  • Ha I had one of these and I got it with Rumors for Christmas and I took it with me everywhere and played it over and over!

  • Just bought one of these, EXACTLY like yours, today for $4.99. Works great...

  • In 1977 my school bus driver used to constantly play "Rumors" on one of these when it came out; I thought it was the worst piece of crap ever made. It was only after they started playing the same songs on the radio that I realized it was a great album. You could never judge music fairly after only hearing it on 8-track and/or just about any 70s portable device from Japan.

  • I have one of these, same color. It won't change tracks automatically though for some reason..

  • @cubey Of course! It's not supposed to change automatically... these puppies were manual.

  • @skulhed Really? That's the first 8 track player I've ever had that was manual for changing tracks. And here I thought it had something wrong with it.

  • Too funny...you would just cram the tape in the deck and it would start to play....and then quite often, in the middle of a song it would fade out, go Kaklunk! change tracks, and then fade in again where it left off! Still, I miss the 70's!

  • Just saw an old commercial. Apparently they came in yellow, blue, and red. Imagine how much these are worth in original condition in a box. I know they are collectible now. Without the batteries in them of course, which might corrode the insides. If you knew back then, you'd buy all three colors and as many as you could afford.

  • I used to have one ofthese...same color...loved it!

  • Thank freakin gawd we live in the year 2011, where you can play music off something the size of a matchbox in Dolby quality sound. I grew up in the 80's with tapes. Horrid things. Can't tell you how many tapes were either destroyed by players or by the hot sun.. In the 90's, it was the same crap. CD's that scratched incredibly easy and warped in the hot sun. Today, everything can fit on a tiny thumb drive you stick into a player. My thumb drive is credit card thin and fits easily in my wallet :D

  • I have one of the orginal panansonic dynamite 8 track player in yellow, willing to sell along with stylistics 1971 8 track and more

  • thanks for the memories. I used to have my aunts old one (same color), and had like 3 8 tracks, john denvers greatest hits, jefferson airplane even worse, and jefferson starship octopus

  • Would you recommend getting one of these? I'm looking for one with good clear sound and that one looks really cool. Also the portable aspect is nice.

  • Yeah. I would say if you really want one of these, definitely get the TNT. Getting a good sound from an 8 track is a bit futile, so might as well get one that looks cool. hehe.

  • i like how you can fit like 3000 songs in half the space an 8track takes up.

    that's gravy.

  • Yeah the 8tracks are like 50cents each @ the thrift shops. and the great thing about havin a portable is that you can check them before you buy. I had a bunch of them from HS and have even copied the more rare ones onto CD. thanx for posting this !

  • mine was blue thanx for posting this !!

  • I vaguely remember having the choice the blue and the yellow one (I was only like 4 then). Now that i fixed it i've been buying a whole bunch of 8 track trapes like it's going outta style... uhm... it did go outta style. hehe.

  • @skulhed Mine was red and I thought I was cutting edge with that portable player.

  • @skulhed These things came in red, blue, and yellow.

  • @The1970sInfatuate Yah apparently so. I'm sure if they had the red at the store back in '77/'78, i wouldve wanted it.
