This is bullshit!!! I places 4-5 hours into the game and then I get stuck at this part where I have no sniper rifle, and it turns out that I have to start over!!! It sucks!!!

Actually you do NOT need to start over. See you WILL NOT have the right Key Card to get hte Sniper Rifle while you're still in the Hanger. You have to backtrack, only now there will be turret cameras in the little snowfield where you fought hte tank, and there will be more guards on the B2 floor. The Sniper Rifle is in the top left room (room not hole in the wall), and there will be odd IR lazers. Use the Thermal Goggles. Then go back to the Sniper Area and continue on.

From what I've understood, after Meryl was shot 324567 times by Sniper Wolf, Snake got advice from - I think Otacon- that there was a sniper rifle near the beginning of the game. Snake proceeds to get it, and while he picks it up, Sniper Wolf probably sent some guards to pick up Meryl and drag her away.

This ain't Halo or Modern Warfare. You don't go head on into a fight guns blazing. You have to actually think about the fights and use the best possible methods to progress. If you can't do that play something else. Plus The End was one of the best bosses I have ever fought because he actually felt like a real sniper, watching waiting relocating. I guess average people can't get the gist of sheer brilliance.

@Patton2501 Actually the goal is to not be seen at all. Sneaking is key. If you can successfully master maneuvering around the enemies the games difficulty curve goes way down. Only thing that's hard for to avoid is the damn wolves. I just run. Almost impossible for them not to see you.

Actually, in the Cave when you are with Meril, you can hit her, and then hide in the cardboard box right away. The little wolf dog will pee on you (not making this up) and from then on you can use THAT box and the wolves will not attack you.

@Luinta wow thanks. That helps a lot I have been trying to do a perfect no unnecessary alert playthrough but every time I attempt the wolves were messing it up. I'm a master at dodging humans but I always get found out by the wolves.

Well theres a good chance you'll have to kill all the wolves but one the first time you're in there, but once in the room with Meril, jsut have the box ready (I recommend Cardboard Box B) and then hit her and duck under it. THe little wolf will pee on you and you';ll be able to get around wolves after that ^_^ There's also Sniper Wolf's Handkerchief, but that doesn't come into play until AFTER you're forced through that cave two more items for the sniper rifle

Okay dude. No offense, but I can't believe that you use that many rations and missed soooo many times. When I fought her ass I killed her without having to use any. Not to mention that if you had watched the RED laser sight you wouldn't have gotten shot so many times. It's not that hard to miss. And your aim was terrible. It's a disgrace to Solid Snake, the greatest game hero of all time. Take your time and don't rush through it all. You'll find that you use far less of your stuff if you do.

There's a couple of easy ways to defeat him. One you can save at the beginning of the fight and turn it off, turn it back on in a week and he will have died of old age. Two find with your therms and sneak up behind him. Pop him a couple of times, ditch the therms before he throws the flashbang, pop them back on and follow his foot steps. Repeat as necessary. I found that out because I had no life in high school. XD
