I would like to say that the back bone of our economy is still, hard working middle class families. This house of reps has done more for our country in the first 3 years then in the 8 years when the republicans controlled congress. Bakersfield: On your comment of Obama made am istake when he added that you have to buy health insurance, well how else are they going to pay for it? The funds have to come from somewhere. Price reform and ended pre-existing conditions would not cost anyone anything, and everyone would be able to get insurance and afford it.
Bakersfield: Not sure where you live, but in most states, if you don't have insurance, then your license gets suspended. Only reason I know a bit about this is we just got hit with a drunk driver who had no insurance. He was out of jail the same night, and got a slap on the wrist. He's still driving his car, now with a suspended license, and probably stil no insurance.

Price reduction & regulation are the only way to "fix" the system. Those amounts already exist in insurance companies of what they will agree to pay, which "most" of the time is reasonable. Your insurance company saying because the hospital is in their network, the hospital took their payment as full, and the remaining $235 is not your liability. Then the hospital threatening collections 21 days after the ER visit. Then turning you into collections at 30 days (August 2009) and the collections writing the amount off. THAT IS ILLEGAL but how hospitals & the medical industry works.

It's why that there are limited choices in each community yet there are literally thousands of companies throughout the US. Restrictive choice, which is what the democrats propose thru their everyone must pay plan, is just more of the same "FAILED POLICY!"

Bakersfield: Not sure where you live, but in most states, if you don't have insurance, then your license gets suspended. Only reason I know a bit about this is we just got hit with a drunk driver who had no insurance. He was out of jail the same night, and got a slap on the wrist. He's still driving his car, now with a suspended license, and probably stil no insurance.

Bakersfield: What we need are reforms on the cost of a $0.10 band-aid costing $20, $0.50 worth of aspirin costing $10, a $0.01 Kleenex costing $1.00, and talking to a doctor 5 minutes costing $300. Price reduction & regulation are the only way to "fix" the system. Those amounts already exist in insurance companies of what they will agree to pay, which "most" of the time is reasonable. What is left are the outrageous costs of the doctors/hospitals/drugs/etc. PT 2

The easiest way to fix this is make ALL insurance affordable, by reforming the current healthcare insurance companies. IF anyone whines about regulation, take a look at banks, wall street, DOT, Interstate systems, oil/gas, etc. Its easier to make laws than to make a mandatory unwelcomed insurance plan with a possible consequence of a jail term.

@Bakersfield: Here's another example. Going to the ER in July 2009 with insurance. Your insurance company saying because the hospital is in their network, the hospital took their payment as full, and the remaining $235 is not your liability. Then the hospital threatening collections 21 days after the ER visit. Then turning you into collections at 30 days (August 2009) and the collections writing the amount off. THAT IS ILLEGAL but how hospitals & the medical industry works.

@Bakersfield: We do need true reform however, putting people in jail because they can't afford the healthcare (remember $15K a year for a family under this plan) thus no insurance, & then pentalizing them with a fee, & possible jail is NOT the solution to this problem. The solution is REDUCING the cost of doctors, medical supplies etc. Example, going to the ER and they give you 2 Tylenol. You get the bill, which is $10 for the Tylenol, insurance pays $2 of it, & you get stuck with the bill.

It will allow states to create their own single-payer systems to provide equitable care for their citizens. It is an important component of serious health care form and should very much be a part of the final bill.

Lying nitwit! Insurance reform will only happen if you take the government and non-service delivery overhead out of the equation. Also, most of the insurance companies have gerrymandered their coverage areas to effectively reduce competition. It's why that there are limited choices in each community yet there are literally thousands of companies throughout the US. Restrictive choice, which is what the democrats propose thru their everyone must pay plan, is just more of the same "FAILED POLICY!"
