@valgorlin I teach xingyi to my high school students for afterschool clubs. You can become proficcient in xingyi in a relatively short period of time. It doesn't take 20 years. Some of the old masters weren't very forthcoming in divulging useful information to their students and sadly that accounted for some misunderstanding in thenature and application if these internal arts.
I study Shuri-Ryu Tong gee Hsing Master of Hsing I is in our linage, He Fought My Teachers Teacher. this is the way we fight,,,with added dimensions. It is a Floating Dragon Style, With hands as Fast as Wing Chun..Chi is used extensively. It is called The Intellectual Fist in our system. Very Dangerous.
@Obiwan198 not exactly. but formally yes. it is different in rules quality -- not a hard list of possible violations, but a general rule -- dont make hurt your opponent, what mean full control and no agression + all technique as you want. something like this.
and often players are working internal taichi way, but it isnt neccessary for making sanshou.
I appears to be a demo of two Xing Yi practitioners in a somewhat freestyle demonstration; not choreographed but not full-fledge striking. I like it because it looks practical. I mean they can't go all out without someone really getting hurt. This is a good representation of how Xing Yi is used...
Good demonstration. Just consider that the they are not trying to hurt each other and so by definition this not a real hsing-i fight, only a demonstration. In order for it to be a real fight, they would need to apply a relentless, attacking Yi which for obvious reasons they could not.
@cioccolatosexy your right actually. i didn't really think of it that way. but that is the spirit of xing yi, and you can't really judge it in a sparing match.
goddamn, that looks like it hurts.

This is a demo. How could it be free style when the other one seems to be instructed to defend his deceptive indirect attacks?

@nandansho Interesting, I always thought Hsing Yi chuan might have contributed to Kara-te. There are many similarities.

Isn't sanshou just a Wushu match incluiding all forms but adding rules?

doesn't look really choreographed but it's more like a demo than a freestyle sparring

So is the demonstration really unplanned? This wasn't choreographed or anything? If so, this is amazing!
My only complaint is that the camera wasn't in closer so we could see some of those combinations and in-fighting techniques more clearly.
But I'm satisfied enough. Why aren't their more videos like this?

Because few practitioners really know what they are doing

Awesome fight. This is how real Kung fu is applied. And it DOES look beautiful. If they were to really fight, then it would look damn brutal too.
Thanks for the Video.
