@danatemn She really loved Tristan, and the beauty of the wilderness, the twilight and mist. It's called retrospective irony when you look back at something and realise the tru significance behind it, like he was singing the song and then he died in the war, so she never belonged to him.

I hope I'm right, it's a while since i saw the movie! and by the way if you're replying to this post reply to CRAZY4MUSIC11 cos it's actually me, just didn't realise what Id I was using ;-)

@danatemn I think that is a really good interpretation of what that song meant and why they put it in that spot in the film! I was thinking the same thing, that the maiden, or, the girl that the guy is in love with, really belonged to tristan, the rough stallion. Kind of sad for the guy that dies in the war : /
