  • oh my god the short-term memory thing is so true. Really I'd like a scientific explanation for it...

  • Huh i wonder why they dont seem to remember....maybe a cultural thing or a product of their language and word structure...

  • your head became one with the background.

  • Haha. Youre so right about the 'short term memory loss' thing. Its not just Japanese people either.

  • NANDA!!! Now I now what's all this NANDA!!! shouting is all about! ;)

  • But I was just browsing how am I moron T_T

  • LOL I love your videos man, your as real as it gets keep them coming. Quick question how are things turning up in Japan? how are you guys making it through?

  • It's weird that short term memory thing...

  • I like how they elongate the vowels when they're surprised or whatever... but it's also kind of annoying. lol

  • demo sono kanji da yo? meaning?

  • @NemeSisLFay

But the feeling is like that.

  • Ok, clarification porfavor.. Nanda... Can that be used like saying "What"!!!! As if a viewer keeps saying, "Excuse me Mr GMABM but what does this mean? And you say in an agitated tone... " nanda nanda NANDA!!!?

Short term brain damage... Thats funny!!! I would fit in just fine... I cant wait!

  • @edtomorrow

Maybe ONE nanda would be fine if your annoyed. I think 3 times would be excessive.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman Thanks... I asked this because I saw it on an anime (Macross) He said it three times and was PISSED! LOL!!!

Gracias senior.. I mean Doumo Arigato Victor-san!

  • When you're talking about the Tomatoes, what's the word after "san" (3) ? San byakoman ? Is that the japanese equivilent of Yen ?

  • HO! Your wife sounds hot, is that why you're hiding her ? (yes, i do feel the need to comment on nearly every video i watch :P)

  • You have a dog sniffing your brain, good sir. Just thought you might like to know.

    Love,

    Moron

  • Isn't it bad luck to buy things in groups of four?

  • The right translation for NANDA! is ... WHAT THE-!!

  • There is no "right". It's all context.

  • "Demo sono kanji da yo" is the only thing you didn't translate; I was interested to know what that meant! "But that kanji _____" is what I understand. Not sure what the "da yo" does in this sentence. D:

  • GREAT!!! i am a moron

  • Brain damage! LOL! =D

  • great video!

...suffering from short-term memory loss because of brain damage...omg you're so mean to your wife :P

  • so nanda isn't a word as a word. i was woundering. some tell me its like a 'what" "what happend" or a "omg" momment.

  • Good lesson. I am but a humble "moron" to you sensei

  • thanks victor. Im moron and enjoy ur morons videos jajajaj. Jasai !!! show up ur wife too :)

  • I was thinking of getting a teaching cert. like CELTA or TESOL because then teaching here in London its a good side earner. If you turn up in Japan with these certificates, is the pay significantly better or the same as say someone without the certificate? Thank you .... and carry on the good work.

  • I was going to make a video response but my stupid web cam somehow fails to work on youtube ..... I've tried like 8 times now and I've just given up.

Any how the question I have doesn't relate to this video. The question I have is where have the people who have taught english ended up after their contract has finished - I'm talking career wise here.

  • Hey Victor,

Great series man ..... I've sporadically watched quiet a few of them. You are really good at making them and well done man for the followers you've created.

    Amerz

  • Haha, thats a funny post ^^ "Nanda, like the sound you make when you realize something" xD

  • Tsh! xD

  • haha I like how you got mad at when she don't get which word you wanna her to repeat!

  • haha awesome

  • mujer con sombrero= barata= kanji yasui

i will not forget ( ease way to remember the kanji yasui )

the kanji woman plus a hat = cheap

    cool way to remember.

  • can u use odoroku in a sentence like. like watashi wa sore wo kita toki odorokimashita.

  • Actually i'm the same way... most of the time I can't remember what i just said after saying it...

Also i've heard this saying before:

    何だ、お前か。 = Oh... it's you.

    なるほどね

    このシリーズ作って説明してありがとう!

  • TAH KAH EEEEEEEEE!

  • lol very nice video .... i love your wife voice ^^

  • yes! cool voice. i like it too.

  • hey, doesn't 'nande yo' mean something like "what the hell!" ty

  • nande ya nen, is "what the hell" in Kansai ben

  • lol your videos get weirder and weirder, but in the good way

  • ya-sue-he...learned something new today..thanks..haha

  • XD thanks, will def come in handy!

  • As far as the memory thing goes, I will fit in well in Japan. For example, an infamous conversation I had with my little brother once, went like this:

    "Hey, Jason."

    Pause

    "Hey, Rachel."

    "What?"

"What? Didn't you call my name?"

    "Oh yeah!"

My brother will never let me live it down. lol

  • I'm so excited that you're doing daily lessons now!!! :D I know that's what you'd meant to do before, but that didn't really work out the way it was supposed to... Anyway, this time you're actually doing them everyday! I'm trying to get my honey to learn some Japanese and your lessons are going to help them a lot. Domo domo domo!

  • very good!!, Im trying to learn some Japanese to impress my g/f (who is fluent) could you do a Moron lesson to help a player out???

  • ... your head is dissapearing...

  • your comment made me laugh LOL

  • dosent TAKAI also mean is tall?

  • Yes.

  • OHmySHIZZnit: Yes. The way I keep it straight is that it always means high, whether in physical height (inches, cm, etc.) or in price.

  • Yup, but usually at height they use "se ga takai" literally, something like, "xy's height is tall" :P sounds silly

  • I thought this was an awesome lesson!!

  • you really want us to stop being "morons"? then this vids wouldn't get viewed :)) and I would be out of a Nihongo no Sensei :D

  • Great lesson!

    Well thought of!

and you're right its so true and yet funny about the short-term memory loss thing.

  • Ah, Nanda, sometimes I slip and say Nandaiyo and that's when I get an ear full. It just sounds more manly.

    Taking notes Victor. Taking notes.

    Thanks again.

  • LOL!

  • How dare you!! I love you too.

  • Cercl.

  • great vid. it kinda made me dizzy watching it on full screen!

  • If "漢字" is "kanji" meaning "Chinese characters", what does "感じ" mean?

  • It like means, "a feeling" if I remember correctly.

  • What you said, kanji is the word for feeling, sense or impression.

  • Used in a sentence!

    いつの日も感じているこの思いを

I wish I knew enough to make sense of this statement but I'm not quite there yet!

  • feeling~

    different ji

  • a dollar each for a grapefruit wow... here its like a dollar for 5 grapefruits

  • Lol, here it's like 5 dollars for one grapefruit. :P

  • omg!

  • Stop calling me a moron. :[

haha, just kidding. These videos are great. I'm actually learning this stuff really fast, and I could understand a bit of a conversation between my dad and the owner of my local sushi bar.

    Thanks, and keep making more!

  • oh and im not a moron i just like watching these for refreshing lol... only new word i learned was bikkurishita

  • your awesome. and your wife is nice to help out.

  • Excellent. So to sum up:

    We're all morons for watching (conceded);

    The Japanese all have memory loss;

    You insulted your wife.

That last one was a *really* bad idea. :o)

  • He's really counting on the short term memory loss.

  • Can "なんだ" also be used like "WTF"?

  • Yeah, maybe.

  • Is "takaaiiiiii!" the feminine pronunciation? : P

  • Yes. Or maybe just my wife. Just say it like I say it.

    Takai. Could you hear me?

  • Wow I am Dizzy!

  • Guess what?! My schools got new Computers NEW BLACK IMACS BEAT THAT

  • Racist.

  • LOL!

  • Just happened.
