  • ECW WCW ALLIANCE

  • I agree with you, while this is one of the weakest of the wwe documentaries, but I still like it. Could of had more to do with what you said

  • WWE buries WCW whenever it gets the opportunity. It did miss far too much. I disagree with Bret Hart being a total bust. His late 98 run was damn good. Also, you focus way too much on the negative: The "Fall" of WCW. You need to understand that WCW changed wrestling forever on Sept. 4. WCW forced the WWF to change; it made wrestling cool and mainstream again. There were issues but up until 1999 I would argue superior to RAW: rawwrestlingrants.blogspot.com.....my show by show history.

  • they need to just make a JCP dvd.. and it should be done by someone outside.. like world class heroes dvd. ( which i still haven't seen) but it misses out on a lot of stuff you pointed out.. and not to give sting a section when he was one of the thriving forces behind the company when they got rid of Flair was wrong.. I am going trade this dvd in for the Starrcade even though neither has great matches

  • @TFoundation i wouldnt say in ring wise as in star power and storylines yes. The only how i can say it was a better in ring product was the cruiserweight division. While u had goldberg vs hogan or roddy piper and hogan in the main event u had shawn or steve austin or the rock in the main event. WCW relied on there midcard to take over

  • I would love to see a DVD of just Jim Crockett Promotions because that was the most entertaining wrestling in the history of the business in my book. That was by far the best part of the DVD. What they didn't talk about is when Turner purchased JCP in late 1988, JCP was still selling out arenas all over the Southeast US. If JCP would have expanded slower, I think they would have eventually won the war. They were more innovative than Bishoff and McMahon ever have been.

  • Now quick question did you have a cold when you made this video or were you on coke? just a quick question just wondering.

  • WCW>>>>>>>>>WWE

  • WCW had the better in ring athleticism and wrestling. WWF just had better entertainment and showmanship.

  • Am I the only person that just wants to see Wrestling with a minimum of story lines, tournaments, no.1 contenders, rankings, I know its fake but I want it to seem competitive

  • They skipped alot on the Monday Night Wars DVD. I think they should put in more late WCW things and what WCW was trying. Your right though, they should make a FULL WCW dvd.

  • Also,They have blurred the lines between a face and a heel and are trying to clarify them with story lines and shoots and we can see how that is working out. When some one in TNA or WWE figure this out is when you will see wrestling make a come back.

  • @kpny1961 you have to have a clear bad guy and good guy, there's just so many unwritten rules like you should long and hard before having a heel cleanly win over a face in the main event, yeah sure it could happen in the real world but this is wrestling, all major factions should be heels etc.

  • Lets face it,wrestling sucks now and lack of any kind of knowledge to what the "fan" wants to see is what killed WCW.

What made wrestling popular was basic " good vs bad" and its that simple. All the high flying moves, shoots , gimmics or girls dressed in lingerie will not bring wrestling back to what it was during the NWO yrs.

  • Also, they have blurred the lines between a face and a heel and are trying to clarify them with story lines and shoots and we can see how that is working out. When some one in TNA or WWE figure this out is when you will see wrestling make a come back.

  • Well what happened, Vince Russo, David Arquette, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, Master P, gimmick matches, anything after 1998 pretty much sucked and killed wcw.

  • damn man... you are always complaining. Have you ever worked in the industry?

  • and vince russo killed WCW with matches like viagra on a pole and the hogan vs. jarrett fiasco. when you piss off the fans and don't give them what they want you're doomed to fail

  • @metalmadness: Hogan wasn't a booker he had creative control but he didn't book matches, that was kevin sullivan. he was main eventing because he put the asses in the seats. I'm sick of people saying he refused to put anybody over he lost to Goldberg, the giant, DDP, sting, kidman, ric flair, and more. he even lost to jay leno. anybody who watched the WCW and not just repeat what they've heard would know that.

  • @leetexterror

So let me ask u dis, u gunna take ur hottest star (Goldberg) take the belt off of him by Nash then a week later, Nash hands Hogan the belt??? That was hogan pulling B.S strings and killed Goldbergs mometum and turned off fans to more WWE

  • @KingOfRock8887 idk man people were booing Goldberg every night. They needed to get some heat on him. Hell just watch when Nash beats him that crowd goes crazy.

  • thanks for recommending the death of WCW way more detail it was great

  • hogan is their biggest you really think vince wants everyone to know about the real hogan & all shit he did in wcw like giving himslefs fat paychecks & booking himself on top no

  • i demand a part 2 to this WCW dvd

  • Good video man, its the first one that I have watched all the way through on this particular topic. I was thinking of buying the DVD, but wasn't sure, this made my decision, thanks

  • WWE still kiss Hogan ass by telling then he wasn't respnsible for WCW's death when oblivosly he was

  • yeah but sadly we can't do shit cause WWF(won't refer to E) owns the rights to it.

  • bring it back i mean they brought ecw witch shouldnt bean brought back wcw had way better talent sting , and yes undertaker was in wcw before his wwf days and i agree wwf and wwe are the same there are no differences why ecw is the only one to come back

  • realy if wwe brings back wcw ,wcw is goin to b shitty just like ecw so let wcw rest in peace or have eric bishop bring back wcw then wcw would b somthin but tna is prolly goin to b the closest to wcw we will ever get like they have xpac and kevin nash in sum shit called "the band" or cover up for "nwo"

  • Your the only person on youtube who actually knows your wrestleing

  • I remember when Flair left. It was after I got my GMB tickets in Baltimore where he was supposed to wrestle Lex Luger. The whole crowd chanted "WE WANT FLAIR! WE WANT FLAIR!".

That's when the NWA truly died for me and WCW took off..

  • are you ever pleased? too negative man, its just wrestling!

  • Also NWO back in Black DVD was a great detailed look into them.

WCW dvd didnt have jack shit. Didnt even mention wolfpac!! WTF? they talked more about Goldberg more then anyone. Fuck that i was pissed

  • they didnt even talk bout sting he was one of the reasons ratings rised

  • This DVD was not that good and they left too much out alot.

  • You'll like the book. It's that awesome.

  • The Death of WCW book is a great read. It tells the story of WCW in great detail.

  • Few years time it will be rise and fall of TNA LOL

  • tru dat.

  • @paulk360

That DVD will not sell. There has to be a rise before the fall.

  • @paulk360 or just the fall of TNA

  • Eric Bischoff's book was better than the DVD.

  • I thought the dvd sucked...I saw most of that footage back when I watched the Monday night wars show.

  • Bischoff does not speak in this DVD in new interviews! Thats what sucks, I want to here everything from the man who made it big himself!! not fucking Vince Mcmahon's watered down version.

  • They totally dropped the ball on this dvd. The doc shouldve went to about 3-4 hours. You thought the doc was bad, the matches they included were terrible. there were other matches that were more deserving to be on this DVD; Rey Mysterio Vs Eddie Guerrero Havoc 97, DDP Vs Randy Savage, Ultimo Dragon vs Dean Malenko (Starrcade 96), War Games 97 just to name a few. Very Disappointing.

  • Mate theres only sooo much they can shove on a DVD.I thought it was a very good DVD myself.

  • noo..... It's just a DVD about WCW's life-span.

  • The sports show feeling is what I liked about WCW. It felt like a major league promotion imo.

  • Yeah WCW was much better than WWF. Only kids liked WWE because they thought the Attitude era stuff was cool but WCW was more wrestling oriented which was great for people who liked wrestling.

  • I agree, WCW had the better wrestling to be honest, looking back when the WWF boomed in 98 with Austin and Vince it sucked in my opinion, apart from that Feud, The Rock and The Undertaker everything else was dull, the In-Ring Wrestling was crappy.

  • WWF had more brawiling than wrestling. WCW had a balanced of both.

  • @MrPezzzz

I agree, "The Attitude Era wasnt about wrestling. it was just bout sex, violence, blood and other shit, WCW took wrestling more seriously, and ppl act like the attitude era was the best thing and only era in wrestling

  • Yeah it could have been better.

  • syke im playin waddup ts

  • the supervirgin is back!!!

  • Every time I have ever heard Mike Graham talk, he comes across as one of those extremely bitter guys who has an axe to grind and who has a very selective memory.

  • whats the name of the song in the intro?

  • Only 105 mins of documentary?

    That is horrible.

  • i think they've rather not bash wcw, in fear of losing more fans, and i can also understand that.

  • i thought the mondaynight wars movie was great and then i saw this and was like this. but ecw was the best.

  • People this isn't the ECW dvd. If anything, some of you got lucky on that! Now that we've established it can we just move on and actually focus on WCW? lol

  • didn't Jarrett try to buy wcw but vince convinced them to sell it to him

  • Bischoff tried to and he had a lot of money and some good investors to buy it, however AOL sold it to Vince.

  • getting mine signed signed by nash then selling it on ebay

  • Let's not forget The No-Limit Soldiers and the "Rap is Crap" storyline with Hennig and the other redneck cats. You can say what you want about how corny it was, but it was a nice crossover attempt from WCW and made some headlines. Dare I say, Hennig's Country music style song made more news than Jarrett's from WWF. I mean, if that doesn't count for something, I don't know what does. It's still worth mentioning.

  • bad review..it was a good dvd. truth slayer its time you get a girl friend

  • Why, DenGual10? Because his opinions are different from yours? Idiot.

  • You misspelled *buy in the sidebar.

  • Wow I was about to go out and buy this DVD but after watching this I don't think I will. So they skipped out on the Alliance to End Hulkamania AND the Hogan/Sting feud? The whole storyline with Sting vs. the NWO was epic and extremely entertaining. If the WWE won't even acknowledge that then I've lost even more respect for them. And the Alliance to End Hulkamania...I don't think much needs to be said about that other than what you said, it was kind of an old 80s type storyline.

  • I am not sure If I am gonna get the DVD..Is it good? Cuz I like WCW

  • Its too bad that the DVD didn't meet expectations.

I'm not a fan of WCW, but became interested in how a company with many star power in Hogan, Nash, Sting, etc, became a failure and met its demise to the WWE.

    Good review!

  • The AOL-Time Warner merger, Russo, Bischoff. There were many factors.

  • I've noticed throughout the years kevin Nash is a jerk all he cares about is his wallet not about making aj better or making Mick foley look like a hardcore legend but just really carting about winning and away being in the top spot and having the highest pay when it comes down to it and it's his gimmick also but he's real asshole

  • i really enjoyed the "Monday Night Wars" DVD and i bought it for fife Australian dollars

  • i shoulda waited for ur review b4 i bought this dvd....it felt so incomplete and if i had a webcam or something of that nature to make my youtube uploads easier, i woulda done a review last week. the matches are good, but the documentary portion sucked. i also felt the Jim Crockett portion and the early WCW coulda been explained a bit better, but i got the jist of it.

  • Despite the controversy, they didn't mention to authentic beef between Kevin Sullivan and Chris Benoit.

  • I haven't seen the dvd but it sounds like somebody wants to pat themselves on the back. It sounds more glorious to fight back and turn the tables on one who is healthy as opposed to turning the tables on a cancer ridden foe.

  • How can you do a dvd about wcw and not include Sting vs Hogan? and they never talked about war games.

The matches were really good though on the other 2 discs. and they did have a war games one

  • thanks, you saved me £20-30

  • the Best Buy in my town has three disc WWE dvd's for pretty cheap, I saw the WCW one yesterday for seventeen dollars, and I got the Randy Savage dvd for 11 bucks with a coupon

  • WWE 2009 = WCW 2000

  • WOW you meant TNA 2009 right?

  • No he meant WWE 2009. Quit trying to hate on TNA for no reason. WWE is doing abysmal stuff that WCW in 2000 was doing. And TNA right now isn't doing anything abysmal if you've watched the product over the past few weeks. They've been heading in a great direction since they took JJ & Dutch off of the creative team.

  • @silverbluejc

u serious, WWE is business, WCW 2000 was nothing but garbage, i know wwe aint like it used to be but comparing WWE to WCW in 2000 where they did a viagra on a pole match is retarded

  • Man you don't like Hogan do you, and dont get your facts wrong Hogan was getting booed when he left WWF, when he was first in WCW the crowd loved him. Don't let your anti Hogan mindset block the truth. I agree with you 90% of the time but with Hogan I gotta disagree with the concept that he's some monster of wrestling, sucking it's life force.

  • When he first showed up YES...but then what happend he started getting booed again. Also he was not the savoir of the company like the DVD said he was. Again the skiped most of the BAD stuff when hogan was there.

  • Until wwe puts aside their various agendas and feuds for the sake of quality dvd's, we will never get the full story on any dvd. They were on a roll there for a while with products like Self Destruction of Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts: Pick Your Poison and The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class. Everything that followed those has considerably sucked.

  • They also switched production companies so that is part of the problem I think.

  • it seems that wwe is half assed about their dvds like they are about their current product

  • Yeah man WWE has gotten lazy because of no competition, it was obviously so much better in the 90's when the WWF was competing with WCW and ECW

  • Nash was way more over in wcw then the Giant

  • Thanks to your video, i went ahead and bought the book instead. And I haven't put it down since. Simply witty, and it's not partial to WWF or WCW.

  • Needed Benoit matches to me. The comments and TS's review makes me not wanna buy the thing. Might as well buy the M.N.W.'s DVD. Cause really the book was good and the shoot interviews with Nash and others who have made one still shyts on this DVD from what people ave projected on here.

  • I cant wait for the Rise and Fall of TNA

  • The Rise and Fall of TNA sounds great but for that there first needs to be a rise lol

  • keep waiting

  • WWE = making money off of dead companies.

  • Is this as good or better than the Rise and Fall of ECW?

  • Rise and Fall of ECW was a damned good DVD and I expected for WWE to completely shyt on it. Now i'm leery about the Rise and Fall of WCW cause Nash is not there to tell his side of it and I don't think they even contacted Hall for it. Hell is it worth buying?

  • @antiembishop07

    Don't buy it.

  • @ricane89

The Rise and Fall of ECW is way, way, way better than the Rise and Fall of WCW. The WCW documentary was half assed. You'd be better off reading a book about the history of WCW. Read the Death of WCW. I heard it's good.

  • You want WWE to document unconsqeuntial things? Bad booking happens. If WWE hammered home on it then it would have been stupid as WWE and other promotions have had tons of shit booked over the years. There are however MAJOR booking flaws that are huge turning points for a company. Coal Miners glove was stupid but it was not a turning point like: The finger poke of doom, Bash 2000 shoot, NWO forming, Russo booking,

  • That movie as a film is kinda fun.

As build up it's total shit.

  • Death of WCW is wayyyyyyyyyy better. WWE couldn't do what they wanted on their DVD. But if you can't do a good job dont do it

  • I also love how people say WWE never takes shots at people and get mad when Borash made the comment about Raw. Yet WWE took a shot at the co-founder of TNA in this dvd. I guess thats different?

  • Before watching I was worried they were going to bury WCW. Being a huge WCW fan I felt this DVD was for me. Not for wwe fans but for WWE to try and sell a dvd to fans that stopped watching wrestling when wcw ended.

Looking back I think the reason they didnt bury the company is because this company almost killed them. And it looks bad saying:

This company was a piece of shit......but we were worse then them for 64-84? weeks? When we lost the ratings war and almost died because of them

  • You make some good points Tslay. I still enjoyed the DVD but I think Bishoff refusing to do a new interview for the DVD and just re-using the interview from the Monday Night War DVD hurt the over-all DVD. As far as Hogan goes, if he had not come to WCW in 94 they would have gone under much sooner.

  • What's it like to be a Giant Faggot?

    Just curious

  • I hope that's a joke. That movie insults me as a fan of wrestling, and as a fan of films

  • Totally disagree with 4:20

The person who made this DVD was too concerned with not burying WWF - NOT WCW. One of the main reasons that WCW "rose" was due to the WWF being absolutely god awful at the time.

3 squash matches and a Doink main event....that's was Raw used to be.

How on earth did you find that, or anything else that WWF did until about late '97, any good?

You wanna know how awful the WWF was back then? It's easy. Watch the USA network this Monday night at 9pm edt.

  • lol@ the last part. Exactly. That's what Raw is these days.

  • I agree with you,but Wrestling is drove Right back In to the 80's again I mean look at it John cena=New Hulk hogan Hornswoggle=The new Doink Familiar Isn't it??

  • I honestly feel that Disc 2 alone makes this worth the purchase. Full of great matches, plus its got Sting/Luger vs. Steiners from Superbrawl I, which imo is one of the best tag matches Iv ever seen

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe wwe made it to be crap so people wouldnt want to bring back WCW? Did you ever think of that??!?! o.0

  • I guess this is another classic example of the book being better than the dvd lol

  • If you got the Monday Night War DVD than theres really nothing new in this DVD.

  • Yeah, as I was watching it I was like "I've already seen this".

  • the Monday Night War DVD is already biased. why even bother putting this up?

  • On Amazon, you can purchase The Death of WCW for $13, and it is eligible for free shipping on orders over $25.

  • how old is trueslayer?

  • Too old. Like late 30's.

  • Is the Monday Night Wars better than this?

  • yes

  • "By The Death Of WCW MUCH BETTER!!"

    Buy*

  • Comment removed

  • I hate how WCW now has the reputation of being so bad that nothing good ever came out of it, which isn't true at all IMO (96-97, it was awesome). So obviously, I am very unwilling to pick this DVD up because I just pictured it being a WCW jokefest the entire time.

  • 1hr 40 running time? that sucks

  • I also thought it was odd that they didn't talk about flair/heard. However they had talked about on the flair and horsemen dvd's what is left to say?

  • the rise and fall wcw was a huge failure.... they took most of the material off of the monday night wars dvd and just put it into the rise and fall of wcw dvd.... they didnt talk about the real details, and they skipped way to many important things.

  • I would say no. The best NWA/WCW matches can be found on the other WCW related DVDs already put out. I get the Starcade DVD for the matches and the Flair DVDs as well.

  • At least WCW can take credit for putting out the best wrestling video game ever - WCW/NWO Revenge. To this day, that trumps any WWE Smackdown game.

  • Oh well..picked this up Tuesday and got it for 5 bucks because I had a gift card. I didnt expect anything great but now I will have to check out that Death Of WCW book. Thanks TSlay.

  • There's only one reason to buy the Rise & Fall of WCW...getting the nWo retro t-shirt through WWE Shop.

  • this is why i dont buy dvds that are not wwe related....

  • LOL ya the Coal Miner's Glove Match. That is on my Best of Halloween Havok video

  • it's about time the wwe did a dvd on wcw

  • Just shows how much vince hates wcw!!

  • As bad as WCW Nitro was in 2000-2001, if I was forced to pick between that and the current crap that is WWE Raw I'd still watch Nitro.

  • LOL, I think WWE pulled a TNA by having more promos/segments than wrestling.

  • I thought it was "OMG" through parts of the DVD and it didn't EVEN talk about when NWO beat Rey Mysterio outside in the parking lot. That someone phoned the police from a near by neighborhood thinking a gang WAR was going on...Lol

Also it didn't talk about half the roster being in the NWO cause no one could beat them.

And out of CONTEXT it completely bashed Jeff Jarrett OUT OF nowhere saying he smashed 600+ guitars and couldn't draw a dime. Made no sense... DVD is good but worse than ECW one

  • WHAT YOU...!!!!!!!! going to do BROTHER when WWE can't made a descent DVD???

  • The documentary isn't good, its just basically a quick overview. But the matches that I've seen so far on the DVD are pretty damn good. I mean, Flair/Steamboat at Chi-Town for god's sake.

  • For anyone who doesn't know, Flair vs Steamboat @ Chi-Town Rumble is already out on the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80's dvd. I have not seen this new WCW dvd, but from what i'm hearing, Stars of the 80's is more worth your money

  • I know that but the rest of the matches on disc 2 are pretty damn good.

  • goldberg said jericho's name

  • Dude Tslay the link you sent...is the book.

    Not the DVD?

  • Precisely. That's why he said the book is much better. So you will look in to buying it instead of this disappointing DVD.

  • what is the best wcw documentary? can anyone help me with this...all i got is monday night wars

  • There are no other documentaries just on WCW, but The Definative Ric Flair Collection is probably the best one to get for a lot of great WCW footage

  • thanks i appreciate this man...

  • i watched it on justin tv last night and its a wwe sugarcoated crap, another childhood memory washed down the drain

  • glad u agree man cos when i did my review i was expecting alot of people to disagree with me

  • so should i still still buy it just to waste time?

  • Well I'd but it for the matches.

  • i got it because i didnt watch much wcw back in the day and wanted the matches on the 2nd and 3rd disc, the documentary is interesting but its like josh says, its a blown opportunity

  • I was gonna get it when it came out then something in me said no. My friend brought it and I knew sting and certain other things would be left out.

  • is dvd rocks

  • I started losing interest when Sting got the big push and then again when Hogan was brought in. IMO, it was at its best in the mid 80s.

  • I thought they handled Goldberg really well. I dont know about you if you agree, i just watched their a minute ago.

  • no they didn't he no sold everything i didnt like it

  • well jarrett isnt in the same league as hogan for a start, and we wasnt exactly a young or new guy at the time, i found the dvd depressing

  • i watched the dvd and yes the documentary fucking sucks, just skipping through stuff and relying on old footage of guys like hogan and bishcoff weve heard before, the matches on the dvd are good though

  • If WCW was still around, I could choose between watching Nitro instead of RAW on Monday Night
