@Darklurkr Sonic isnt actually in this level in the regular game. If you play this level you play as Knuckles and he cant reach Robotnik.

@Darklurkr yeah, that's pretty funny, because you're not supposed to be able to get to this fight as Sonic. I guess the game loads all Robotnik Sprites as Egg robo fro knuckles and vice-versa as Sonic. So when Mecha Sonic defeats Egg Robo, it's pretty funny to see it happen to Robotnik

SHIIIIIT how did you get to Knuckles' Mecha Sonic? I tried so hard with debug. First I tried Taking Knuckles Way (With Sonic, Debug) In Lava Reef Act II, didnt work, I tried starting from Mushroom Hill and every level use debug to go through knuckles' walls, but nothing. How did you do it?

@turbotim33 You have to use level select, and using the character select (the numbers 00,01,02) 00 is sonic and tails, 00 is sonic, 01 is talls, 02 is knuckles. Using 00 or 01, go to sy sanctuary act 2.

Mecha Sonic has a HUGE design flaw that none of us (including Sonic) didn't seem to notice this long: Whenever he charges himself with power, he opens his torso, and a gem inside him sucks up the power. Now, if that gem is destroyed - which is possible, cause he's defenseless when he charges himself - he runs out of power, having no battery to power him. An easy win!

@Alf1XYZ Its floating with no master emerald because robotnik just took the master emerald, as you see from the previous stage in the valcanoe. Its power is draining slowly, which is why it is tilting back and forth. Eventually it would fall to the ground/water, but its a gradual thing. This is how I see it anyway.

When you play as Sonic in this level, Knuckles is blue because Sonic probably transformed into Knuckles but with blue skin!

For all of you asking the questions on how this works, this level is part of S&K and is only accessible with debug mode and level select (which is easiest to do with S3&K, but it might be possible with just S&K).

Kinda weird debug mode has to be on when this stage is 100% playable

It's just a little cutscene telling you you didn't get all the emeralds when you beat the game. They've been doing it since Sonic 1.

First time I beat the game and saw the correspondant of that cutscene on Sonic's storyline I thought "Shit, I've done something wrong" and went ahead and beat it with 7 emeralds. I was rewarded with this: watch?v=3uNfjhML8Lw

so I'd say Sega can get the message across.
