  • Thats how you keep overhead low. secretary /mechanic/welder /bullshiter extrodinar at your service

  • Nice fuckin garage man!!!

  • Come on Cletus...we gots it runnin.

  • Was waiting for engine to chew you up

  • Never start a gm..

  • last words of any true redneck ... "WATCH THIS!"

  • I was expecting a run away motor or a fire! I have run many engine like this in the past.Usually engines that have been removed from scrapped vehicles to see what they ran like before going to all the trouble of fitting it and finding it's knackered!

  • good man!

  • LOL, I thought you were going to open it up and it was going to turn over.

  • "Never Do This"?.... I was ready for some type of fail, like the engine torquing over, or the flywheel grinding the ground like a cut off wheel, but nothing! Sounded good though.

  • I smell METH in the background…

  • Just wondered if that guy had his garage doors open, whilst running that engine....

    I hope so......

  • Why not ?

  • i expected of failing , anyone else?

  • I don't get it.

  • Comment removed

  • @spicer308 Its actually called a Flexplate with an Automatic and its a Flywheel if you've got a Manual Transmission. But yes, your right, they'll rev quick cause they don't weigh anything hardly. But be careful when you do that, you can easily over rev them and you can shatter a Flexplate easily without anything hooked to it.

  • why never do this???? its cool^^

  • He died?

  • Wow! I'm loving the sound of the engine.... but next time make sure you don't run the engine like that. If that "cherry picker" were to drop, that engine would be in your lap faster than the engine started. Just a bit of advise.

  • Never do what? Start a engine...?

  • i have to agree the title fits...flywheel plus floor....lol at the title...cool vid...

never do this ....do as i say not as i rev..hahah

  • dont hate those with skill, bet half you can't even change your oil

  • "Yeah!" exclaimed Cletus, "We dun got her runnin! Now whur have I goed and put the car!"

  • 87 own a prius

  • And then the flywheel hits the floor and the engine and everything attached or holding on to it lands in the next room. I would quite literally piss myself from laughter

  • I want your shop...

  • @montey1017 Yes, i am so glad the previous owner did a nice job of carpeting the dirt.

  • @740Turbogreasel makes it a bunch easier than digging though the dirt (or in my case gravel)for that little bolt

  • yeah spin the engine n cut hes head of it shoulbe a better video than this!

  • @saulanibal1 That or when it back fires and burns his face off.

  • demmit! i just closed my eye and nothin happen!~

  • thats sweet! now,,,,, put it on a bar stool. HA! would be funny as hell.

  • Dont know why you would not do this have done it many of times. your not gonna remount an engine to see if you have solved all the problems

  • Clean ur garage man. Never do anything should b ur title.

  • that is fucking retarded

  • Yes, indeed

  • redneck sybian

  • Better title: "Redneck engine start"

  • i want my view back

  • why not

  • @ellerymont If it's not clear to you when watching the video, then you are retarded. Too retarded in fact to ever build, repair, or otherwise work on an engine anyway, much less on the floor of a garage with a flywheel openly spinning. So don't worry about it, because you will never be in this situation. Now go back to watching Stuart Smalley and Teletubbies.

  • @blue46gt whoa settle down tough guy. and your the allstar mechanic? dont kid yourself there hollywood. you could be the worst mechanic alive, so dont act tough. just chill the fuck out.

  • @jollyrogger51 U MAD

  • @blue46gt hahaha my point proven right there. btw nice job on the clever replying comment buds.

  • @blue46gt stop trolling

  • @Bamchucknorris i am certainly not trolling, good sir.

  • My dad did it with a 428 no manifolds and his little brother sitting on the air filter

  • ????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • the flywheel may flex and crack without you knowing it and then with your mug over it...... oh it's cool to hear a motor respond like that. a manual flywheel is only marginally safer. WHY do you think they make and sell blowproof bell housings?

  • make it safer, run it without flywheel ;)

  • @Roelzter how ya gonna start it????

  • @boaterbil with a rope around the crankshaft..

  • I did that with my first 355 Chevy that I built, but I had it on an assembly stand with a radiator, all accessories and headers hooked up. It was an incredibly cool feeling to stand there with my arm across the top of the engine blipping the throttle and feeling the HP twisting against me. Never do this? You gotta do this!

  • I didn't see anything wrong in the video.

  • WOW... That's crazy

    CRAZY GOOD!

  • Ho why "never do this"?

  • ???

  • Fuck it....start it on the ground.....lol

  • put it in a motorcycle frame

  • Good title choice. I bet it gets more views than say "GM engine start"

  • "GM Engine Start" .... now thats an oxymoron

  • LOL GM Isn't that "Government Motors" now?

  • holy shitballs! talk about junkyard dogs, i thought it was a homeless guy huffing gas until he started it using what looked like the screwdriver on the solenoid trick. stil a bum move

  • The scrag end of the auto business. Untrained fools with worn out junk in a mess of a 'workshop'. One nice blip of the trottle the thing flips over and the flywheel saws the goon in half.

  • @1RadNomad

How do you think they own a business? Maybe it is just some old redneck in his shop? Fuck off, preacher.

  • dont look much more dangerous then a 350 on a motorcycle and it if did get crazy probly would unhook power wire from batter and kill itself

  • It's impossible to tell if it has accessories on it, but it's quite possible for it to continue to run after removing the power wire if it has an alternator. Race motors require a diode for just this reason. You would need to cut power to the ignition coil.

  • oooooooh, ok. better leave it to the ratty arse redneck professionals. lame

  • just bc u said not to im going to hahaha

  • Even a small car engine has more than enough torque to tear a limb off, running one that isn't secured is dangerous, and the bigger, heavier, noisier, rougher and more powerful it is the more dangerous it is.

  • reneck engine stand

  • why i would never do it?????

  • @yorchreloaded

that's because they don't want you to have as much fun as they are having.

  • An should never be started when not securely mounted to something. That V8 was only loosely chained and could have easily gotten out or control and hurt someone. That's why they tell you never to do this.

  • rednecks..

  • hä?? why never do this??? i have no idea

  • Cos its dangeous as fuck lol!

  • haha thats safe. you should attach a blender to it. make some killer drinks

  • fukn wrenchers there good to have around

  • well nothing actually happened and you just watched the video and he looks pretty fine to me so stop being pessimistic. and stop ya bitching....... and i wanna see this rat and fly wheel video!!!

  • morons

  • its safe to do it fuck in hell i did it my self

  • i dont get it

  • if that flywheel hit the floor and spun the engine around and pulled him into the teeth on it for the starter i would say ha ha

i saw a guy with a ford 400 with tablesaw blades welded to the fucker he threw a rat into it and there was nothing left

  • Pretty hard for the flywheel to hit the floor when the engine is still connected to the hoist, genius...

  • well, what if the hoist gave and the wheel hits the floor. too bad you dont realize common sense

  • well put nothing happened but it is very unsafe the torque from the engine could've caused the chain to slip its just not a good idea

  • thats basically what i said.

  • what if i walked out my door today and got hit by a car?? wouldnt be where we are if we didnt take risks. so yeah, shut up

  • oh so the block had nothing to with it? and why when he reved it didnt the engine turn up like all the ones rebuilt do?

  • I think the engine is still hangine from the hoist too.. so it really could not go anwhere.

  • why not?

  • I was waiting for the fly wheel hit the floor and spin the engine around. Maybe next time.

  • No risk of the whell move the motor because the exhaust-pipes hold it in upright position,

that's true il will be funny if the motor ran out of the garage and the man ran after to stop it !!! lol

  • same here!

  • hahaha me too XD

  • @flyin400 That's about what I was thinking. I figured that flywheel would do some serious damage to his knee when it hit.

  • it looks like liquid hot magma is pouring out of that tube

  • magma is red, dumbass...

  • and by definition it's subterranean, so that doesn't really make sense either way, both of you dumbasses.

  • hey here's an idea: go fuck yourself

  • lol. ^^

Way to get angry over someone doing exactly what you did, but correctly. <3

  • Looks like my garage, i clean it one day then i get going on 10 different projects and then i cant move...

In my case bigger garage bigger mess lol.

  • Hello , i beat you , because a few years ago i've cleaned my Renault 25 double body-carburettor in my new rented flat , but my flat renter never saw me doing that !!!!!!!!!!!!! I,ve taken a lot of care to not pouring the flat too! Now i brougth a home with a wokshop to do that ! have good pleasure in mechanics.

  • i have doe that before with my dad 1968 442 cutlass motor

  • drag cars dont need cooling cause they burn methanol that need much less cooling ..

  • not all drag cars run methanol.

  • "never do this" i thought the flexplate was going to grind concrete or something. heheheh

  • haha me too :P

but i see no actual problem in the video ..

  • I think a lot of us did... Or a rod to fly out... something.

  • ya i was ready for a flying rod

  • Nah cooling is not a problem for this sort of thing, heaps of drag cars use no cooling (they run dry blocks), and with staging and the actual drag it self they run for up to 60 seconds, some of it under full load.

  • I wouldn't say never do this, but... cooling is a definite factor in running an engine like this, also without weight {eg; flywheel or torque converter} on the end of the crank shaft there is a balance issue to be sure.

  • why never do this??

  • Because your mother told you not to when you were little.

Or at least she should have.

  • i like reading coments from the experts..u start ur car in neutral dont ya..where is the load there dumbass..wow maybe we shouldnt test run engines on dyno,s anymore either huh

  • Actually engine dynos test based on a load. Wheel dynos (the ones that you see people putting their cars on on youtube) measure based on a very slight load

  • dont see why it would hurt it....didnt run it long

  • Running an engine without a load is bad for it. Just starting like this probably won't hurt it, but running and revving without a load is bad for it because the resistence of a load keeps things synchronized and without it rods and stuff can run just a tiny bit out of whack and "slap around"

  • nahhh....didnt run it very long or rev it much, now way that would hurt it in my opinion...

  • I shouldn't hurt it. Running engines without a load is just discouraged though because there is a possibility of it. And I agree running it just this long shouldn't hurt it at all, not running it is just kind of a precaution

  • it's true with 2-stroke motocross engines. but not with 4-strokes

  • why shall we never do this??! it's air cooled (at least for the little test it's enough) i think the title of that video should be changed! ;-)

  • Chevy rules!!! When i finish my 350 build i'm gonna test it like this, it's a must do!

  • why should i never do this ?

  • no cooling

  • makes sense

  • and no load.

  • A real L.R.E. ?!?

  • .....ive done that before :-P

  • Is that a garage ? It's a mess...

  • never do what? About the only thing I would say is don't hold body parts over the carb when you're revving motors that have been sitting a long time, they can really backfire. I just about blew the windows out of my garage a few times.

  • I do that all the time, just watch your sleeves ;)

  • whats the problem?

  • Hey mate..your car is really badly rusted out .

  • I know, I will never do that, tooo boring.

  • LOL cool a turbobricker

  • can you do this with newer motors that have sensors and injectiors n crap

  • Why the hell not? Wouldn't you want to know if the engine runs BEFORE to put it in your car? I did the same thing in 1998 with a used 1957 BMW V-8, needed to know if it ran before the install.

  • why shouldn´t i do this?

  • is it 1 of these american engine shite u need a scania V8 marine mate

  • hey dude, if you ask me it depends on the car you have!! scania v8 are very powerfull but no racing engines! don´t put a scania v8 into a chevy!! i´m from germany and we have lots of idiots here, one guy put a mitsubishi 6r motor into a dodge charger!? holy shit, this is against the physical laws!!xD

  • haha fair doos mate lmao wat u really need is a super marine spitfire merlin V12 in a car haha 2000hp that wuld be power

  • Yes. Rod Hadfield from Australia has a Merlin in a 55 Chevy. Check it out on Youtube.

  • Not an LT1. These engines are some of the best engines ever designed. The simplicity and power capability are second to none

  • Never fart if you think you need to shit.

  • words of wisdome shawnstam

  • damn straight

  • does it have VTEC?

  • You're kidding

  • You're kidding.....thats kinda like asking if you're honda has torque

  • no... it's obvsiously one of those new nopi vtec rotary diesels bro! duh! loser! Go Rice!

  • Haha, good one, rice is for eating btw

  • haha..... "rice is for eating". I'll remember that one. that's pretty good. glad you got the joke.

  • I'll take that as if u are from "the other side of the ocean" and has no idea of what a real engine is? ohc? Do you know what that stands for? A japanese motorcycle has more tourqe today than your gas consuming v8... I love the sound of a good v8 but for moving your as around a inline 4 will do the job.. (I know my spelling is like sh*t but english is my second language..)

  • HA! Your joking.

A Suzuki Hayabusa Makes 102.3 lb·ft (139 N·m) of torque, while a typical 5.9L Magnum V8 makes 335 lb·ft (454 N·m) of torque. No where near a busa. I'm not banging on 4 bangers.. I like Busas.. and I like Hemi's.. but they dont make the same torque and power a v8 makes. Only if they were turbocharged.. then maybe.

  • never do - what??
