I don't think this is overpriced.Their co2 kits are some of the cheapest out there. And the gravel heater is also a good thing, cuz i've seen how dramatically it improves plant growth.
talk about Hi tech. all i use in my aquarium is plant food. in conjunction with lighting left on for 8 hrs and good water quality. and they are growing really well.
@Luke19695 all of them all at once? Heaps I reckon. Over $100. Depends where you live. If you join an aquarium forum, sometimes you can ask for cheap, trade or free plants+ delivery.
Homemade CO2 is relatively easy. :/ all you need is a water bottle, a drill, airline tubing, some aquarium sealant or a lighter, and a diffuser of some sort.
Daylight CFLs are available for cheap at Lowes/Home Depot and Wal-Mart.
There are cheaper enriched substrates available at regular pet stores. Or you know, organic potting soil at Lowe's/Home Depot.
Cheaper root tabs are also available at pet stores. :/
That heating coil does sound interesting though.....
ive done planted tanks with water at 80-85.F , 3000K & 6500K bulbs ,and fish . its not hard to do . PH at 6.8-8 can grow most aquatic plants . ivenever had to have any of this hightech stuff or all these liquid fertilizers. i owna turtle tank though with goldfish feeders . i replanted my tank with small cuttings yesterday
i hope the ferropol fertilizer works... BTW i dont thin this is much to pay for a full co2 system ,if youre into your aquarium you wont feelsorry for buying it.
It all depends how much your budget is and ofcourse what you want. All the stuff in this video does help when you choose for a heavy planted thank, however this does not mean you cant have a nice planted tank with les. Co2 is a basic need for all plants. some plants wont die without a co2 system, but many plants do. Jbl is a good label, nothing wrong with this, afcourse this is a " selling" video, not a video how people should have a aquarium.
@301whitehall ~I've NEVER killed a live plant that I planted into a newly set-up tank. It helps in the cycling of a new tank. Plants can take a hell of lot more than fish when it comes to extremes. Take the afore mentioned Blue Ram, you would never want to put a Blue Ram into an un-cycled aquarium. Although plants will adapt more quickly in an established tank, it is by no means necessary.
A dial for pH? Damn, shortcuts for lazy (or super busy) people I suppose. I'm pretty sure if you can't keep control of your water chemistry without the help of expensive gadgets then you don't need to have a tank at all.
All this:Sharper Image" luxury and looks like Bill Gates would have this set up, and what do they put in it? Neon tetras. It would've been funnier if it was guppies but still.........
This is silly. It costed me about $600 to upgrade a non-planted 55gal to a high tech tank. Half of this stuff is not necessary, like who tests iron? Those that actually run tanks tend to know testing is rarely done, and how notorious tests are. You will also go broke using liquid ferts on a high demand tank. Thats why EI was created. I like fast growing plants, which need trimming on a weekly bases. My tanks can pay for their up keep in terms of fertilizer and CO2 costs, just by selling plants.
All these "toys" are really nice and all but are not nessary. You can have a great planted tank with a great fertilizer like yamato green and a southern window. CO2 is your choice their are tons of DIY CO2 videos on here. The total cost = 25.00 vs 1,700 for the JBL. Natural light is were it's at. Don't believe the lie that algae will grow. The algae is destroyed by fast growing plants, algae eating fish, shrimp, or snail. However I would;nt mind the JBL Co2 system.
after trying a planted tank for my self, i realized that the plants are much more up keep than the fish! i still think some real plants are worth it because of how they keep the water clean by sucking up all the nitrates.
Great, but too expensive. JBL is German company and these companies are usually expensive. I live in the Czech Republic and here is one Czech company too, but also expensive!
this video is good is your really serious and really want good healthy plant always...but prices are just to expensive and some people get better results with less technology in there tank
In nature, they have NO heaters :). The problem with normal heater is that it warms only leaves and not roots - which is not healthy for the plants. It is like having your feet in cold. If your tank is in a warm room and does not need to be heated much, the gravel heater is not needed. If you warm the tank a lot, you need it to keep roots warm.

Just so you guys know, almost all of the planted tanks you see that are amazing are set up with this equipment. We are talking about advanced aquarists. This is basically how I set up my planted aquariums after twenty years of experience. When you learn more you won't say such things. ADVANCED BOYS!
no need for this at all. as long as you have decent lighting and substrate your fine.
this gives people new to the hobby a miss guiding impression about growing aquatic plants :/

Step 8: Take out a mortgage to buy all of the equipment.
Also, please note you must have gel nails applied before using the equipment.

best way to heat water and inject co2 is by using the outtake water hose from your external filter .

a co2 system would be recommended, but if you do good water changes, good lighting and fertilizers, would be easier for those who are on a budget.
this shit is wayy to expensive. though in the end, the tank looks amazing. too bad the bitch showing stuff , im sure she knows nothing at all. XD

YOU CANNOT ADD LIVE PLANTS UNTIL THE TANK IS CYCLED. They're just like fish!
301whitehall 1 year ago
@301whitehall no plants take up the ammonia during cycling for their own growth so it is good to put in plants when cycling as it speeds it up
