i think she was sick during this performance, it was after a huge string of concerts (no? yes?). I know on the Live 8 dvd shes on extras, and after watching all the songs, I can understand since this was a last minute performance. She didn't get to rehearse much and in some of the "orchestra" songs, you can see her look back in frustration at the musicians "jumping the gun". I think she was all about the cause, and put that in front of her musicianship :D
Singing isn't just about technique, it's about feeling and the use of your voice, i'd rather hear Bjork crack her voice than Maria Carey scream out loud ^^

The point to be made in an argument like this is a matter of technical vocals. When your voice cracks, it means you are straining your vocal chords or your throat is partially clogged. Bjork does one of two things when she is at her loudest; she belts or she bellows. The belt is strain, the bellow is resonant and clear. She can bellow, her vocal chords are healthy. She messes up occasionally, give her a break. At least she is good live, not like that emo bull shit.
when she cracks her voice, she is into the music, her intention is to crack her voice sometimes, it is who she is
i think that 'crack' is something she represents, a glitch in the normality of life, she knows who she is and is proud of that, she is an experience on her own,
I don't think the issue is learning how to keep your voice from cracking, this sounds like she's blown out her voice--has nothing to do with talent or experience, simply overuse
What do you mean there's no excuse?! Bjork has a massive amount of talent, who cares if her voice cracks. Doesn't everyone's voice crack at some point reguardless of how good you are? Also the part where her voice cracks isn't that noticable.
First, a crack in the voice is not necessarily a malevolent thing. It just so happens that she has either not warmed up her voice efficiently before her performance or that she has succeeded in her lack of vocal-support from her lower abdomen and thus not resonating enough through her soft pallette in order to prevent the crack.
Second, as for you saying there is no excuse for her crack: I find your comment ignorant and moronic. There is no reason for you to claim such a thing when you have NO idea what the actual production of singing requires.
Furthermore, she's Björk. Very rich. Extremely talented. Gorgeous. She can do whatever the hell she wants when she wants. Her fans and public will love her.
