  • Good review

  • Why do a half ass review and not have the thing mounted correctly. Come on dude.

  • where are the vortex scopes made?

  • @auradud3 China...

  • @jutbhs200 so sad, day by day it becomes harder and harder to find anything not made in china, good vid anyway

  • I see people loved ragging you on the flip up cover. Everyone makes mistakes, keep on keep'n on. You have some nice informative vids.

  • Does it co witness any? will I be able to with a bushnell trs-25? Also what you think of the bushnell?

  • Nice review, thanks. I just bought one of these and I look forward to using it.

On a side note, if you ever decide to attempt to remove your wedding ring from your finger, make a Youtube video documenting your attempt;)

  • Great review, thanks

  • impressed with your review. i was looking at that Midwest Industries package deal with this sight and didn't even occur to me that i also have the scope rail on the side of my Saiga 5.45 which also adds versatility to mounting. thanks!

  • Got it,,.set it up in minutes,,. Excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't need SWAT or military application.

  • dude you had the lens cap on, so yeah the field of view would be fucked up.

  • @MrAppleseed88 lol...no without the lens cap the fov isn't that great.

  • @millerusaf It would had been nice to see...

  • I love my UTG quick detach side rail and red dot. I dont use the side rail on it. It is always getting caught on my shirt/gear I am thinking about cutting grinding it off. Do you think that will compromise the integrity of that metal?

  • That was an excellent review. Hopefully if my finances will allow it, I can purchase one of these sights.

  • What mount is that? high or low?

  • @nhfoos low

  • I just threw one of these on one of my AR-15s. How is yours holding up? You got a lot of rounds down range with yours? Excellent review by the way. You covered every question I would have had.

  • My AK destroys all scopes and sights i have ever put on my AK

  • @superzapper

That is why you buy a '74. Reliability of an AK, kill factor of an M16, along with almost no recoil.

  • @superzapper stop spending money on crap haha. Get a real eotech or aimpoint. bsa/barska/ncstar/utg-leapers you get what you pay for. Some of them are ok I got my dad a BSA red dot to try on his AR and it has withstood 400+ rounds but I would say its the exception not the rule. I got a primary arms aimpoint clone I sighted in 500rnds ago and still holds zero. 90 bucks plus shipping.

  • @awsomeshot I have a $450 scope on my rifle . wtf are you talking about .What i`m saying is if you don`t buy a good scope you might as well buy a super cheap one because all those $80.00 and $150.00 scopes are as crap as the $40.00 ones.

  • @superzapper I have never tried and eotech clone all the ones I have seen have had horrible reviews. Primary Arms makes some good quality aimpoint clones. I am glad I got mine and I dont plan on dropping 400+ on a non magnified optic. My sight has held zero is durable and has a clear retical.

  • Say you leave it on the green dot and a certain brightness level and turn it off. Will it retain that when you turn it back on, or just reset to a default setting?

  • @EscpdFrmPsykward I got the StrikeFire a few months ago and yes it retains dot color and brightness setting after turning it off and on. And over all I'm quite happy with it.

  • @dv8mls13 Great. Thanks for the reply.

  • Well you just sold me one. Ordering now.

  • do you think this optic would perform well on a ruger 10/22? sighted in for around 100 yards?

  • Can you find a wing nut that fits the screw vs. that hex nut?

  • See I wonder for a 20" upper do you go long range scope? Vortex, or become proficient with iron sights?

  • Does this ship with the mounting ring?

  • @jdavis234 Yes

  • last time i checked magnification is not X-ray, it prolly would have helped you find your FOV if you flipped up the cover on the front of the optic. Just FYI

  • @nowthisis2stupid ...yeah...I know......lol. All I was doing was just showing how to install the magnifier in a quick fashion.

  • @millerusaf Quick indeed... overall rating on this optic scale of 1 - 10?

  • I saw in your other video on MI hand guard you were looking into one of these...I was going to suggest the Burris XTS-135 which I have on my M-15...it was tested on my AR-10, but I guess you are set up now...Nice set up..

    E1

  • Thank you for your review. It helped me make up my mind. Could you please tell me what flashlight mount you're using on the first rifle?

  • You couldn't find the FOV with the 2x magnifier because you had the front flip-up down when you installed it.

  • @jdessell Nope...I've had it installed and I played with it prior to this video. The FOV is small with the magnifier.

  • @millerusaf I have an Eotech on one of my carbines and an Aimpoint on the other. As you know, they make magnifiers for both of them but I couldn't bring myself to shell out the kind of money they are asking for them.. $400 - $600 for a 2 or 3X magnifying piece of glass? Come on ! I like my EO and my Aimpoint. If I had to choose I'd say the Aimpoint is a little more precise and probably a little more rugged but they are both way overpriced (like everything in the gun world) in my opinion.

  • @jdessell try TMS Tactical 3x Magnifier Scope with Quick Flip Mount from amazon. its only $139.00. i have on ordered, and ill let ya know if its any good.

  • @jdessell lol

  • If you haven't shot with it then this review is worthless.

  • My only gripe is that if you leave it in your bag, the battery will go dead in a couple months. I don't know if it's turning on by itself or if it just drains the battery.

  • Thanks for the review.

I must say those, the coolness of the AK is ruined with an optic!

  • i have one on my norinco Ar15 and love it, routinely beat guts with aimpoints, eotechs, Elcan, nightforces etc. all optics costing many times more then the 200$ i paid for it

  • Is that the IO inc? I'm looking at getting one, but I'm not sure what accessories will fit. Also how's that rifle holding if this ones not the IO?

  • like you said...looks like an aimpoint knockoff but for a fraction of the price. personally for my handguns i'm stuck on ultradot red dots-about the same price as the vortex offerings. got an ultradot30 on my 500mag and a matchdot on my ruger mk3 22/45. the ultradots also have a lifetime warranty like the vortex offerings-an absolute must in my opinion. the only 'rifle' i have that would warrant a red dot is my sbr ar-15(7" ar makes a great house cleaning weapon) which is sporting an eotech.

  • Do you think that would hold up on my shotgun ?

  • @tacticoolness It'll hold up to your shotgun.

  • Have you gotten a chance to shoot with it?

  • @realplatinum No, I had to send it back to Vortex. I only recieved it as a pro review sample.

  • @millerusaf not sure why you would recommend a product that you have never actually used. i guess $ is worth more than reputation.

  • @b00gym4n I did use it a little bit and in the short time I had it, it worked just fine. There are also tons of other accounts of hard use on this product and it didn't have any issues.

  • @millerusaf Gotcha. I wonder why Aimpoints are twice as much.

  • I'm currently running this optic on my AR with the high mount. It offers a perfect co-witness. After about 8 months of use I have only good things to say about it. With quality this good, why pay $450 for an Aimpoint when you can pay $150 for the Vortex. My only feedback to Vortex would be to rethink the power button. Mine has a tendency to click on with even the slightest pressure on the button. Also, make the lens caps more ridgid. The relatively soft plastic will warp. 5*****

  • Thanks for covering the eye relief. I'm wondering what to run on a scout squad m1a. Someone took the liberty of mounting a rail above the action on my rifle, but it's a bit high for good check weld viewing for myself, and I have a large/thick head so, that's not been an optimum option for me. I would imagine the featured item here would make a good solution for me, being I run it on the stock forward mounted rail.

  • 10/4.....yeah,it's taken care of...just letting the truth be told

  • it would run fine on the ultimak tube.

  • Very cool!!

  • I was so impressed with the Vortex and the general consensus about the Strikefire,

that I went all the way to have one imported here in Italy.

I have the High Mount, and it totally cowitnesses my iron sights.

It's a great optic- and not only because of its price tag. it's really great.

Vortex filled the gap between the expensive mil-spec EOTechs, Aimpoints and the cheapest chinese knock-offs like NcStar and shit, for those serious enough to look around for alternatives.

  • I always hated mounting optics on my AK's gas tube due to lots of heat that flowed through there. I burned up a cheap red dot once. I like that UTG throw lever mount you have. Simple clean effective and it stays cooler.

  • great video. inexpensive options that work, we need more videos of that. thanks.

  • wow,i had better luck with the Tasco red dots than the NCStars, i still got my Tasco on my 10/22, i shit can'd my NCStar

  • Thats just a shitty way to mount that. It should have slide rail mounts(like you mount a light/laser under a pistol) Then you could just slide off and on and Even though they say it held zero with magnum fire, I don't think it would be very rugged or durable..........JMHO................

Kinda rediculous to mount an optic over a foot away from your eye...I've seen better mounts on an air rifle...

  • @jdhp45toy its odviolus your opinion, lots of people mount AK optics on the gas tube first and the russia side mount second. The side mount can mount the optic to high and interfer with servicing the weapon. The gas tube sloves both these problems and lets you co-witness sights through the optic (depending on the model of optic)

  • @DaytonaRoadster The way srgt Miller has configureated, doesn't in anyway solve the using of reg sights,as he stated, furthermore in this vid there is no side mount and nothing you just refered to in your statement has anything really to do with what I was commenting. However I would just op for the side mount and well rain myself and make perfectly good use with, just as the next(non-dumbass) could easily do.

  • @jdhp45toy refering to the "side mount" I correct myself. Meant to say, there is really no way side mount can get in the way of controls or proper functioning of the ak platform

  • @jdhp45toy Go to 11:45 and you'll see how it works with a side mount. I went ahead and displayed both mounting options so everyone can see how it looks mounted either way.

  • @millerusaf I seen it 1st time,just worded wrong at 1st,but fixed it

  • @jdhp45toy lol didnt watch the whole vid did you? Why dont you watch the whole thing before you comment. Also i said that with OTHER optics you can co-witness the sights...learn2readingcomprehension

  • @DaytonaRoadster If you would take the time to further read b4 commenting, you would see where I immediately fixed what I misstyped........lol, Let's see here, how'd you put it? "learn2readingcomprehension"...who really is the illiterate one here????

  • @jdhp45toy o i think you've pretty much covered that

  • @DaytonaRoadster how about you kiss my white USA ass!! Go back to fish aquirrriums and for sum1 that calls us(the real 2nd ammedment beleavers and terrorist haters) you sure are a piece of shit calling all of us MORONS for what we think and belive about 9/11. From what you say and beleave in your channel page, about me: YOUR JUST AS BAD,IF NOT WORSE,THAN THE PIECES OF SHIT THAT FUCKED US ON THAT DAY. YOU AND PPL LIKE YOU WILL GET WHAT'S COMIN TO YOU.

  • @jdhp45toy Take to PMs, and play nice here. This is a review video focusing on an optic, not on political views.

  • @DaytonaRoadster Play nice. This video is just about an optic review.

  • @millerusaf o i think i'm being pretty nice, lol

  • @millerusaf seriously... next time you do a 16 minute video video... i strongly suggest you film yourself and have some ''motion'' instead of filming a steady gun. i dont know if you know what i mean but like it would be very less boring if you like point stuff while you wear it and sutff. anyway i hope you understand what i mean and that my constructive critic will do a difference =D

  • @LedKenji666 I thought about that, but you wouldn't be able to see the features of the optic as well, which would defeat the purpose of the video.

  • @jdhp45toy It doens't matter so much with an optic that has an unlimited eye relief. The fov isn't an issue even with the optic so far away.

  • @millerusaf Don't you think it could get to hot? And under rapid fire, being mounted all the way on gas block, would be hard to keep where you can see well enough to be used the way in it's intended???

  • @jdhp45toy Over extended use, it would get really hot, but I have no clear cut information on whether the heat would ruin the optic or not.

I have no problems using the red dot as intended (with both eyes open) with the optic mounted in the forward position.

  • @millerusaf If works for you,thats great...I just can't get used to it,that's all.

  • @millerusaf it'll be fine. The tube is filled with nitrogen, which the heat wont effect. Also it wont get nearly hot enough to effect the electronics of the red dot itself. The only possible effect would be the heat warping the mount, and if your fireing that much you've already ruined your barrel anyway..so the red dot is the least of your problems. When i worked with triple canopy when had guys running AK clones in the sand box at 104+ degrees under heavy fire, and they worked just fine

  • @DaytonaRoadster Thanks. That's kinda what I figured. It does take alot to get an AK super red hot (AR-15s heat up faster).

  • @millerusaf ya, thats why i got a heavy barrel on my LWRC, takes it forever to get really hot. Its also going to depend on the AK too, those prissy Arensal AKs are going to heat up quick and melt their handguards, a yugo-Bulgi-Romanian AK wont, the loser tolerances help reduce friction and heat. The only problem i can forsee is a polymor mount for your optic..but i'm pretty sure everyone uses steel or aluminum, so that isnt really an issue.

  • @jdhp45toy it's a "scout" type mount.

If it works for many M1A/M14 users, will work for you.

  • @TheHiddenPart thats may be, but thats an ak,and thats what im referring to

  • Even though the cover was not flipped up on the front when looking through the magnifier I can see the field of view is restricted. Nice review, you got me rethinking about buying a Aimpoint. The Vortex looks good to me.

  • I have been using utg for my air rifle and shotgun and they seem pretty cool but this one looks nice for my 22 air rifle but I wonder if it will work. I seem to have issues with my elevations and being to high. Even the stupid one that came with it ends up being 10 inchs to high at 60ft.

  • How long is the battery life on this optic and what type of battery does it use? Thanks!

  • I had one of these. The lens covers leave little to be desired, and the mount broke during drills. It also failed to operate with new batteries. This is great for a plinker or a fun gun, but not for hard use.

  • does that rail clamp right onto the barrel? seems like you have a lot of weight out there clamped to the barrel. too many accessories for an AK, imo, but i like a clean fore end. also, the objective seems too small to be mounted 14 inches forward of your face...esp for the price. you can get a wide objective aimpoint from cheaperthandirt for 40 bucks, but i still wouldnt put it on an ak.

  • do you know a cheap light for a pistol but relatively good one ?

  • Seems decent

  • Thanks for changing the intro! WAY better!!!!!! Keep up the great reviews.

  • the green dot looks sick

  • Great vid

  • I bought a cheap scope one time and it wouldn't hold zero. I snapped it in half and bought a Leupold.

  • @semiautoriflelover This one will hold zero. It's been drop tested, and tested to hold up to the repeated recoil of a 375 H&H Mag rifle.

  • @millerusaf I like it when they can hold up to the abuse. Mine was some kind of cheap Russian one.

  • @millerusaf By you or the company?

  • @Mrcaffinebean By the company. If I was able, I'd love to put that to my personal test (I don't own a 375 H&H...lol)

  • Thanks for the review and detailed information. We appreciate your contributions and thanks for posting and sharing.
