@wayne127 box or no box that is my opinion. yes there are many other cultures however this is at a resort in Samoa and it is done poorly. if i was a samoan visiting and they were butchering the dance i would certainly not be happy. so think about it outside your box.
malo lava le sa'asa'a... i've to samoa a couple of times and aggie's fiafia night is good fun. there use to be a fafa that did tamure and it was so funny...
c'mon settle... she was good though... i've been to samoa a couple of times and aggies fiafia night is good and fun... one night we were there, a fafa did a tamure and it was so much fun to watch...
im 100% samoan & i dance in a polynesian dance group & when you dance you are suppose to point your toes to the beat, she is lilke kicking the air lmao
Aggie jnr's the shizzle, she ordered my children chicken nuggets one evening, cos my kids are bloody fussy. dont like blimin taro. it was either european food or they'll starve...and obviously they starved. Thanks Aggie : )
OMG, this is really good, I have a lot of footage on my cam x an aggies fiafia night (yay NZ Maori represent) which I would like to put on here...but anywayz...
the chicky here done an awesome job...don't be hating, somewhere in the song, they sing, haere mai, maori! its all multi cultural...come on!
everyone still hating! get over yourselfs if samoans want to perform dances other than samoan theres no harm in that especially if its perfoming arts inspired from our polynesian cousins! i dont know why people care so much, jus get used to it no big deal and worry bout the more important things! but anyways its an ok performance drumming sounds bit weird and she needs more practise but other than that keep the good stuff up.
Why not!!??Its a fiafia night of dancing.. Its nice to touch on other polynesian cultures as long as the focus is mainly Samoa. In hawaii I'm glad they honor our Samoan people by incorporating our siva in their luau's.. It about learning about the song and dance of polynesians.. We are all polynesians... GOOD PERFORMANCE!!!
@Shebanish There are many beautiful cultures in polynesia not only Samoan. I'm sure you can think outside of the box. Or can you...lol. Very old school way of thinking. Wait... Maybe its because I'm young and open to things.
Re: all the previous comments: obviously you haven't been to Aggie's before. This was just ONE dance in over an hour of performances. The REST of the fiafia is Siva Samoa. Don't hate! Appreciate!
OMG....what an insult to the samoan tradition of dancing and fiafia. I'm sure the dancer is a lovely girl, however she doesnt suit it at all. Leave it to the rarotonga and tahitians to do this type of dancing. Rather desperate if you ask me. Kafefe.
sole, since when do samoans move their hips when they dance? and wear tahitian type costumes? aue- its just another tourist attraction- giving the tourists what they percieve as all island entertainment...as if we could all be different and have our own dances- oh well, maybe they got bored with the samoan sive and wanted to spice it up- i like the singing- really nasal- hahaha- funny people
LMAO.. I'm Samoan.. seriously I think we're all wondering why she's siva'ing a Tahitian or Cook Island (whichever it is) dance rather than a SAMOAN hahah.. Us Polynesians should give tourists our culture "as it is" not what they want it to be "exotic half-naked chicks always sunbathing on the beach..." if you guys know what I mean. LOL
Need more technical backup with modern PA system & proficient vocalists!. Sounds a bit too hokey for more liking but OK for the dumb tourists I guess!
honestly, I was there in 08 and no way did they sing this song this way, however the footage I have on my cam, is way better than this, this version is all good though...nothing bad but they have done better in other fiafia nights.
Malo lava! :D
