Wow that's a blessing. They didn't even like this song because they thought it was wierd, but it became this biggest selling hit and a classic and Duke says that he salutes everytime this song is played.
why do these idiots keep removing the for tops'S videos from youtube? they never cared for them anyways but now that we the fans use this website to enjoy them, they remove them. Long live the four tops!!!
Those gorgeous strings open this Motown tour de force along with James Jamerson's greatest Bassline (in my opinion)with Benny "Poppa Zita" Benjiman banging on the skins along with the "Funk Brothers" providing the musical muscle along with the Four Tops and Levi Stubbs dramatic vocals make this the first great "symphonic soul" song. This is one of Motown's crown jewels that will be studied 100 years from now as a testament to the Motown Sound. R.I.P. Levi Stubbs
This is the best footage of this song that I've seen. I'm so glad I got to hear this and other Motown songs the first time around. An integral part of the soundtrack of my life.
FOUR TOPS FANS... TAKE A LISTEN !!! MOTOWN is FINALLY ISSUING THE 4 TOPS "DEFINITIVE DVD" -22 VINTAGE VIDEO PERFORMANCES....COMING TO STORES NOV 11TH !!! ALSO STILL AVAILABLE...MOTOWN DEFINITIVE DVD'S on THE MIRACLES, THE TEMPTATIONS, THE SUPREMES, AND MARVIN GAYE .
True I met and took a picture with Levi 10 years ago and it was a honor and blessing to meet him. Plus I shared the same birthday as Duke, so they're one of my favorite male groups of all time.
I agree. I saw them live in Vegas a few years ago and they were terrific. Levi's voice has a better quality now. One of the great groups of all times.
I was in a really bad relationship in NJ, I was very afraid to leave but,one day I walked to a convenience store to get away for a little peace, this song was on in the store. I almost cried because I thought, Is this what my father intended for me when I was a little girl? So that day I left town, back to TX. Hearing this song was almost like hearing my father's voice calling me from miles away.
What a tune.......
