Johnny came up in Houston with contemporaries axe men Johnny Copeland, Albert Collins, what talent. listened to Johnny recordings in the late 50's and early 60's, Johnny was a beast. great performer.
I'm 37 and when I was a kid my parents used to play this album all the time. I listen to this and some of the other old skool favorites. We all have a bit of Superman Lover in us.
Can anybody name a R/B Band that came out in the last 10-15 years like The Ohio Players.Kool &the Gang,Slave, BT Express,Midnight Star,Earth, Wind & Fire,Gap Band,Lakeside,Isley Brothers,Brother Johnson,Chic,Change,New Birth ,L.T.D.,Commodores,Brainstorm, Ready for the World,Mandrill Rolls Royce,Brass Construction.MFSB,Issac Hayes,Curtis Mayfield,Mac Band,Looses Ends,Arrua,Black Byrds
you need to hear his real early music like in the late 50's and early 60's when he was really rocking the guitar. He grew up in Houston Tx with Albert Collins,Johnny Copeland, You talking about some top flight Ax men
I saw mr. Watson is kansas City Missouri in the late 90's. I didn't know at that at that time, a year or so later he would be gone. 100+ degree heat and this dude was in a three piece suit rocking the house! God bless Mr. Watson!
Met Mr. Watson in L.A. traffic while visiting my cousin's in 79...He was sitting at the traffic light in his Stutz Bearcat Convertible. We were like..."Hey Johnny, where the women and weed at man?" He was very kind in his come back and pulled off waving.
most times it's because they have to play so many gigs in a short time so they speed them up to get them all in.if not they want get paid.lot of times there's someone timing them and tell them to speed up so they make the next gig.
James lifts us in another way but JGW has a sensitivity and a sense of humor in his lyrics that make me pretend he's my funkle . maybe theyr'e jamming right now -with jimi hendrix ?!
