Hey, could someone post an actual tutorial on installing for 5.5 gen iPods? Unless it's already in the comments and I didn't see it, I'm a bit confused. I'm running XP SP2 (and Ubuntu Feisty Faun...)

gahh i've got the same setup...5.5g macpod and i've been trying for 4hrs to try and install ipod linux. i installed loader 2, userland, and just stuck the kernel in the ipod root on my desktop and when i reboot nothin happens...

People if you want some real ipod firmware, get rockbox!  It is way better and it barely takes 3 seconds to load and has a lot more plugins

rockbox is gay, u can only use the songs from iTunes that are $1.30 instead of the 99cents ones, and the $1.30 ones are for only about 1/3 of the songs!

yeah you have to manual install, and after that its all laggy (for me) I would say its not worth it, but its worth it to put loader2 and rockbox on

it doesnt screw up ur ipod but if the apple employees or whereever you bought it from find out u had linux on there, it stops ur warrenty.

i had rockbox and i showed it to this guy at apple and he was a BITCH. hes like oh so did you have any questions or did you just want to show me that. and i was freakking playing pokemon silver! how often do you see random people playing pokemon on there ipods!! and hes like ive never seen that before

wrong again.......search the ipodlinux wiki page for ipodloader 2.5 and thats the one for 5.5gs
