  • That ain't no prawn, thats a small lobster!!.. j/k .. That tail must be good.

  • Leader Prawn as stated before, not a Tiger.

Pretty good Prawn none the less, I have a photo of one (courtesy...West newspaper) weighing in at 1kg caught in the Swan.

  • This sure is a beauty boys, I am sure its actually a "penaius monodon"", or however its spelt. Known more as a leader prawn by fishermen.

We used to get a lot up in the gulf of carpentaria.

I was working in Port hedland in the dredging once and on night shift we came across a huge school of them right up a shallow creek in the harbour. I've never ever heard of them so far south, that one wont be on his own, so hop you keep the spot a secret as they congregate.

  • Thanks for the comment, This is the largest tiger prawn I have ever seen in the Swan River but we do see smaller ones from time to time. Would love to come across a school of these as they go about 4 to the kilo!!

  • Crikey I haven't seen one of those big boys here!! Only the Western Kings and rivers. Nice work, thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks, the big ones unfortunately are few and far between!!
