Seems overly complex and I believe you used 50' of cordage to tie that in. I appreciate the fact that it's a demonstration, but I have trouble imagining myself using such a complicated and resource-heavy method.
That knot never looks quite finished to me. I'd be inclined to continue running it from the driver's side rear, through the left side of the diamond, back to the driver's side front to tie it off.
the lateral run of p-cord has a loop tied into it. By running the line back through that loop you end up creating a critical angle. Tension at that loop transmits magnified force to the two fixed ends. 10 pounds of force on the loop generates 20-50 to EACH end. Something to think about.
I think even though some simple ratchet straps would probably be easier if not quicker to use it is very cool to see how just some cord can properly secure an object.
yeah, i think i'll stick with my $7.99 tie downs.

Great job Bryan. Definitely keep this one in the brain for the just in case scenario. Stay safe out there!

Most of you who are complaining are missing the point of the video - What if you don't have ratchet straps but still need to secure something?

I usually like your vids but this was a total waste of 7:24 that I will never get back
I mean come on,who will ever use that to tie anything down when you can just throw a rope over with a truckie hitch and be on the road in seconds.
35 foot of rope to tie a plastic box down, how long do you spend undoing it.

With a couple of ratchet straps or even 2 ropes, I would have had it strapped down and gone at about 2:15 mark!

I did this same thing in my grand Cherokee last week. Great to have to keep things from moving around when you only have a few tie downs

could be pretty handy but looks like a lot of work that a simple ratchet strap would do
