  • one of his best songs and one of his best versions.

  • @magoosa18 - I agree, I always loved this song, this piano version and the Thunder Road version from London are amazing. Both songs "Growin' Up" I could always relate to.

  • I played this song the exact same way in my school talent show. I won. The day after I had to play it to the whole school. Best moment of my life.

  • @thanksbruce09 Can you send me the sheets, please?

  • @margotte111 I learned it by ear. It's in Bb. Thats all I can tell you. Sorry.

  • Springsteen, The Boss, Mr. Springsteen is able to set you, through his voice, his expressions, or just his beautiful, larger-than-life music, in the story he's singing. It doesn't matter if you're Italian, from Sweden or Jersey shore, or if they don't call you Spanish Johnny, you're inside this simply astonishing story. You can feel his voice right beneath your soul. So, we can all call him Bruce, simply, straight, amazing.

  • i saw him play this at glasgow!! was singing my heart out! wish he played this version though.. i would've been in tears!

  • what dvd is this from?

  • barcelona

  • thanks! im gonna get it for sure

  • Barcelona

  • @DGog224

The dvd is live from barcelona

  • this is possibly my favorite springsteen song of all time: takes me right back to summer in the late 70's. my life is better for springsteen being in my life.

  • has to be one of the greatest live perfomances on youtube without a doubt (even tho its a dvd rip lol) seen it full band in glasgow and was a great moment 4 me personally.... long live the boss

  • Who can say men have no feelings? After listening to this... I can hardly speak....

  • 3:27. Tens of thousands of fans, captivated, An incredible image.

  • Bruce is the best, no matter what, like totally amazing like, iv seen him twice so far, BRUCE YOU ROCCCCCCCKKKK!!!!!!!!

  • i always thought one of Springsteen's greatest gifts was his ability to tell a story in his music and this song is a prime example

  • saying that this is one of the greatest songs ever written is an understatement

  • Like so many of springsteens songs sounds better live than the album version. I was also at the hamden Glasgow gig, amazing :) Wish he would release another live album like the one in 1986

  • The Boss did this at Hampden Park last Tuesday night, was stunning and heartbreaking to hear live.

  • if anything brother.. underrated

  • agreed. i thing most of people see bruce for works like born in the usa, and never heard a song from his first works like the album from wich this song was taken (the innocent the wild, and the e street shufle), and born to run, for example

  • exactly. all my freinds, all about 16 years old, (im 16 too, no worries haha), all dont like him, and its just cause they only know bitusa. this is the bruce that i love tho man

  • SO incredible, he is one of the few artists that sounds better live than on the record

  • allermooiste van den bruce gasten

  • Grandíssim!

  • Grande Boss..siamo tutti dalla parte di johnny..lo Spagnolo.

  • what an amazing piece of music.

this song is so springsteen isn't it.

love both the band and this version of incident.

it's impossible to have a clear favourite springsteen song, as there are so many , and they are all about different aspects and times in ones life.

but this gem of a song has to be in your top 2 or 3 .

incredible songwriting.wonder what would have happened to spanish johnny in springsteen's mind??

  • I agree with you about not being able to have a favorite. It changes. For the longest time my favorite was The Promised Land, before that Thunder Road, and now it's Land of Hope and Dreams. Others were Bobbie Jean, No Surrender, even Waiting on a Sunny Day for a while.

I like Land of Hope and Dreams, probably because I love the way Max drums in the middle of it. Just so powerful and it fits with the song, etc.

  • the final words are fantastic

  • Gotta love the smile at the end, very proud of a good performance.

  • best thanks, this song everyday!

  • Best Boss tune in my book.

  • Must add this again! so right!

It's so beautiful and powerful even though its a short and simple little story about a man who goes down into the darkness it's so emotional and touching i cried the first time i heard it it's trul a masterpiece and the best part is that Bruce has done several amazing songs like this. He is truly he boss. Ullevi the fifth see you then my man

  • this is the first song of my intro to Bruce in '73. I had an uncle who came back from Vietnam he use to make me listen to this song with him when he stayed at the VA hospital while he recovered from PTS. I was 9 years old and my uncle would break down this song and NYC Serenade for me.I knew all about Rosalita!!LOL!!. I was into Bruce way before a lot of my friends thanks to my uncle. We always see the Boss when he hits town. He is just so powerful!!! Thanks for your post ZeroBlindTerry..

  • Beautiful solo by Bruce.Great song. What a Talent.Truly once in a lifetime.Plays guitar, piano, harmonica, very dramatic vocals and one of the greatest writers of lyrics ever. His talents are incredible.

  • An awesome song.

I prefer the piano version and this one from Barcelona is just beautiful.

These kind of songs just won't be written anymore...who could?

  • i really like this piano version it so dramatic

  • the look on his face at 7:32, when he knows he killed it (in the good way), is priceless.
