Why do I keep expecting John Lithgow and Kristen Johnson to pop out of the foreground in denim, leather, and a poodle skirt acting like naive space aliens trying to fit in????
Hey Robert - I drove you around for a summer, believe it was 1979, from Max's to CB's or for a coffee. I felt cool doing it! I had a 64 Le Mans, and was still kinda "glam" on the scene back then, but you converted me! Cheers always, Marilyn.
I remember seeing him at N.Y.C. Lone Star on 5th avenue with his sister and Susan Cohen my girlfriend at the time. In the audience Blondy, Robert Fripp from King Crimson. All these people were there for him. The year well late 70s. I think.
yes, I like this version but I still i put it second to the Burnette's classic. Also, would have been nice to see the whole band on the stage, especially that awesome bass!
Hey damijazz, do you have the Blasters clip that comes right after this? It's that song Red Rose, isn't it? I'd really, really, really like to see it if you do!
We saw Robert a few years ago at Fitzgeralds is Berwyn. I'm a fan. He did not appreciate Barbara jumping up on stage. Something about being freaked by a recent knife slashing in NYC. He did have a scar on his face.
I've been digging this guy for years. My bro. in law turned me on to his music. I didn't hear much about him for years, but heard a tune on a community radio station in k.c., which I liked a lot, around early '94-ish. I also saw him as a commenting pundant for at least one musical biography type thing on P.B.S.Very cool stuff. This is a fave out of his ones I'm familiar with. Also, see my solo & small combo performances music/comedy) on batsinyourbelfry including rockabilly-for-solo serious guitar.
Thanks!!

Just for the record, the name of the song and the album is "Rock Billy Boogie": not "Rockabilly Boogie."

After It's Only Make Believe by Conway Tritty, this the best rockabilly song ever. Love it. How can you listen without it making you smile.

Good number by Robert Gordon, but 'Drivin' Wheel' is much better.
