Mr. Duffdark: Du hast mich falsch verstanden.
Das Beste, was uns passieren konnte. Warum dann Eurofighter? Weil die rechten Politiker den gut funktionierenden Draht zu Schweden kappen wollten, der under Bruno Kreisky eingeführt wurde.
@JVC7400 For a single engine plane with dual intakes, they are huge. The placement outside the body makes them look even more gangly. It is just a bad design. They did much better with Gripen.
@Swecan76 Actually, I saw one last year at Le Bourget. It is bigger than any Mirage and the inlets are far bigger for a much weaker engine. The Mirage IIIA was the first European fighter to reach Mach 2. The Draken is an obtrusive and ugly looking fighter and all because of those awful inlets.
I said Draken was one of the first, not THE first.
I was referring to it being a mach 2 capable fighter, just like Mirage, it had it's maiden flight before the Mirage, not at mach 2, but the plane is and was a mach 2 plane.
Regardless, the speed is only for interception, which Draken was made for.
It had excellent rate of climb and surprisingly good at turn rate for an interceptor.
I haven't bitched about the Mirage, you seem to have a nag with Draken.
I am talking about a classical jetfighter and how it looked good, you're here trolling on how bad it looks etc etc and how nice the Mirage is.

JVC7400 1 year ago
@stalkingalizee
I guess you never even seen a Draken in real life.
The intakes are far from huge, the plane it self is actually rather small too.
This is a fighter designed in the 50's, highly acclaimed and one of the most advanced in it's time, also the first complete Delta wing design.
Also one of the first to reach mach 2 and beyond.
A very unique and beautiful looking fighter jet.
Swecan76 10 months ago
@Swecan76 Actually, I saw one last year at Le Bourget. It is bigger than any Mirage and the inlets are far bigger for a much weaker engine. The Mirage IIIA was the first European fighter to reach Mach 2. The Draken is an obtrusive and ugly looking fighter and all because of those awful inlets.
stalkingalizee 10 months ago
@stalkingalizee Bullshit, the Mirage 3 had its maiden flight (first flight) a whole year later than the Draken.
1955 vs 1956.
I've seen the Draken many times, I was in the Swedish military, and the air force at that, so yeah, nice try.
I've seen the Draken, lansen, Viggen and JAS Gripen. Draken is fairly small and low to the ground , Viggen is much larger as an example.
The two air intakes are smaller on the Draken as in comparison to Viggen, also a single engine fighter.
Swecan76 10 months ago
@Swecan76 Your opinion of Draken being ugly is just that a fucking opinion. And yours doesn't really matter at all.
A unique double delta wing aircraft, with unmistakable profile.
I and others find it very appealing in it's aesthetics.
Also those inlets are perfectly placed for symmetry instead of placing them underneath or making one larger underneath the body.
Swecan76 10 months ago
@Swecan76 No fighter is going to break Mach 2 on its maiden flight. You should know that if you were in the air force. lol
Mirage IIIA went Mach 2.2 in May 1958 making it the first Eurojet to break Mach 2 in level flight. The Draken didn't break Mach 2 until 14 Jan, 1960.
Apparently you don't know shit.

stalkingalizee 10 months ago
@stalkingalizee
I know what YOU are.
I said Draken was ONE OF THE FIRST, you responded like a typical frenchie that Mirage was first to go Mach 2.
So fucking what, I was still referring to the aircraft it self being ONE of the first mach 2 jet fighters.
I never said it was THE FIRST, you steered the conversation in to it, NOT ME.
Obviously you need to bring up a french made plane, no one gives a fuck about when this is a DRAKEN video.
Fuck off!
Today Gripen is better than Rafaele, off-topic.

India wants 126, and they are a Billion.

Over-compensating much? Also we all know that if push come to shove, the frenchie's still will fail.
I can see India buying the Eurofighter, but if they buy Rafale, well no accounting for taste and common sense.
You still act like someone that has something to prove.
