At first, I thought this looked like an interesting movie. I also liked the idea for the plot: a psychopath terrorizing some rich snobs at a party. But it was BORING! Not the worst movie I've seen, but still pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, I love horror/exploitation flicks. This one just wasn't my cup of tea. However, I DID like Riz Ortolani's disco-like soundtrack.

I rented this movie when I was around 12 years old. I thought it was a horror, the cover art was a house made to look in the shape of a skull, We also rented last house on the left, and it was uncut at the time. The girls were cute despite being slashed and abused in this film and the rape was horrific but this is still a great exploitation film. There is Inside or Martyrs that is the closet thing to being a modern House on The Edge of the Park when it comes to shock value, but i'm not touching A Serbian Film

You might like Frontier(s). It's a French movie but I think it was way more crazier than High Tension.

Yeah, this movie is pretty darn good. I'm certain it's also one of Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth's favorites as well. I'd love to see David Hess return in another role like this someday soon.

If your in the US, I actually bought this for $1 on one of those cheap Horror Classics DVDs you can buy at Best Buy (I bought mine at Save-a-Lot haha)

Anyways, it's not high on the Grindhouse scale...not enough violence for that. It's mostly exploitation, which isn't my thing, so it was quite boring for me. Not scary, but had sex and nudes in it, so if your looking for that, this movie is one not to miss.

I would say it's very high on the "Grindhouse scale". There's a lot of violence, not a lot of gore, but it's extremely exploitive. It's a great exploitation film by a great director.
