  • ive only recently started to get into classical music ,i like a variety of styles of music and just wish i hadnt waited till i was fifty to add classical to that list

  • I wish he would have used this theme as a violin concerto

  • WONDERFUL!

  • Achib Holub gets so into it!

  • la musica di Mendelssohn è molto passionale e sensuale. Lui e Robert Schumann sono i miei due musicisti preferiti: la loro musica esprime in pieno la loro personalità affascinante e carismatica!!!!

  • One of most beautiful endings to a symphony-- the last 3 minutes of the 4th movement. If one did not know the symphony, based on the last 3 minutes of the last movement, one could not be blamed for guessing that the king of melodies, Schubert, wrote the symphony. This performance is missing about the last 2 minutes.

  • Wait what do you mean, Schubert wrote the symphony? either you are sadly mistaken or I have been misinformed. This is a mendelssohn symphony!

  • i think there could be a misunderstanding. if i am reading NinoBrown08's comment correctly, the user is saying that if some person who did not know that this was a mendelssohn's would guess it was written by Schubert. does that help you?

  • Oh okay. Yeah I understand that. That makes sense to me. I actually thought that I was mistaken and felt stupid for a sec.

  • Yeah I know what you mean. Ive already seen it happen several times on youtube where people acredit this symphony to schubert by accident!

  • Excellent conduction!!

    Bravissimo

  • the most beautiful symphony of the 5 composed by the "mature" Mendelssohn, he made some others during his younger years, he was inspired by the scottish landscape he saw during his trips to Scotland in 1829, finally in 1842 he finished this superb and extraordinary symphony

  • That oboe player sounds so much like Lothar Koch it's scary. Amazing.

  • whoa, switch of spots for the cello and 2nds. Played this in high school; it's always good to hear a different interpertation from others.

  • thats perrrrrrrrrty!

  • Thanks to Utube, I am finally beginning to appreciate classical music. Mendelssohn is a real surprise. Nothing stodgy here. Can't believe this was from early in the 19th century.

  • Thank you very much for the upload.

I am really enjoying Mendelssohn. :)
