@monkeyybutt24 In Camtasia, set the recorder to record at 30fps. Set the screen size to 1280 X 720 and record. After recording and editing, render to mp4 and upload to YouTube.
I have a question. Is there any way to record at 30 Fps but not effect what you are recording? Cause anytime i record what i record ends up being slow and unresponsive.
@Kazuhamino I record all my videos at 30fps and have no problems editing or playing them. However, recording 30fps requires a fast computer, a fast hard drive, a good video card. If your computer lacks memory, or has a slow CPU or slow hard drive, recording and edting 30fps screencaptures will be difficult.
@guerillabill Thats the thing tho. My computer is a power house. but it doesnt seem to matter when i record. I even watched my task manager when i record and it never goes above 70% but yet i still get it. and it never used to. its only these past few months that it has been acting up.
@Kazuhamino I'm running a Windows 7, 64 bit computer with an Intel i-7 processor and 12 gig of Ram. Also have a Nvidia video card with 1024 meg Ram. I have no problems recording 30fps video, even high speed video with Camtasia 6. If you have a fast computer and still have problems, it could be a virus or some other program causing interference with the video stream
@guerillabill Im running Windows 7 ultimate 64. with an athlon II x2 250. 4 gigs of ram and a Nvidia 9500GT. I havent changed any of it and it worked better a couple months ago. It only started after i reformated after i first bought camtasia. so i think i may have not downloaded something camtasia uses.
@guerillabill I'm running windows 7, 64bit, intel celeron 900 (2.2 ghz single core), and 2 gb of ram, i forgot what video card it has but i'm sure its semi-decent. i can get it to work except video and audio is offsync and its a little pixelated. also like some of these other people, my computer's slow when using it. i've tried tweaking a few settings, but no dice. any suggestions/help??
@bconover93 2 gig of Ram is just barely enough to start Windows 7. Add in Sony Movie Studio, and your computer is memory starved. If you have Windows 7, 64 bit, upgrade the Ram to 8 gig and it'll run amazingly fast.
@guerillabill i have no clue if it can fit that much ram and it'd probably be cheaper to get a new computer. Besides, the only ram-hogs i have are Sony Vegas and Photoshop. FL Studio runs surprisingly smooth (except when i have a bunch of patterns loaded especially with plugins like Nexus or Harmor).
@bconover93 If you are running Windows 7, 64 bit, and if the computer has a 64 bit mother-board, you should be able to put at least 8 gig of Ram in it. The 2 gig of Ram you have is just barely enough to keep Windows running.
@juggolo According to Intel's web site, to use a 64 bit OS, you need an 'entire 64-bit hardware solution', including a motherboard capable of mounting a 64 bit CPU. Find this by searching google for 'Intel 64 Integration'
@guerillabill RAM stands for random access memory, adding more of it will only give you more memory which means you are able to have more memory locations accessible for the processor to use. The speed of a computer is determined by the processors speed (usually measured in GHz) which is the amount of data the processor can transfer per clock cycle
@4whitepaws Having more memory allows Windows and programs to operate faster. The computer hardward may not be faster, but having enough memory so the program and operating system doesn't have to constantly use RAM to swap out program segments, speeds up the program, speeds up video rendering, and means the OS and programs are not RAM starved.
@Arkangames In the camtasia recorder, you can set the audio input options. Usually you'll choose a microphone. If your audio card supports it, you can also choose to record audio from the computer as well as microphone audio. Most onboard sound cards don't support this.
hi men do you know why my camtasia 6 is not producing my videos when ist rendering just record like 20 % and then goes to 100% and whe i play it just like 2 minutes of the videos are played and the video was for 10 mintues
@Win7Tutorials2012 I get great audio using a USB microphone. But if you use a microphone connected to your audio card, it can cause audio out of sync problems.
Good video Bill, one quick question I can never seem to get audio to work. I'm trying to record audio off my screen but can't. do u know what settings id use to be able to capture the audio along with the video. I'm using version 7. I subscribed a long time ago
@TylertheGeek28 In the Camtasia recorder, check audio options. If 'speaker output' is not grayed out, you can click it to record computer audio. If it is grayed out, it means your video card doesn't support recording computer audio into camtasia.
In that case, just put your microphone close to your speakers.
so is the yellow halo mouse highlighter visible to you, or is it just visible in the video, and how do i get it? and can you use it without having camtasia settings on?
Are you using Camtasia for THIS Youtube presentation. Does Camtasia have the highlighted Mouse tip as shown in this presentation or is this some sort of add-on. Thanks Bill.
aaa okey! thanks.. but there is a function that camtasia makes it automatic??? because while I proved the recording, the picture its move by itself (as a frame of yellow color) and were applied a small zoom lens if I move the mouse, moved away I gave account when I saw the recording and I have seen and in other videos of tutorial... thanks again...
Im using this software to do a tutorial on a music program but the screen recorder wont record the audio from both me talking into the mic and the sounds from the music software. What do I need to do to fix this?
Depending on your computer sound card and the microphone you use, you may have the option to record microphone and sound card at the same time.
To find out, start camtasia recorder, select the drop down in the audio options, select 'options' and see if you can select 'microphone and speaker audio' as your recording source.
This may not be available depending on your microphone and sound cart set up
i think thats exactly what the problem is because when i use my recording software i cant hear my vocals through my headphones. what do i need to know when purchasing a sound card?
recording sound card is also possible by taking a cable with two jack-ends and plugging one jack in your headphones-lineout and the other end in your microphone :)
Sometimes I will lock the video part of a video then cut out 2 or 3 words and replace them with different words, this causes the video and audio after that to be out of sync, then I have move audio around on timeline and line it back up again. Can a section of audio be muted and the new words be added in another audio timeline to prevent the out of sync probelm?
hope im not bothering you too much with all these questions.
If i edit a small sized video 320x240 can i still use your "camtasia settings for youtube best results" video as a guide by enlarging it in order for it to be uploaded and shown on youtube in HQ ?
When I add a video that already has sound in it (to edit) to the timeline only the video shows up. The audio timeline is empty
If i screen record the video first (with audio on) then i can get the audio to go in timeline OR if I screen record the audio, produce it as mpeg4 then add it seperately I then can get the audio in timeline. But both ways seem unnecessary.
HOW DO I GET AUDIO IN THE TIMELINE at the same time i put the video w/sound in the timeline?
If you use camtasia recorder to record the screen and audio, the audio will appear on the timeline with the video.
If you import video from other sources, and the video has audio attached, and the codec required to edit that audio is on your computer, the audio will appear in the timeline.
But if the source audio is compressed with a codec like divx or xvid (cell phone, video game, digital camera), you may not have the required codec to edit the audio, and it won't show on the timeline
Hey i can´t put it in WMV format =( and i want NO HD but Widescreen can you help me please?
I record my videos with 640x480 like you but i want Widescreen please help me!
Wen i do the things i see in youtube,my video make big but it lose things in the window, you now,if i record my screen and do the settings,my video lose my "Start" Menu and things like that
I have a question for you. If i went into "Batch Production" and went to the part where you choose the quality ( low, medium, high, best), would choosing "best" for its quality make the file size of my video bigger? Why can't we use .mov for example. I've seen videos that suggest that and those people have been getting great quality videos.
Also, when i click on "file", i can see the option "Produce Video As" except i can't click on it. When i import media and then try to click "file" i still see the option but i can't click on it. The only time i get to use this option is after i have made my video. This is when you look at the preview. I'm just wondering how you can use that option while you imported a video.
okay i have camtasia studio 6 and my computer is slow whenever recording do you know if theres any setting to change that or is there like a better screen grab then camtaisa?
hey does it have the option for recording background audio? like if ur playing a shooting game u also want the background audio like gun shooting sounds
There aren't any settings to change. If your audio and video are not syncing during recording, it usually means there's too much load on your processor.
Check to see what other programs are running and close them.
I have lag when recording games with this...now my PC is a high end machine with top of the range specs so its not a shit PC...do you know how I can reduce lag while playing games?
Fraps is the best for video games, But if you want even BETTER quality (High Definition) use Fraps, put the game video onto Windows Movie Maker, then just look at my tutorial video for the rest. (only like 2 of my videos aren't in HD) but yeah, thats the best way :)
yea.. hey dude, can u message me cause i dont have any trouble with audio delay/sync but the videos lag themselves, if u wanna see what i mean, check the Aviansies Loot video i made. Help me out?
I'm having trouble with the audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION. Can someone please help me with this?
Also how can I make LONG recordings (1 to 2 hours) without having a HUGE file size? For example, I wanna let Camtasia start recording a video I'm streaming and I wanna leave my house and come back and press STOP. How can I do this w/o having a HUGEEEEE file size AND have audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION?
I'm not gonna upload the videos anywhere so the quality doesn't need to be superb.
Long videos will often have audio sync problems when played back on a computer, regardless of how they were created or in what format they were stored.
For best results with Camtasia, record in short segments and use Camtasia theatre to build a menu tying the segments together.
In Camtasia recorder, there is a pause button that will pause your recording for as long as you like. To resume recording, click the resume button.
What do you mean, "Long videos will often have audio sync problems when played back on a computer, regardless of how they were created or in what format they were stored."??
Then where CAN the videos be played back without having the synchronization issue? Then what's the purpose of camtasia?
i did this and while im recording its all good but then when i look at the vid it comes out laggy or it doesnt look good any help or tips??

I tried to upload video that was made with camtasia but i can't!Help?
9Tasa9 2 years ago
Use 'produce as' to produce the video using the settings shown above, and then upload the .wmv file created.
guerillabill 2 years ago
I have a question for you. If i went into "Batch Production" and went to the part where you choose the quality ( low, medium, high, best), would choosing "best" for its quality make the file size of my video bigger? Why can't we use .mov for example. I've seen videos that suggest that and those people have been getting great quality videos.
WindGod12 2 years ago
I have created a production preset in Camtasia which I use to get best result when uploading to YouTube.
If I were to use batch production, I would choose that preset for all videos in the batch.
The mov format can produce good results - assuming you have the quicktime encoder on your computer.
The video above was produced to wmv, and it has excellent quality
guerillabill 2 years ago
Also, when i click on "file", i can see the option "Produce Video As" except i can't click on it. When i import media and then try to click "file" i still see the option but i can't click on it. The only time i get to use this option is after i have made my video. This is when you look at the preview. I'm just wondering how you can use that option while you imported a video.
WindGod12 2 years ago
You can't use 'produce video as' until you place at least one clip on the timeline.
After you import media, drag it to the timeline.

turtwig1313 2 years ago
You can find where to download the big red cursors in my YouTube video, 'High Visibility Mouse Pointers for Video'.
The yellow highlight is built into Camtasia recorder

okay i have camtasia studio 6 and my computer is slow whenever recording do you know if theres any setting to change that or is there like a better screen grab then camtaisa?
THEDAILYLIFESHOW 2 years ago
If your computer is slow when recording it suggests you either don't have enough Ram, or the computer is running other programs that slow it down.
If Windows VIsta, you need a min of 4 gig of ram. If XP, you need at least 2 gig of Ram

devilhunter264 2 years ago
For best results with Camtasia use a USB headset as your microphone.
guerillabill 2 years ago

pepsiboy108 2 years ago
The yellow highlight around the cursor is an option in Camtasia recorder.
The big red cursors can be found and downloaded from my site for free.

AZJohny 2 years ago
Yes, you can set Camtasia to also record audio from the speakers (sound card)
guerillabill 2 years ago

Camtasia is screen recorder software.
guerillabill 2 years ago
what are the settings to sync your voice with video cause i was playing with the settings so i need to know what the defaults are :)
GracefulGrowlithe 2 years ago
Your microphone input is automatically synced to video when you record with Camtasia.
For best results, use a USB microphone, not one connected to your sound card
guerillabill 2 years ago
nooo i know that its lately my videos have been lagging abit behind and i wanna know what the default settings are cause i prolly messed them up
GracefulGrowlithe 2 years ago
There aren't any settings to change. If your audio and video are not syncing during recording, it usually means there's too much load on your processor.
Check to see what other programs are running and close them.
guerillabill 2 years ago
OKAY
GracefulGrowlithe 2 years ago
Since Youtube is now widescreen, is there a format in which I can make my videos HD?

Yes. See my YouTube video - Camtasia HD widescreen settings

how to you zoom in while recording?
KrisNavi088 2 years ago
You can zoom in while recording, but I prefer to add the zooms during editing.
Doing so gives more creative control and avoids having to re-record in cases where the recorded zoom wasn't what you wanted.

thanks dude :)

How do get such a high frame rate for recording?
Like your mouse moves when you do, and on other videos the mouse lags. How'd you get it to move like you did?
JdBoii94 3 years ago
In Camtasia Recorder, I set the record frame rate to 30
guerillabill 3 years ago
Ok, I set mine to 30 aswell, but mine isn't as fast as yours. Do I increase the frame rate?
JdBoii94 3 years ago
No, 30fps is full frame rate.
If you are seeing problems, it might be your computer is not fast enough to record full 30fps
guerillabill 3 years ago
What codec do you use to record?

What software does screen recording without camera besides Camtasia?

I have lag when recording games with this...now my PC is a high end machine with top of the range specs so its not a shit PC...do you know how I can reduce lag while playing games?
AppleAssassin 3 years ago
Camtasia may not be the best choice to record computer games. Try FRAPs
guerillabill 3 years ago
Fraps is the best for video games, But if you want even BETTER quality (High Definition) use Fraps, put the game video onto Windows Movie Maker, then just look at my tutorial video for the rest. (only like 2 of my videos aren't in HD) but yeah, thats the best way :)
readicant 3 years ago
yea.. hey dude, can u message me cause i dont have any trouble with audio delay/sync but the videos lag themselves, if u wanna see what i mean, check the Aviansies Loot video i made. Help me out?

so this camtasia is like hypercam?
AnotherGamer21 3 years ago
Camtasia is quite a bit more powerful than hypercam, and includes many more features.
But unlink hypercam, Camtasia is not free.
Find more about camtasia at the techsmith web site.

can u help me with the lag while recording!?
joobn00b 3 years ago
If you are using a slow computer or an analog microphone you might get audio video sync problems when recording.
For best results, use a USB headset for the microphone input.
guerillabill 3 years ago
I'm having trouble with the audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION. Can someone please help me with this?
Also how can I make LONG recordings (1 to 2 hours) without having a HUGE file size? For example, I wanna let Camtasia start recording a video I'm streaming and I wanna leave my house and come back and press STOP. How can I do this w/o having a HUGEEEEE file size AND have audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION?
I'm not gonna upload the videos anywhere so the quality doesn't need to be superb.
Thanks.
ToobYew 3 years ago
Long videos will often have audio sync problems when played back on a computer, regardless of how they were created or in what format they were stored.
For best results with Camtasia, record in short segments and use Camtasia theatre to build a menu tying the segments together.
In Camtasia recorder, there is a pause button that will pause your recording for as long as you like. To resume recording, click the resume button.
guerillabill 3 years ago
What do you mean, "Long videos will often have audio sync problems when played back on a computer, regardless of how they were created or in what format they were stored."??
Then where CAN the videos be played back without having the synchronization issue? Then what's the purpose of camtasia?
