  • To all of you who think he was just a boozer such as kellygreen5555 this is a man who in his prime had 3 number 1 box office films playing at the same time and has since been noted as the great cinematic giant of his generation! Oliver Reed was not only a man of incredible charisma and charm but had that one thing that few actors posess - real screen presence - and in bucket loads! He was and will always be a legend of the screen despite his drinking off it! A true genius and genuine person. I

  • Fuck em. Yes!!!!

  • Poor Mr Reed,

A very sad man with a life threatening illness, alcoholism.

He does come across as pathetic, even though he is not.. The emotional maturity of a 5 yr old. RIP

  • Lol, i got the impression towards the end he was pulling the interviewers leg up and getting a kick out of it. Strikes me that he was a bit of a wind up merchant back in his day. But at heart a decent guy as well as a great actor! RIP Oliver!

  • A PURE GENIUS WHO IS REALLY MISSED.

  • I always had a thing for Oliver reed he was the sexiest man alive he was old enough to be my dad

  • 4:36- beyond, he brought a tear to my eyes. here is a man who drank and knew how to drink. here is a man who did it gracefully and was not afraid to do it dying gracefully

  • Without the accent, this tub is merely a drunken toad.

  • He's fucking legless! Hahaha

  • "I don't know where the shit i am" (downs drink), i regret i'll never be able to have a drink with this man. RIP Ollie x

  • if Oliver Reed Hands you a drink, you drink it, you don't hand it back!

  • anybody got an interview where hes sober?.....stupid question!

  • I still love Ollie

  • Best Reed film that I've seen = 3 & 4 Musketeers

  • Great actor great character the guy is so funny makes you wonder sometimes is he just over acting his drunked state suppose only he knew I love to see this side of him missed by many god bless you man.

  • How does the interviewer expect to get a decent interview by showing such disrespect? And does he really expect Oliver not to notice this? It's to Oliver's credit that he was as polite as he was in the face of such condescension.

  • @GoofusTV - Reed was being difficult, there's only so much the interviewer could do

  • How does the interviewer expect to get a decent interview by showing such disrespect? And does he really expect Oliver not to notice this? It's to Oliver's credit that he was as polite as he was in the face of such condescension.

  • I never really noticed Oliver, until I saw the Roeg film Castaway, and now I notice him in many great roles. Peace.

  • Anyone who takes Ollie's drunkeness at face value is a tosser, he is more often then not ACTING folks! Yes, he drinks....but he is lucid, witty and way ahead of you....all the time!

  • what a legend.. a true actor and gent of his generation..

sad to see his melancholia and addiction take over his personality like this...

  • What a answer to the question at 9:30 - FUCK EM HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHA

  • I wish I could have interviewed Ollie.... I'd have done a much better job!!!.... I think most people would have

  • Purely set up as a cheap shot and to gain some sort of notoriety off Olivers self destructive character. Using oliver reed as a kind of short cut to fame.....shame on all those people involved.

What is obvious tho is that oliver loved to be in the presence of working class people......he saw that way of life as the living truth and everything else as fake.

  • Facinating.

  • first 30 seconds is classic

  • having seen some other oliver reed interviews,i think the interviewer here was the best by far for many reasons. You can tell he had a raport with the interviewer and answered all the questions, maybe he wasnt totally paraletic, but he was drunk for sure, when oliver questioned the interrogator ,he moved on swiftly to another question or subject. Not scared i think, but really in terested.

  • Legend. Sad.

  • I wonder what ever became of that jacket he has on? A true one of a kind just like him! I would have crawled all over him! Sexy still even though he is old here! Had a crush on him and Yul Brynner!

  • The interviewer is the biggest cunt.... My god this is poetry..... I want to hit the interviewer with a fucking pipe. I'm a sick man who hears and understands genius, but acts in outburst of aggresion when left alone...

  • Who did this interview with Ollie? Has he committed suicide yet?

  • 0:47 i would've downed that shit without hesitation. this man drank with keith fuckin' moon. keith moon drank with ollie fuckin' reed. wouldn't you wanna be in the same category???

  • problem with all drunks they become self obssesed bores

  • what a cool guy ;)

  • Seen some of his films and in terms of screen prescence I can' think of anybody who gets even close. Those amazing eyes of his could tell you what was going on his head

  • pri gert mna, love u alwasy x

  • Remembered more for drinking than his movies. Wrongly so, as he was a GREAT actor of his time. RIP Ollie!

  • Weird...he has lost it Question What is a Charactor actor. Answer. Like the three GEEZERS staring at me from the bar. Mubbles " I DONT KNOW WHERE THE SHIT i AM!"

    Sad...

  • Ah, Ollie, Richards and Peter. What a bunch of unique human beings. I love em and I try my best to learn from them. Learn what? That life should not be taken too seriously -lets drink and have a bloody good time!

  • take ollie very serious indeed , he would brake every bone in your body , a very powerful man.

  • this interviewer is a complete and utter cunt.

  • @mjm8188

  • @mjm8188 He's such a cunt, that it had to be pointed out twice

  • This interviewer is a complete and utter cunt.

  • All i can do is wish that i was born 30 years earlier, i would have loved to see first - hand what life was like back in the 60's and 70's. Oliver Reed is a legend and shining example of none - conformity that we may never see again.

  • I have been thinking about Ollie for about three months now, as I have read many book on him and have watched many of his films and I have drawn the conclusion that he was a true legend of our Great Isles. He LOVED, LOVED, LOVED LIFE. He knew the art of "Having a Good Time" and knew the cost of such undertakings. He knew the consequences of his madness and he never apologised for being Oliver Reed, only for getting the dose or timing wrong of his deeds. He was a great man. Remember him.

  • I'm too inferior too be able to comprehend what he is saying, it all sounds like gibberish to me... :(

  • "......and if i'm wrong, then take it off my elbow"

Love him, watch this once a week, cheers me up no end!

  • Never said this before but I hate the interviewer, how dare he.

  • This interviewer is a fucking fool. Reed was such an intelligent bloke, wasted opportunity really.

  • Oh just love Oliver Reed.

  • too weird to live too rare to die

    one of gods own prototypes

  • Never even considered for mass consumption.

  • what a hero..ollie reed...such an educated man...with such a great outlook on life....one sip of a drink in this whole interview.. but yet its posted (drinking uncut)... he speaks from his heart..so much stories to tell and what a comedian....he's watching us all from heaven

  • lmao ! ! fuck em , sorry ? ' FACK EM ' what a true legend ollie was.

  • Comment removed

  • ollie is a legend, ok he had a drink problem that dont make him the devil, he was a tallented actor and thats how i like to remember him, thankyou. rip ollie.

  • Not true

  • Hate to see such a talented sexy guy end up like this - see the 1973 Parkinson interview for the real Ollie Reed

  • I would have loved to have got smashed with Oli Reed and Richard Harris, that would be a few days and nights to remember. Quality actors.

  • @unclepeter99

Have you read the new book out about oli and the others called Hell raisers, it's unbelievable ! There was something very special about Oliver Reed, he was a real one off

  • No not yet, have heard of it. Might have to get a copy for the xmas break while sipping some sauvignon blanc :-) thanks for the heads up.

  • You definitely should, its about Oli, Richard Harris, Burton and Peter O'Toole . I've only got eyes for Oliver but it's a great read. Enjoy your wine !

  • I will thanks. Hopefully with the book in hand soon. Cheers

  • the interviewer is a twat! he patronises Oliver Reed so much!

    WANKER!

  • i dont know where the shit i am lol

  • Didn't Ollie give the interviewer a drink of his own??

  • this man is a fucking legend he is missed bye many RIP

  • Oliver Reed like Errol Flynn - became a legend in his own lifetime.

Which of todays actors could aspire to be remembered as such?

Still a much missed colourful fragment in our bland lives.

    Cheers Ollie!

  • that comment sums it all up I agree.

  • @SirOllyBolly Old Olly was a great character, drunk as a skunk most of the time. He never admittted he was drunk, plucking nonsensical phrases from his mind as an answer to questions..he talked a lot of old bollocks really but was a British icon. We need more guys like old Olly.

  • @SirOllyBolly Robert Downey Jr

  • this interviewer is a prick!!!!!!!

  • For all his antics, Reed was theatre royalty, as his impeccable elocution might suggest. He was the grandson of Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree, actor and founder in 1904 of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

  • Who quite prophetically once played Caliban and was done up all hairy and wild and looked just like Ollie in his Werewolf costume!!

  • Ollie the one and only! Still the best, there will be never someone like him again.Human with 2 feet on the ground, and not afraid to have contacts with the commen people. So sorry I never met him, still I use to know his family. This interview you see a softer side of Oliver.Till we meet, then I will do the interview.

    RIP.

  • Hes some man.a true gent.he has the right idea.this world has become a sick joke so why not get pissed drunk.lol

  • sounds like a pissed prince charles to me...lol.... nice guy

  • you know he waved his fee for this interview, instead prefering a crate of special brew

  • it's all an act - he is an actor...when asked about films he responds cogently - when its not about acting he gives them nonsense. He is 'doing a Borat' pretending to be daft - playing a character in order to show up the daft interviewers...

    character actor

  • you, sir, are an idiot.

  • actually there are two schools of thought on this. one says he was an alcoholic and this was all real, the other says he was playing it up.

  • Yes he was a alcoholic(many stars are by the way), but there's always a meaning why they drink.

  • Such a wonderful speaking voice!

Compare it to the interviewer's voice under the same recording conditions - such a huge difference.

And remember, Ollie wasn't a trained actor so it's his natural speaking voice.

  • I find this video very reassuring in times of loneliness.

  • Bring a smile to their face.

  • 2:14

  • yes yes i am the interviewer so fucking what you cunt

  • YOUR STILL A WANKER THEN EVEN NOW.

  • You never heard of the "Big Bopper" and this is partially a music related interview?

  • @spallyman Holy shit! You were the interviewer? My god at 40 secs you get to have a drink with Oliver Reed! Very jelous lol! I bet its great to say that you once had a drink with the great Oliver Reed. Good interview by the way.

  • What is your own meaning of Oliver Reed. I mean did you like him or not?

  • My point is that Oliver Reed was a fascinating film actor, and this interview is conducted by a fucking dunderhead who seems not to appreciate anything other than his own self-importance.

This chump had the opportunity to talk with Reed, a difficult subject maybe, yet still fell into the obvious tabloid swamp of taking the piss.

    I hope you are ashamed.

  • Yup...I completely agree. The interviewer is a wanker.

  • What's even more tragic about this interviewer is that he didn't even know the film Reeds was referring to, where he played a werewolf. I mean honestly, if you're going to interview someone, do some basic research on their career; don't show up like a self-important pisshead with an over-inflated ego. We all got the blatant drinking joke when the interviewer continually said, "Cheers." But for shit sake, give it a rest and let the man enjoy his drink without your condescending remarks.

  • i agree, i found the interviewer very condescending. this man was a legend and the interviewer is so far beneath film legend reed.

  • Who is this snide insensitive public school boy interviewer? I want to kick his fucking stupid head in! And I'm a peaceful kind of guy.

Ok, it is 16 years ago, and so I admit the possibility that you are no longer as big a tit as you were then.

Even so, I want to kick your fucking stupid head in.

Ask questions... don't impose your own half-witted answers

  • When I die I want to rest eternally in a nice pub with Ollie Reed, Orson Welles, Richard Harris, Dylan Thomas, Marylin Munroe, Ingrid Bergman and Janis Joplin. The landlords would be Humprey Bogart and Lauren Bacall and all of the drinks and smokes would be free of course!

  • 'I don't know where the shit I am!!'

    Ha! Ha!

  • lol, he shared his drink even though this interviewer was an ass.

  • hello everyone i was the interviewer and i am very sad to see you disliked my technique so much. i am trying to hold back some tears actually,

  • dont worry about it mate- dont think anybody could interview him without it being very difficult, with somebody in a bit of an alcoholic state- i think you did alright really-

dont worry about all the fucking moaning twats on here- i doubt any of them would half as good mate

  • ARE YOU REALLY THE INTERVIEWER

    spallyman ?

  • fuckin legend!

  • The interviewer seemed to be out of his depth. His sometimes condescending attitude (maybe to compensate for his inexperience) didn't help. The only question that Oliver Reed took seriously was about the British film industry.

  • Poor Olly. Looks like he's burnt out most of his brain circuits on drink here.

  • The sound is slightly behind the picture, could you fix it so that it is more in time?

  • !!!!!!!!!

  • I would have liked to have seen Oliver and his mate Keith Moon interviewed together

  • So sad.

    Interviewers a total asshole.

  • Janstsmon - I agree with you completely mate ... why put such a f-ing crank in to interview such a legend ... maybe Keith Moon or O'Toole should have interviewed Ollie - that would have been good viewing.

  • Is the interviewer even aware of who he is speaking to? His lazily researched questions suggest not. There is a suspicion of a slightly sneering superiority to his tone. Very patronising- "cheers" etc.

Oliver Reed was a hugely complicated individual, demon and angel. Most of those blessed with real talent are. Super channel?

  • "did you play the werewolf?"

oh dear... the interviewer = moron.

  • I Tertally agfree wif yow pisserd up idiots RUKLE

  • HE WAS ALWAYS PRETENDING IN THESE APPEARANCES!!

read "evil Spirits" he was playing everyone!

  • Got to love Olly - never tried to be anyone but himself. The interviewers in my opinion always come off worse against Olly. Yes he had an illness but he never let him get him down or change him .. a great man. 'I don't know where the shit I am,'

  • I always get the feeling Olly is a split second away from punching the interviewers lights out!Edge-of-the-seat stuff from the late and truly GREAT Mr.England.

  • Agreed! Even though he'd have been 54 in this clip, he still comes across as being on the edge of controlling his temper - and that you wouldn't want to be around if he lost it.

They don't make them like this anymore. A great man greatly missed.

  • Thanks so much for posting, there is such a little amount of Olly interview footage out there, this is a treasure!!!

  • great interviews bringing up keith moon shows total respect 4 a legend from a legend

love the way oliy is having a laugh with the idiot interviewer all the way through

    oliy & keith 4eva

  • Honest and not really enjoying this interview.

I think the guy interviewing Olly is a little condersending at times.

    RIP

    Olly.

  • i love this guy!

  • Oliver Reed (1938-1999) R.I.P.

  • He toys with us, having seen it, done it, and indeed lived it, the repetitious questions he had heard a million times before, always charming, eclectic, and forgiving, we knew not what we had in a man like Ollie, the likes of which we no longer see, God Bless my friend.

  • "I don't know where the s**t I am!" :)

Wonderful stuff - thanks from sharing.
