Conservatives need to know that medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the USA. People loosing their jobs have chances of losing their coverage in this economy. Insurance companies making billions while 48 million people are uninsured and an even higher number are under insured. 1 in 5 surguries are being denied to people in need. Stupid pre-existing conditions continue to keep people uninsured. WE NEED REFORM AND WE NEED IT RIGHT NOW
@Bakersfield: We do need true reform however, putting people in jail because they can't afford the healthcare (remember $15K a year for a family under this plan) thus no insurance, & then pentalizing them with a fee, & possible jail is NOT the solution to this problem. The solution is REDUCING the cost of doctors, medical supplies etc. Example, going to the ER and they give you 2 Tylenol. You get the bill, which is $10 for the Tylenol, insurance pays $2 of it, & you get stuck with the bill.

Your insurance company saying because the hospital is in their network, the hospital took their payment as full, and the remaining $235 is not your liability. Then the hospital threatening collections 21 days after the ER visit. Then turning you into collections at 30 days (August 2009) and the collections writing the amount off. THAT IS ILLEGAL but how hospitals & the medical industry works.

Ms. Pelosi: The farce that the Democrats have put forward a a health care bill needs to be saved from itself. Why did you go back on your promise to have a floor vote on the Weiner amendment? Why did you strip out the Kucinich amendment for state-by-state adoption of single payer?
Please come to your senses or we will have no choice but to indict you as being in the pocket of the health insurance industry rather than on the side of your constituents.

Speaker Pelosi, would you please restore the Kucinich Amendment to the final health care bill? It will allow states to create their own single-payer systems to provide equitable care for their citizens. It is an important component of serious health care form and should very much be a part of the final bill.

Conservatives need to know that medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the USA. People loosing their jobs have chances of losing their coverage in this economy. Insurance companies making billions while 48 million people are uninsured and an even higher number are under insured. 1 in 5 surguries are being denied to people in need. Stupid pre-existing conditions continue to keep people uninsured. WE NEED REFORM AND WE NEED IT RIGHT NOW

@Bakersfield: We do need true reform however, putting people in jail because they can't afford the healthcare (remember $15K a year for a family under this plan) thus no insurance, & then pentalizing them with a fee, & possible jail is NOT the solution to this problem. The solution is REDUCING the cost of doctors, medical supplies etc. Example, going to the ER and they give you 2 Tylenol. You get the bill, which is $10 for the Tylenol, insurance pays $2 of it, & you get stuck with the bill.

@Bakersfield: Here's another example. Going to the ER in July 2009 with insurance. Your insurance company saying because the hospital is in their network, the hospital took their payment as full, and the remaining $235 is not your liability. Then the hospital threatening collections 21 days after the ER visit. Then turning you into collections at 30 days (August 2009) and the collections writing the amount off. THAT IS ILLEGAL but how hospitals & the medical industry works.

@Bakersfield yes I know acne, pregnancy, high blood pressure, arthritis, scraped knees and bloody noses are considered preexisting conditions. Simple, a bill/law to stop said action, not a health care program. A law is much cheaper to fund than to tax the masses for mandatory insurance, and possible jail because of not obtaining insurance.

The status quo sounds very great for you far right-wing Conservatives but people are dieing by the thousands each month because of lack of coverage. Letting people suffer and die like this is the most un-American thing to do right now.
