I like how cocky the narrator sounds about a 0.01% uptick in spending as if it really means that all is well in the world, nothing to see here. And yet, figures show that over 15 million people are in poverty (probably a lot more). I am so sick of consumer spending being the only metric this society uses to study its health. Stores are closing across the country, communities are failing apart, kids are going hungry in a country abundant with food. We're living in the definition of insanity.
@hollaboots takeing what you said and getting the assumption your a socailistic veiw kinda person. we the ppl shouldnt be takeing care of them they the person should be
Propaganda. Hundreds of K-marts and Sears stores are closing.Hostess is filing bankruptcy, etc.... " The largest annual increase in more than a decade" ? according to who?
@theravenweeps Hostess is filing for bankruptcy because they work with unions. They aren't hiring cheap overseas labor like other companies. DERP DERP DERP.
@gerfall Give them time. Soon you will be eating toxic Twinkies made in China. I think I would rather pay a few cents more for the Union Twinkie made in the U.S.
@gerfall Why they are filing bankruptcy isn't the point. The point is that they ARE, along with many many other companies. When companies go belly up, regardless of why, people lose their jobs. Which means more unemployment. Are you new at this?

...Or because Americans are becoming, in their minds, more health-conscious: npr. org/templates/story/story. php?storyId=145025038 "But longer term, the 87-year-old company has a bigger problem: health-conscious Americans favor yogurt and energy bars over the dessert cakes and white bread they devoured 30 years ago.
Last year, 36 percent of Americans ate white bread in their homes, down from 54 percent in 2000"
The economy isn't healthy. The gains don't really exist. It's all borrowed loans. When you go to a bank and you get a loan of 10,000 you are not 10,000 richer. That's the problem with political-economics.
it did seems everyone was more in the spirit this year i'll admit even i was
