@StolzerSoldat86 Not really, they are somewhat different. They do look alike but they aren't i dance both styles and they are done differently.

Columbia ? It is spelled Colombia. The cumbia is from Colombia. The real cumbia is not danced like this and is not how Mexicans dance it either. It is very African sounding music and you dance without holding on to your partner without turns.

Amen, y me encanta la cumbia! Also we don't need to count our steps lol, it's not something we need to learn we just flow! When you count your steps, you see people more dancing stiff, as if they have a stick up their butt, as here, lol

puede que tengas razon, pero es que es diferente , la cumbia del norte de mexico a lo que los del centro , el D.F le dicen cumbia, por ejemplo la manera en que bailan en el video se me afigura por ejemplo a "la sonora dinamita - que nadie sepa mi sufrir".. a la mejor yo lo confundi con la musica grupera norteña, una cumbia grupera de valentin elizalde no la bailan asi, y te lo digo yo , aca en el norte de mexico nadie baila asi, en el d.f si , pero incluso ellos le dicen salsa.

es que depende mucho en chile, donde se escucha mucha villera y colombiana tampoco se baila asi normalmente pero esto lo he visto en otros lugares con peruana y colombiana

Yo soy de Mexico tambien, y aqui en mexico si hacemos esos pasos solo que no los repetimos tanto le agregamos otros, pero esto no se ensaya, el ritmo se lleva por dentro y cuando estas bailando ni te acuerdas de los pasos solo te dejas llevar, porque si te la pasas pensando como eran los pasos te trabaras, solo es de dejarte llevar por el ritmo y solo te sale, asi aprendi yo, yo no veia videos ni nada, aprendi solo dejandome llevar y la verdad bailo muy bien, dejense llevar y veran que podran ;)

Parece ser que ambos bailes tienen pasos en común y otros exclusivos de cada uno. Vi un comentario al respecto en otro video en el que un usuario comenta: "la cumbia tiene los mismos pasos básicos que la salsa, aunque se marcan de manera diferente". Supongo que se referirá a los movimientos del cuerpo, en el sentido que la salsa requiere más movimiento alternado de rodillas y caderas. Pero digo esto desde mi ignorancia respecto al arte de bailar...
