nothing short of incredible.
