basicly it get the lower volumes up and the higher volume down??or am i wrong? i always compress but all by ear how it sounds to me after...so i dont kno if i turn knobs right :D
I just slam the compressor in all my beats and leave it on default and dont fiddle with the knobs, is that good or bad, is my compressor working like that?
It's doing something. You're using your ears and you're probably happy with the sound - that should always be the true test rather than riding hard to theories...
...having said that, if you're sticking to presets, it might be 'working' but it's not optimised. Like an un-tuned car engine - you're not getting the best out of it if you don't change settings. Each song and beat would need different settings. It allows you greater control and a more controlled professional sound...
Do you know how to hook a redrum through a mixer in reason 4? That way you can add more effects, effects, eq, compressor to each indivudal drum than just the 2 sends.
another awsome video! drums + scream try that

Just run the output of the redrum channel into the input of the mixer channel. :)
