In LAB mode you can also use the (Image>Apply Image) method to place information from the Lightness Channel into the A & B Channels to provide color. Then you just need a Curves adjust layer to match your numbers in the info pallet. Curves provide more flexibility than Levels. You can target specific areas where you want to adjust color or contrast. Also remember that LAB mode PSD files have to be converted to RGB to print. :)
