Many paths to enlightenment are there, this can be one. Remember, you are also unique, one's means might not reach to the same end for all, nor at the same speed.
Too much effort in being best, being the fastest, the most intelligent, the most stress resistant has been weighed down on the people. For you these should not matter, the only thing that matters is to know that you are, and all is as it should be. You are free to move in your life, without and/or within.
When I was younger I thought the women in the full black outfits looked weird, now I think it's beautiful and a blessing. I wonder how many country's practice this.
Like Christian TV evangelists yogic Gurus get rich ,have huge cult followings and all kinds of perks of thousands of followers treating them like god incarnate . The are trapings and temptations and corruption pitfalls every Guru will face .
When the master dies, we are left with his lineage's level of realization, which may not at all represent the level of enlightenment it first started with.
Though, certainly, would a yogi fall into pejorative statements? Would you not first take responsibility for your unyogic-states before pointing a finger at others?
To my humble observation, a yogi addresses the flaws of others only in a selfless, unemotional, compassion - an act of evolution, not one of personal disagreement.
I mean ...u come from gods when u are born ...ok .. ! When u die also go to god . This is what I mean . What is the purpose of all ....if already go to god ?
What you really are is not born and does not die. It is the energy of ignorance that finds a new body, death after death, life after life. As long you do not awaken to your true nature, you will actually not experience God, or in your terms "a return to God". Ignorance of your true nature will force you to return to a body. Yoga is a series of methods to free the mind of ignorance, it recognizing its true nature and awaken to divine unity.
Many people think that enlightenment is a supernatural state of union with God. This is a misconception.
Enlightenment is a natural state whereby the person enjoys natural life to the fullest. It is not mystical union with the God who created Heaven and Earth.
In Hinduism people have a different conception about God, they consider nature to be God, that is why enlightenment is called "God realisation". In reality it has nothing to do with the God of the Bible.
basically the guru and others expressed it already. the decision wether there is a need or an existence of a biblical god after the practice of yoga is up to the people themself. the hidden teachings are these to also accept shiva in the union. the union itself is shakti and shiva. both sides. where one can still relate there with god of the bible probably also likes the old concept of the naked woman..in the older scriptures , before vatican censory of course . *g* its all up to oneself.
Like I say: The words on a statement can take a varies of effect depending on the way those are express and the way those are perceived. That is the true meaning that "actions says more than words".Then again, the point of view is in the eye of the beholder.
this may be a nice pretty film.....although after 5,000 years of yoga, what else is new? what else has changed? is the planet any better off? are the people (even the ones that practice yoga) any more conscious?
1) Nothing is new in the world of the animal that is man.
2) Nothing has changed apart from more people doing it.
3) The planet is better off where it is done.
4) Yes the people are more conscious, completely so.
Meditative and Yogic traditions have always found the divine through the generic connection of the breath, breathed by the parasympathetic nervous system, and either movement, Yoga, Tai Chi,Aikido etc. or stillness, Zazen Buddhist for instance..
you've given some pretty quick short literal answers to questions that may be helpful to perhaps ponder a little. Also, if "nothing is new except that people are doing it", how can "people (be) more conscious, completely so"? Would you be willing to start to understand and see that "finding the divine" (i.e. any spiritual practice, religion, or modality) may be quite a different paradigm than being conscious and living as a conscious being?
The point is it depends on which questions are asked.
I accept readily that finding the divine and everyday common sense consciousness are different.
The world is built around the "I", in the UK some years ago our PM Margaret Thatcher announced that "there was no such thing as society.
Experience of the divine leads to the opposite of this.
The world is built around the total "WE" an "US" with no "THEM", and this is because the interconnectedness of everything is experienced as intuitively.
We are by our nature like in the beginning of time when the world was all one, so even nowadays all our well functioning parts are instinctively interconnected with all the rest of the world.
I have written a book about the interconnectedness of all parts of humans. I have written it inside the biological evolutionary picture of humans, so it could be useful for those who want a Western perspective to the subject, like many yoga practitioners in the West probably do. If You are interested in ti, please write to me...
Interesting to see yoga practiced from its Eastern origins. I practice yoga from an entirely western mindset for the most part. Where can I get access to this movie?
these days yoga is declared as the final possibilty for health and i think its absolutely overvaluated...
the voice of mister saffron robe is not relaxed.,he should meditate more and practise yoga and stop talking

Damn 3HO "Yogis."
You saw real Yoga before that loud crazy arm waving happened, the students before were quietly chanting not randomly waving their arms in the air.

@linuxva you know by yourself that you don't come from gods. the term gods and all around it is created by humanity.

There is but one God, however "IT" goes under many different names depending on which wisdom tradition you explore.
They are paraphrasing each other appart from Catholicism and Judaism, they're only interested in money and banking.

a peek into Pandora's box, the secret Guru?

The Dali Lama was once asked what the difference was between finding God and finding the self.
After deep contemplation he threw his hands up in the air and said "I don't know!"
The audience burst into spontaneous laughter.
In other words, does it really matter?
It is and there's one of it and we must be it too for there to be only one of it.
It's finding it beyond the veil of the self created ego centric perception of the self.
The timeless ever present conscious awareness.

I would like to salute John Brearley for having assembled, and indeed still assembling, a profound body of work.
He has consistently gone deeper then the shallow level that most documentary makers operate at.
His exposure of the intricacies of Eastern martial arts physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually has been a joy to watch.
His videos are a beautiful condensation of the core.
I am indebted to him for confirming my own findings and so probably are many others.
Namaste.
