Frankly your lucky the emergency response people even helped your wife; alot of them wouldn't touch a hybrid for fear of being electrocuted.

Priuses are not very safe, cheap, or enviromentally friendly. Go buy a Volvo if you want safety.

Hey Mike, glad to hear ur wife is okay;over all thats the most important thing. Now there is no arguing that the Prius is a safe vehicle, but in this type of collision ur wife would of faired better yet had she been in for example a Volvo...this because according to the IIHS the Prius scored only a MARGINAL rating in rear impact protection from the head restrains whereas the Volvo scored a top rating of GOOD, in other words had ur wife been in a Volvo there probably wouldn't of been any whiplash

its all good that your wife survived, but that didnt look to be too much of a terrible crash, ive seen far worse that people have walked away from...

that being said, the prius is a very safe car, its structural parts are extremely strong
