I have never heard of a give an take. Though, during my childhood, I grew up in a new subdivision in it's early days. So there were always these real large dumpsters throughout my neighborhood. The adventurous kid I was, I'd always go jumping in them and find all the old electronics people would ditch in there. I loved it. My parents hated it.
Ii guess the transfer station area was moar like a pre regifitng zone. The scoopy truck, would be called a front end loader. At mount Trashmoar, in Johnston, the landfill is trading in our garbage, for stinky gas. Wheee!

Your turtle moved in with me, totally. Sounds like your parents brought you to the dump to find new toys. Sorry to hear about that.
