i miss music like this; music that made sense. When you could go out and dance and have fun, not just shake your ass and try to look as slutty/cute. When boys were dance battling instead of fighting and shooting at a club..smh MUSIC LIKE THIS NEEDS TO COME BACK!!!
Man! Seems like yesterday is an UNDERSTATEMENT! I must have purchased this cassette tape, then the CDs like 4 times, replacing them due to wear! I was just finishing up high school when this whole Guy album hit, and this brings back just so many memories!
I was just becoming a man when this joint out....had no buisness in the clubs but I there with my hightop fade..fresh slacks and shirt grooving. This was such a good time....no one was in the middle of the dancefloor texting showing off a damn cellphone. We GROOVED!
This was the joint! I will be 45 in March! Age is a state of mind, this is still a all time fav jam! My son who is 19 is digging my music! Music just aint what it used to be!
I notice that a lot of the comments on here are from people who actually lived through this era of music, but I remember dancing to this as a little squirt back in '91, and I still love it.
Interracial Culture has nothing to do with it. People in suits are in charge of today's music and nothing but crap comes out of it. You talk about interracial culture? Talk about the fusion of hip hop & r&b where it's all the same thing. It's 2011, people are talking about R&B making a comeback, how sad is that for a genre like R&B to make a comeback, shouldn't of left.
This has nothing to do with race relations, if anything blame the black artists who continue to agree to put out poor music
@ParticleSon Man the state of music is piss poor at best. I am in my 30's...read that, in my 30's complaining about the poor quality of music this day. Granted, hip hop will likely NEVER equal to the power and umph of RnB, BUT hip hop is a FAB and GREAT genre of music with much power in itself, yet those in charge of it within the last say 7-8 years have failed in creativity and excellence, UNLIKE the hip hop of the 80's and 90's God it was GLORIOUS!!! Much of hip hop today stinks!
@ParticleSon yes I agree, even with rap & hip hop dominating, RnB is so powerful & necessary that it shouldn't have ever left. To me RnB IS music, like Rock, it should never leave. It is a basic blue print of what good music is, meat to the bones. Withstanding Robin Thicke, Neyo, A Keyes, Ant Hamilton, Usher, (old) Beyonce, Mariah, Drake, many of the artists today r seriously crap. Rhianna..Can't sing, write a song, produce, play not 1 instrument! This chic can't even dance, dam!
Man, I use to pump this jam something fierce, tyring to be seen by the girls, riding down the strip in my grand prix with t-tops and spoke rims, real 80's styles, lol
To be honest i don't think i'd like it if new jack swing became mainstream, people who don't really appreciate the whole late 80's-90's groove would start jumping on the new wave claiming to love it but only because it would be popular..i wish i was born in the 70's so i could have lived through that era maynn
@loganx31580 You're right brah. I just hit 45 & it seemed like it was 2 hours ago when we were getting suited & booted, fresh cuts, smelling good, and the same for the ladies getting ready to hit the clubs. I don't care how much things have changed and always will, there will never be another 70's through 90's era. You danced until the lights came on, got after the females & vice versa. We were to clean & smooth to go to a club LOOKING for a fucking fight unless you really had to. Man i miss it.
@str8outtatexas1 I love ya like a fried bologna sammich for bringing those memories back...lol dayummm! I remember in L.A. we would get fly as fuck, have our drinks and get ready to kick it! it was cool gettin some coochie on the first night back then..lol and the frat parties..oh man!, the frat parties!! i just hit 46! i wish my nephews knew what it was like back then..STR8 CHILLIN! ya know?
GROOVE ME !!! This video take me back... 1990-1993 at the pool kickin it with all the fly honeys , half steppin, and doing the roger rabbit, this song can never get played out..
@JosephWax Come on now, that's not the problem it is black people who's killing black culture! We decide the music we want to listen to, the movies we want to watch etc. Its not a coincidence that the 90's was so afrocentric because the people back then were afrocentric, you cant say the same thing today!
@JosephWax The issue is that so many White Acts Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, and even Katy Perry are doing so many collaborations that it's hard to hear hard core Black Music. I loved this Video and this group.

@ybrews And I used to drive around with this picking up girls, taking them into a corn field with some wine coolers. You can fill in the blanks. That was 1990 and music was still good.
THIS WAS A HIT IN THE CLUB! WELL I HEARD IT WAS! LOL I WAS TOO YOUNG TO BE IN A CLUB BACK THEN! LOL THIS IS A JAM THOUGH! IM DEFINITELY A FAN! THEY MADE HITS AFTER HITS!

Let me tell all you youngsters something. This song has been out since 1988. Don't give me this GTA crap from 2 years ago. I remember 1989 playing this in my car, parked in a cornfield in Hollister, CA (yes, the one on your shirts nowadays), and having sex with a girl named Leticia while both buzzed on Cisco wine coolers. That's right, that's how us old-schoolers rolled. Sex in a mo-f*g cornfield with Guy playing...whole damn CD too. This music represents the 80s and us old schoolers were THERE!
Dig how Aaron was super cool & low-key with his moves until 3:55, then he just went all out! You couldn't tell me I wasn't the Chi-Town version of Guy with my Cazals, silk (ahem, rayon) shirt unbuttoned to my navel and my dad's gold rope chain when I stepped into Chic Rick's or Heroes!
@troynupe1 lol..we all had Guy aspirations..I was in the military then...I 'd go on vacation and let my beard grow out...had the super huge sunglasses (prescription).........
i miss music like this; music that made sense. When you could go out and dance and have fun, not just shake your ass and try to look as slutty/cute. When boys were dance battling instead of fighting and shooting at a club..smh MUSIC LIKE THIS NEEDS TO COME BACK!!!
