The money is there for a space program... it's just being used to build bombs and stuff like that instead. Can't afford a few billion for a space program to spread human life to other planets and moons but you CAN afford this bloated military budget and war budget?
Quite a twisted sense of priorities, Mr. Tancredo.
Lol @ Tom Tancredo. As if the Space Program (what is it, a few billion dollars total?) is at fault for our budget deficit problems instead of the trillion dollar wars in the middle east and America's bloated military budget.
Why is it such a problem to spend money to explore space. We are the United States. Who exactly do we owe money to? The whole idea behind being in debt as a nation is to keep us paying out money, money in it self is only an idea to establish controll over all of us. Pull yourself away from the idea that we live in one place and have to do what we are told and you are let with this. The world belongs to mankind and it is time to explore. Money is the device that keeps use from moving forward.
Yeah, but a lot of Ron Paul's supporters spam message boards with advertisements for him, and a good portion of those people who think 9-11 was an inside job perpetrated by the governemnt, just happen to be Ron Paul supporters. People who think 9-11 was an inside job scare me. I don't have anything against Ron paul in particular, but I can't support the same candidate that so many conspiracy theorists support.
i also think the 9-11 conspiracies are a joke. i vote for whom i think has the best policies, period. i dont care if its a he, she, he/she, or what color they are. i dont care who their supporters are. i also dont assume to know the makeup of an entire group of people's beliefs on conspiracies. its equally as likely that the main stream media is trying to stigmatize ron paul by only focusing on who supports him.
I have'nt heard anything from the mainstream media about Ron Pauls insane supporters, I mainly learned about them from youtube. They are always posting videos about the "new world order" thats gonna take over and how the government leaders worship satan and some of the craziest bullshit one can imagine. Thousands of them, all openly supporting Ron Paul, and living in fear of chemtrails and believing that the government blew up the world trade center.
if you were a researcher, you would know that you are citing what is probably a unrepresentative sample. how do you know if that is the majority of ron paul supporters or the likely, VERY small minority? maybe there are tons of ron paul supporters that dont say such things? but because you only base your judgement from youtube, your theory is invalid. furthermore, who cares who else supports a candidate? if you like them, why not vote for them?
Do you think Hillary Clinton has the intellectual and physical capacity do to be a crew member on the first manned mission to Mars? Astronauts are some of the hardest working and most dedicated people in this country. They train for years on end for the various challenges of space travel. HiLlary Clinton is in no way fit to be an astronaut. thats why Huckabbee has lost my vote. We need a president who will send astronauts to Mars, and Hillary to wherever she belongs.
OMG....they're both fucking idiots. Not much tech was derived from us going to the moon. If you need GPS to get to work or to that debate then your a retard. OMG and the other guy is a retard too. We could cut so much crap outta the national budget it ain't even funny.
Well, they ARE republicans. Cut them a little slack. Just because they are'nt as smart as the rest of us does'nt mean they don't have feelings.
Huckabee gave a decent answer. I thinbk thats what any good candidate would have said but he's clearly not big on the issue. My main diasagreement would be to send Hillary to mars. That woman has absolutely NO scientific or engineering background whatsoever! This guy clearly does'nt know SHIT about astronaut selection.
huckabee was funny, but tancredo made a better point. im all for space exploration, but when you are 9 trillion in debt, something somewhere has gotta give.
When you are $9 trillion in debt, killing off a $15 billion/year agency isn't going to help you very much. Huckabee made a good point, that aerospace research has rewarded our country greatly. If you want to strengthen the nation's economy, you need to cut expenses on things that don't pay off, and keep them where they do.
Its not as if you are going to find one giant useless program in the federal budget that takes $1 trillion a year and be able to eliminate it. It takes a LOT of comparatively little cuts too. You make it sound like its pointless to cut back on anything because our debt is too high.
Our debt is only going to be higher if either hilary or obama gets elected, both of them want billions for health care and education. Besides, if we eliminated much of the wasted spending in the federal budget we would go a long way to reducing out debt, also the first apollo program inspided a generation to do better in math and science, which is what we need now.
We might not find any useless programs, but we can certainly find bigger targets. Social Security has a $657 billion/yr budget. President Bush cut $1.2 billion/yr from Medicaid simply by switching the system to generic drugs. We spend billions on a public school system that is not Constitutionally mandated; we ought, at least, to be skeptical of its budgeting.

I don't think project appollo inspided anybody to do anything. In fact, I don't think "inspided" is a word.
Maybe the government should spend money on a project that will inspire a generation to do better in grammar and language.
