I've played dozens of basses ranging in value from $70 to $7000. The Geddy jazz is my main bass. It easily outperforms basses that cost twice as much. Fender Japan is a TOP-NOTCH quality manufacturer (and has been for over fifteen years), and the Geddy Lee jazz bass is a WORLD-CLASS instrument.
i've played a lot of basses and the geddy is my favorite (even over rickenbackers and wals) but its expensive enough to not buy as your first bass, make sure you're in to it first :)
also, a few wrong notes but not too bad on the vid
this sounds pretty good on behalf of the left hand but your right hand needs a bit more work to sound more similar to geddy himself, for one, you need to beat the shit out of your strings with your fingers to get that his attack
Agreed, 90% of anyone that I have talked with that try to get his tone stand around wondering HOW he gets it. Its all in the right hand. he REALLY shows those strings no mercy.
my uncle has the exact bass a Geddy, his bass is 1972, sunburst with brown pickguard, same bridge, he said the reason they are crap because they are made in Japan, and they used cheap pickups on the bass. so he DOES know about basses
i bought this bass a year ago and it was my first bass. i don't have any base of comparison. but i still think it was the perfect instrument for a beginner. the neck is thin and it makes thing a little more easier.
You're good, man, You'd be great if you used that pinky though! ha jk
