Like most powerful people, Henry probably made a lot of decisions he lived to regret, especially because he couldn't put Anne's head back on once it was cut off. How do Kings or powerful people find redemption for their actions once they realise the enormity of what they have done? I would think that they would have some kind of fearful expectation of what awaits them after death. Don't we all?

Quite true, Anne hardly mourned the death of Anne. In fact, of the four wives he outlived, he mourned her the least. He was certainly devastated by the death of Jane Seymour (though he quickly recovered from that), expressed at least nominal regret over Catherine of Aragon, and actually cried (more for himself) over Catherine Howard, though after he found out about her adultery and not after her death.

@valericool Those were the rumors that were spread around by people at court. The evidence against her was actually minimal(quiet frankly because they were lies). The people who convicted her of being guilty feared for their own lives, and needed to obey the king if not they would be subjected to torture or execution. The account that your history teacher gave is from the other Boleyn Girl which is historical fiction. The court documents of Anne's trail are online.

@valericool No, he really couldn't have. Henry was in a hurry to be remarried to Jane Seymour. The divorce proceedings with his first wife Katherine of Aragon were extremely long and drawn out. He had to completely reform the church, and the annulment took years. To top it off, many saw his marriage to Anne as false because of the disagreements between the king and the church. He wanted to make sure that this time around his marriage would be considered valid by having Anne executed.

That was his reation when Thomas More was beheaded, not Anne. Watch for first season. Towards the end, King Henry stated how he regrets having Thomas More beheaded. When Anne was beheaded, he was having dinner with Jane Seymore, I believe on the same day as Anne was beheaded.
