  • "pool is a beautiful game played by ugly people!"

  • Damn, sick safety at 1:27 and even sicker shot on the 7 by Earl..

  • This Hines guy just showed up this week looking homeless and played in a $10 buy in 8ball tourney which he won and then proceeded to argue with the bartender about how he thought he was over charged on a few drinks. From a great shooter with potential to coked out has-been idiot. Stay in school kids!

  • Hynes was definitely a major talent. But it's clear that Strickland is in fact the stronger player; he's a better shotmaker, has better control of the cueball, has better strategy, and has better, businesslike form habits. Hynes was playing on pure nerve and talent, while Strickland is obviously someone who had made serious and rational efforts to improve every aspect of his game.

  • @GetMeThere1 If only u new what u were talkin about....I know both of them personally and they both are great shooters..but Jack on the other hand will beat earls little winny but all day long if hes mentally together. zzztake it from someone that is a state champion and knows the game, Jack is an was one of the best in the world for sure..I know, I played him and strickland,Earl just got lucky for sure, he couldnt kick that 7 in 1 time in 50.

  • @96cobramustang: where I come from we call that BS. Or coulda, woulda, shoulda. I know what I'm talking about because I described WHAT WE SAW HERE--not what this or that could do on such and such a day when everything was right, blah, blah, blah. That's just talk. HERE, Earl was clearly the better player--and that's all I said.

  • @GetMeThere1 without a doubt, this was Earls day, especially after kicking in that 7,lolololl..lmao..I sure would have hated to have been Hines watching that kick shot after such a leave he put on Earl. But,Jack did have his chance after that again to when the game an didnt so,Earl was definetly the better player that day, Earl went on to do big things I will agree, Hines on the other hand is homeless, so that about wraps it up for sure, Thanks for the reply (Getmethere)

  • @96cobramustang You're on glue if you think that Jack Hines is better then a 5 time US Open and 4 time world 9-ball champion and probably the most naturally talented pool player in the modern era. Poll the pro's with the question "who is better, Jack Hines or Earl Strickland?" and they will simply laugh at you.

  • @Stiletos Glue eh? Thats a good one;;;;lmao 20 years ago Earl was very good and so was Jack, just like in the video, but it was obvious that if Earl hadnt have shit that 3 rail kick in who would have won, that part everyone knows! Earl did however go on to do what you said and I will agree, was the best in the world, I would love to watch Earl and Jack play again. Everyone knows Jacks fu..ed up and Earls winey ass sucks now, but back then, for sure, Earl was no better!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jack is a sory motherfucker a pile of shit.

  • starchers billiards 1988 wow what memories got earl to sign his namecard after his finals match big deal for a teenager back then

  • @mike1970mjm Uh, Earl was born in 1961 making him approximately 27 at the time of this tournament.

  • Earl is at his best, but had to get lucky to beat Jack Hynes. How good does this imply Jack Hynes was (not yet even in his prime)?

I mean seriously, the game count is 10 to 8 Hynes. Hynes plays a perfect safety, then Strickland makes that 3 rail kick shot (which even he couldn't make more than one in a hundred times).

  • The only human being with less decency and decorum than that coke head Jack Hines is Earl Strickland. I hope Earl gets hit by a truck, then a bus, then my car. But still, Earl could make that three-rail kick way more than 1%. I saw him play balkline 47.1 and three-cushion against a couple of Belgians during the Mosconi Cup in Rottterdam in '06. This was at Topsportcentrum. He can't play 3c well, so lots of his shots were three rail kicks into a close billiard. But easily he could make that

  • @lonniebiz Thats a fact, Jack told me about that shit a long time ago when we use to play together in Ky. and it actual was the truth! Cant believe someone taped it. Earl is for real a piece of crap even if he is from my town and sure couldnt make that 3 rail shot if he wanted to,especially in a dam tourny. Jack got fu....,and thats all it boils down too!Signed...Jacks little buddie from Richmond

  • interesting, the ball comes back on table after a foul shot :)

    4:12

  • @xeniumcool we used to play everything spots ball in hand behind the line on the break if the next ball was behind the line it spotted.Everyone used to practice spotshots daily.Made it a much tougher game.Texas express came out in late 80s for tv

  • 2.00! what a shot!

  • *lol*

  • Hines is pretty damn good but Earl in his prime was very hard to deal with.

  • Thanks for uploading this, truly thrilling match!

  • Let's face it, both are very well judged hit and hope shots with a little good fortune involved (deservedly so: "luck is the residue of hard work"). Obviously Reyes could not have hoped for a safety in his famous zig-zag escape, there's just too little speed in it to get the object ball much farther than into the pocket, nor he did try to lag against the ball. Strickland backcuts the ball, so the margin for error is close to nil, and yet, I've seen this exact same result more than once.

  • Hines should of had him. Earl did miss some easy shots early in the match.

  • 3 rail kicks are not necessarily more difficult than 2 rail kicks. For example, a z-kick is MUCH more difficult than any 3 rail kick. That's why Reyes' shot was so unlikely, and so impressive.

The kick in this video is fairly unlikely, yes, but not nearly as unlikely as Reyes' shot.

  • Very well played match. Earl was just trying to hit it solid, but it went in. Nice. When Hines settled down he was shot for shot with Earl.

  • Strickland was playing for the hit here. He got lucky and it dropped.

Obviously Reyes also got pretty lucky on his famous kick... but that's a little different. In a z kick, making the hit at all is difficult.

  • what an amazing kick. If he had missed that it would have been over for him

  • Thank you for the great match.

  • Wow. Very few missed balls in that one. The kick by Earl with very nice...but a little lucky. Great match!
