Monster hit on WOR-FM 98.7, the greatest FM station of all time anywhere. It was a stone smash in the fall of `68. Their play list was so much hipper than WA Beatle C or WMCA plus every other song they played was an oldie from `67-`72.
On December 24, 2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning a boy named Scott Jackson was found dead. Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened. Turns out he was stll signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter. If you dont repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will come and kill you.sorry don't wanna die
Actually the only two releases of this particular song that I'm aware of were by the Happenings and The Duprees. The others were a completely different song originally put out by Jesse Belvin in 1955-56. Jesse wrote that one but I'm not sure he ever got credited. Alan Freed used to sign off his radio show with the Belvin recording which remains a classic.
This Duprees release was in 1968; it bubbled under in Billboard for 3 weeks in November. As previously pointed out, the song by the McGuire Sisters, etc. is a completely different song, which charted pop by 5 different artists from 1957-69, with 2 additional r&b chart versions in 1956 & 77, the former being the original Jesse Belvin hit. Interestingly, both songs include the line "sleep tight my love".
I had this on a 45 when I was little... This is the only clip I can find that has the correct "Goodnight My Love" lyrics... but my 45 was by another group... but I can't recall their name! *EEP* Well, I guess it's not on YouTube anyway. I sure can't find it, so...
Thank you, VinylNostalgia, for posting this one!! ;) :)
@VinylNostalgia That ain't the same song! There are three different "Goodnight My Love"'s and this is not the one sang by the Fleetwoods or Paul Anka.
That other group was the Happenings who recorded it in late 1966. There is another totally different song with the same title, but a different melody and different lyrics that was a hit for Jesse Belvin in 1956 and later by Paul Anka in 1969.
I love this version of this song. The Happenings version is really good, but there's something more subtle about this rendition. The Duprees truly were an underrated, versatile group with a strong harmony blend. I love their Columbia, Heritage sides in particular, and Mike Kelly was my favorite Duprees' lead singer.
i cant even begin to tell you how excited I am for them, and eager to hear them sing again. I have talked to Salvato a few times and he says mike sounds great too. Im happy for them! when when??

@Howieshet Could be, Howie but I can't find it. If you have it, you should post it just for the history of it!

In my opinion this was one of the very best songs that the Duprees ever released. Comparable to the Happenings version.

Kelly was laying down vocal tracks in the studio just this week. I understand that the engineer at the studio was blown away with what he heard.
