It is pretty funny that I found this video because you bought it from my Uncle. I just happen to be uploading some old videos of us doing aerobatics in it and searched Acrosport. I hope your enjoying it as I miss it.
@outflying100 Yes, we like it very much, not sure which one was your uncle but both were good guys. It runs great, no major problems, we have "tweaked" it a little here and there and recently added a cockpit heater. Maybe I'll even learn to fly it as well as they did but I doubt it. Almost bought an Eagle but I'm glad I ended up with the Acrosport, it's the perfect plane for me!
That's awesome...I'm looking to buy a taildragger and wanted to know how it compares to Decathlon, Skybolt, Starduster or Vans RV-3 ??? Does it handle like a Husky or Citabria on T/O n' Lnd or is there a lot of "happy feet" going on in those phases of flight? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and great looking biplane
@FLY172M We bought the Acrosport right after going to see it, it's a great plane for me, my acro interest is just for fun and this one will fly better than me for several years to come. I started out looking for a Decathlon since I had some time in one, but the Acrosport does aileron rolls much better than a Decathlon, and is also much cheaper to buy and maintain since it's an experimental. No more "certified" aircraft for me!!
@lappeapatch That's great. I have a friend trying selling his Acrosport 2. I have some videos of it on my page. I love biplanes, I have a AcroDuster Too, with a 320 HP lycoming, Yak 55, and a 172. I'v flown his acro, I was surprised to see how aerobatic that little thing really was.
Haven't been flying this winter even though I installed a heater last fall, just too busy, but that is soon to change. It does aerobatics better than a Decathon, the plane I trained in, faster roll rate and easier inverted flight. I have not tried one yet but the previous owner told me it does not snap roll very well, though I'm not interested in them anyway, they are known to be kind of rough on any aircraft.
Thank you. It was made at the owners farm in Tennessee between Nashville and Memphis when they were showing us the aircraft, we liked it and the owners so we bought it.
