  • The mini(shit box) just drove into the wall and I agree with the other poster he should be banned for life

  • The guy in the mini should be banned for life. What a retard

  • i was there on the day and my dad was racing in that race.

  • This may be an ignorant comment but that really looks like an unsafe design of the track, could have been far worse.

  • mini deserved to crash but not that bad looked sore. but mini deffo fault.

  • This was a handicap race and the Mini and the Porsche were off the back of the grid, so were the fastest in the field. You'll note that the Mini moved over to pass the Black Porsche but just didn't realise the Porsche was almost alongside.

Its tough on a new track, with a pit entry that was designed for the track going anticlockwise, and coping with overtaking slower vehicles.

Deemed a racing incident berween two nice guys and both with vast experience. Definitely not a blocking move.

  • what a dick, the mini should havbe given some racing room to the porsche.

  • The mini moved over to block him ,i guess the porsche could have lifted his foot a bit.

  • I know that Bryce ( driver of porsche ) phd Bruce to make sure he was ok and they had a good chat about racing, That is motorsport and we are all so happy they are both ok. Only sad thing is they both have to start again with rebuilding there hobbies/cars again. I wish both drivers a safe and awesome racing for the future. All the best

  • Good to hear, I know Bruce to be a good racer and one of the decent guys in the pits on race weekends. he's very popular with most of the guys in the Mini racing scene.

  • I was there, and I know Bruce very well, and thanks for all those who asked how he was (not) he's fine and has said , on the day, that he moved over and excepts fault. How ever this is racing. Plus uskiwis if you had been there you would have seen the Mini overhauled the Porsche and is or was the quicker car. As has been stated in the drivers briefing the clerk of course stated the rules governing this corner due to the close nature of the pit entry. The Porsche was clearly well inside the

  • Line and Bruce could have reasonably not expected a car to be coming up that side of him. we also have to remember that this was the first full on meeting at a new track and as such there was considerable 'confusion' with most drivers.

All this not with standing Bruce put his hand up to his error, and is fine and has already purchased a new car to replace the wrecked one. (sorry uskiwi wrong credit should have been NZdrift who should maybe stick to drifting where overtaking is'nt involved LOL)

  • Its never fun watching your mates get involved in a big crash. Been there & done it so I know how much it hurts & costs. I take the view that if you can't afford the consequences then you can't afford to compete & while I wouldn't wish it on anyone I posted the video to start a debate. All views appreciated.

  • True, I only run my car in low level intermarque sprints as whilst I enjoy the racing/speed I'm happy at this level as my car is irreplaceable. So it annoyed the c**p out of me when despite the guidelines/rules of the series I had 2 idiots nearly drive me of the track last Sunday whilst engaging in their own private battle

  • I owned the Porsche up until only about 4 weeks before this. I know the driver of the Porsche too. The comment re blocking was once true but has not been the current rule for two years...Once a car is alongside (no B pillar rule etc) they have to be given room. Additionally I was at the driver briefing and the line the mini chose to take was reinforced several times at the driver briefing as one that the organisers would not accept unless avoiding a crash.

  • but in a passing maneuver its is the responsibility of both drivers to avoid contact i don't thing the mini driver tried to avoid contact

  • Ahh no...

Have you heard of blocking? In NZ motorsport you are allowed to change your line once to block someone which the mini did.

The person overtaking has the responsibility to find a way around - he should have got out of it when the door was closed by the mini.

Result - mini hit in the rear side/corner and wrecked :(

  • The Porsche was right alongside by the time the Mini began his "blocking" manouvre. I think that by the time the Porsche driver realised the Mini was going to force him right onto the grass it was too late to brake & the result would've been the same. My guess is that the Mini didn't see the Porsche otherwise he wouldn't have driven him off the track.

  • @meeeeermark Blocking is fine, except when a car is right beside you, moving over to force it off the track is not "blocking", you have already lost your line to a better car. Mini's fault!

  • absolutely 100 % mini drivers fault, you cant run wide and then play stockcars to get you`re place back! or thats what happens!

  • i agree, minis fault, the other guy was clearly faster, and already up the inside.
