  • 0:13 Tig 'ol Bitties.

  • I hate this bitches voice

  • Does anyoe know what date and time this happened? Id love to check Real-time Magnetosphere Simulation

  • i see mickey at 0:20

  • looks like some boobs to me...

  • @BoriMichi earth boobies. mother nature? D:

  • Oh no - North America cops it - again!!!

  • I felt the ripple but I thought it was a ghost passing

  • Looks like Canada is Enemy #1

  • why did they name the robot sandrine ceurstemont?

  • Moral of the vid: Watch out for space storms.

  • I see my dick.. o.o

  • @R4D4full Tiny isn't it?

  • It's amazing how scientists (or at least the producer of this new scientist video) think we all know their motivations.

"Space storms can be hard to predict, so being able to observe them should help"

Help with what exactly? It's certainly not going to help predicting them because by the time you can see them there is no need to predict them, unless you are talking about future developments in a current space storm, but you really should think about what "information" you are disseminating.

  • @romanali1 it aint gonna help anyway, what they gonna do about it even if they know about it?

  • @Kingslay3r Knowing about it is the first step to being able to do something about it. Studying how these storms interact with our planet let's us better understand their nature, how they move, how often they interact with our planet, and during what times. This all helps in predicting and protecting us from any really powerful storms that can cause electrical malfunctions.

  • The Earth's husband was furious when he found out some space storm was slamming his wife.

  • Canada's plan to overtake U.S. has been post-poned.

  • is really a green zigzag? that is so cool no wonder the northern lights

  • anybody else laugh at the giant boobs with nipples?

  • @Dragonkrux I don't laugh at boobies, I play with boobies.

  • No body cares about Canada any way.....

  • @JDCoolMan21 well only the US, but no one likes the US anyways

  • Of course they're hard to predict..we can't even predict our own storms correctly........

  • NOOOO, NOT CANADA.. !

  • Been getting these storms for about 4.5 billion years, just the first time we have the equipment to see them.

  • OH GOD I LIVE BY CANADA!

  • they were giant symbols from a drum kit and they were american sillyness not from the uk thank god

  • 3726732645262 26478628746281 421648762184 2642184 826482648216482164872 2486 2484624 21481 284168214

  • probably

  • /watch?v=kdJK1tfHthc Amazing Video...

  • i see my house

  • lol

  • @2605830 I saw your moms house ;)

  • oh no whre going to die !!!! joke :D

  • no we'll maybe die in 2012

  • That's cool how the Earth's magnetic field just snaps back to the way it was. If it didn't we'd probably all be dead from the rays it wards off!

  • Type in JakeRs Decade. There's lots more of what your looking for.

  • It's the strangest voice I've ever heard, LOL.

  • damn HAARP machine :P

  • an accent?

  • Holy shit! Maybe the movie "Knowing" is true!

  • errrr..... no!

  • 425098746892740698742305987234098572095623897450892730202112348175610735617230498172357612359081239058612093856104375601273465081726034587160298345601784650176345018927630517620857

  • The girls name is :Sandrine Ceurtsemont

  • I hear you. Why don't they just find someone who can speak regular english? It's not hard to find.

  • i know!: THEY should get the guy from planet earth to be the speaker :DDD

  • It's because you are annoying to our eyes.

  • incredible. This could b used 4 preparation 4 larger storms. A large enough storm could do damage 2 the american electrical grid that could take a decade 2 fix.

  • are "for" and "to" really so strenuous 2 type?

  • rofl

  • well, its kinda slow. Usually i type it. u didnt type it either. lol.

  • @ Layk35

Haha yeah! you said it. xD rofl

  • That's... interesting?

  • Oh shit, u know what this means... space weathermen

  • We all ready do have "Space weathermen."

  • Exciting

  • cool.

  • the problem is, when videos are posted that give too much information out over mediums such as this, they don't seem to last long as for some reason all of the original posters take them down... (hmm...) which means after seeing something like this, if you have questions, go search through the endless sea of knowledge that is available at your fingertips, and you'll start to find all sorts of frightening news, that is happening right now. Be careful though, people'll think you're crazy.

  • These science videos are too short for the grandeur of the news they are trying to explain. Sometimes they are more confusing then instructive......And that lady has to stop ending all her sentences in a upper tone manner....For a couple of video i thought it was a computer generated voice.

  • Does this storm have any effect on our planet in any form due to this magnetic 'snap' (for lack of better words).

  • FACT: it was not a storm it was aliens testing out ther equipment on earth. testing the ripple effect of an explosion

  • Where have you obtained the information for that to be proven as fact and what is it...? i like to know these things when told im being to told something is a fact...

  • This is so interesting.

  • THE VOICE IS BACK , KILL IT WITH FIRE!!1

    AAAAARGH

    nuke the..

  • aahh! good I found you- I lost my tapes

    where can I get these?

  • Great

  • wa ao

  • fuck you chinker

  • OH GOD WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!

  • did amy one hear about thoes green lights of the south coast last night,,,???? people sayin ailens???? or asteroids??

  • I guess knowing as much as we can can't hurt but would it ever be possible to prevent massive power outages?

  • she sounds real interested and educated.. not.

  • At least she's into science and has a vagina. Beyond that I think your pushing your luck.

  • 0:25 BOOBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • waaaaaaaaaaa

  • Could this produce a mild electro motoric pulse making electronic malfuntion?

  • yep it can, if a massive one happens which is bound to happen can cause electric failures and thus everything fails. It can even cause our technological advancement to go 20 years behind because of the loss.

  • Technological avancement is in the brain not in the electricity, so no we wont go back to the time where there are no computers in houses

  • No but still. If all technology got miffed there would be starvation of epic proportions. Almost all vehicles, satellites have electric components that would be frazzled. It would obliterate the logistics and production of food. Phones would die. No computers. Running water would be out.

Making new electronic components would be tough, because the means of production would be also screwed back to the middle ages.

    Just saying.

  • But atleast we have the knowledge unlike the other thousands of people who spent hours researching and developing.

  • it would be the end of the world as we know it.

  • BS, the flares never fluctuate to the level of mass electrical failure

  • I agree not over the last 100 years but over the life time of the earth how do we know there have not already been several "perfect storm" kind of EMPs?

  • Could you shut up lol

  • lmao

  • that video said basically nothing

  • we're getting attacked by gian space toothpaste :O

  • fucking lol T_T

  • lol thats what I was thinking: Interplanitary Colgate Aqua-Fresh!

  • ROTFL

  • @violentstatistics Bring out the toothbrush. PREPARE TO RINSE.

  • Aurorae are beautiful!

  • I like her voice...its cute

  • No. No its not...

  • When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be an astronomy themed porno.

  • argh i hate the female narrator!

  • Me too!

  • What happens when you get hit by space storm?

  • You get your DNA changed,radiated and die,burnt to a crosp :)

  • what's a crosp? Whatever it is, it sounds like it really friggn sucks.

  • nice !!

  • how cool is that?

  • lol @ animation date of 2007

I guess NewScientist isn't quite the News Scientist

    AHAHAHAHAHA

  • so what this space storm do to the earth ? or what can it do ?

BTW. when i was young (im still young :P)

i was very intereset about space

  • it could cripple our power grids and disrupt all communications.

    it could be pretty bad..

  • ohh fu*** so its can be bad... ^^

  • it could be armagedon.

around 2011-2013 the sun will reach its maximum sun spot cycle. we could see earth changing events in those times.

solar storms are nothing to pee on.. ha

  • Yeah, the sun is having a "rest" now. There are BIG solar storms every 11 years, when the sun's magnetic field changes. And we're now lucky to witness the Earth's magnetic field changing too,so expect some real sh1tload of heat LOL

We might die,but only "might".Depends on the power of the storms, who knows, just live ur life :p

  • Not only that :) In about 4-6 years, when the sun's magnetic field's changing, the storms will become way more violent and might kill half life on Earth:<

  • No. Although it's true that the magnetic field is currently mid-warp it's not the storms that will become more violent but the increase in interstellar radiation may decrease cloud cover causing more drastic climate change.

  • Its hard to say, because no one really understands these things, but it is possible that for an extended period of time there will be no protective field. Think of the sine wave in alternating current; at some point between positive and negative there is no charge.

  • space storms are hard to predict

so being able to observe them should help...

really? observing space storms help? ah... help what? is this video for pre-school?

  • By observing the storms, you can find out what kind of patterns they exhibit and eventually come to a theory that can predict when they will come.

  • Just in case something bad is about to happen!

    Then we can......

Well..... we will know wen to say BYBY to earth :)

  • I like the voice - it is intelligible, clear....

  • agreed :D

  • Enough!!!!!!!!!!!!Unsubscribed because of this annoying voice.

  • Comment removed

  • I always observe a Space storm when I take a tab of LSD.

  • These are a bit too short.

    Need more detail.

  • i dont get it...

  • Space storm? So...Solar Storm or is it Cosmic Radiation? I wish they went into just a little more detail...

  • They speak like we're little kids.

  • wtf accent is that anyway?

  • It's a robotic accent. "She" is created by A.I. overlords... we should join mate, before we are inferior

  • hate her voice

  • Good luck living in Canada

  • possible...

  • In space no one can hear it rain.

  • .....lol

  • Raindrops keep falling on my head...

  • HAARP?????

  • What would happen if the space storm were strong?

  • we would all ehsploda

  • i hate misleading animations, and the first animation in this video is so completely misleading that it has no place in science.

there are no grey/blue wobbly lines hitting a two-dimensional water-like surface that actually is a magnetic field in our solar system. how can a field even be two-dimensional in our reality? it makes no sense.

  • of course, it's just a simplified visualization... how will you visualize it then?

  • Cross-section motherfucker, do you know it?

    Apparently not.

  • Try getting a scholarship at the university of Alberta first before opening your mouth

  • wut?

  • You need to get a better voice-over person.

  • agree

  • I love how gullible people absorb all of this shit like a sponge, but completely avoid absorbing the actual facts of how things work.

Why are we surrounded by gullible morons who believe the world will end in 2012. I KNEW it would get twisted eventually and this is the perfect example how.

First it was the ancient Mayan Calendar (which ends on 2012). Now it's a fucking solar storm....

    *face palm*

    Cm'on dude, seriously...

  • I agree! It is the same simple minds that think the earth is only 6000yrs old and children played with dinosaurs...Sometimes I wonder how the hell we have gotten to the point we are.

Maybe times are changing slowly and when we are all still here in 2013 people will begin to realize just how stupid they were? Maybe? I can dream right?

  • But the world HAS to end in 2012... I've planned a big End Of The World party.

Just like I did last time. ;-)

  • will u oorganize another after 2012? lol

  • ...Dont drink the punch!

  • holsson85:

you have not heared this from "solar-researchers". you heared this from idiots or conspiracy theorysts or religious morons. and you believe in it, because you are uneducated and unable to think for yourself.

sell everything you own before the world is going to end (including your computer), and do crazy things like taking on debt, this will improve the learning effect on the next day.

  • Actually, I heard it from a solar-researcher: Henrik Lundstedt from Lund Space Weather Centre, Sweden when he gave a talk at a course about natural disasters at Lund University. :)

  • bullshit

  • EARTH is the best planet in the WORLD!

  • America is the best planet in the world

  • I lol'd.

  • My house is the best planet in the world.

  • wow ummm... did it happen to make like a big boom? cuz I heard something just a few minutes ago!

  • You wouldn't hear a thing. I'd guess you heard a jet crossing the sound barrier...

  • Thats the dude next to you thumping you in the head for being such a moron lol

  • LOL

  • if you were in the acrtic watching the auroras they make a crackling sound.. no booms.

  • I'm either becoming desensitised, or her voice is improving.

  • the first

  • amazing

  • ok.

  • Nice video :).
