I'm sorry I missed that. I was out of town at the time, but it's good to see that WLNS did something at least slightly classy. Reminds me of the nighttime signoffs I used to see on WKAR as a kid.
Something like that happened on KPIX-TV, the CBS owned- and operated-station in San Francisco. Mr. Letterman said, "Oh, I'm sorry ..." and then the screen faded to static. See the video posted on YouTube "Historic Moment - CBS 5 DTV Transition."
i wish they still did sign offs like this. now we're not patriotic anymore. this reminds you to be proud to be american every day

What a classy sign off. I half-expected WLNS to just flip the switch right in the middle of Letterman's top 10 or something.
