Phoenix and Casey Affleck left a million metaphorical flashing arrows in the process of creating this joke, and nobody picked up on it. The selection process of the Hollywood audience sucks.

If this wasn't faked, the turnaround was quite impressive. Either way, you have to hand it to him to either /act/ this well, or put himself back together after honestly being this way.

@DeKosta It just is! in general! the way i see people in public eating with beards!! getting shit caught in them! eating the shit aswell without realizing it! and they look like pubes!... especially in this case it just doesnt suit joaquin phoenix...i cant imagine eating hair constantly! the feeling of it going down my throat! i wud say a lot of people wud hav that same perception! it looks like he is eating it in parts of the interview as well!
