It's not meant to be funny. This was his first attempt. He'sd now a good skier, even though he's deaf and blind, and he moved on to do downhill skiing. Cross country skiing was the easiest to start with because of the tracks, and the slower falls.

they are cross country skiing. there is a set track that you can put your skis in and you just kinda go.

Well, I see what you are saying, but when you are blind, you have to jus take risks. It's part of life for them and that's what makes most of them respectable.
