Yeah the breed known as Ugly Ripe tomato is not a common type and it normally goes for 3 bucks per pound. But they are the sweetest type of tomato around. The reason you paid so much for them is because they may have been organically grown but 9 buck is insane.
Unbelievable how can they charge such redicoulous prices I would have been peeved off also very funny blog though not funny about the prices we grow our own here investing in a hot house are we to grow your exspensive tomatoes lol Di(happydi) Australia
Oh my lord!! I am glad I don't like tomatoes! The price of those tomatoes is actually quite scary and sure angers me! Is this what the near future holds for the price of food?? I sure hope not, it's hard enuff for folks to afford food to begin with and I don't even have children. I can only imagine what it's like to be a parent and try to make end meet! Pray for America, it NEEDS it!!
Nope. Smyrna, Tennessee. Like I said in the vid, I'm not singling out the Publix food chain. I love there stores. It's just the price of Ugly Tomatoes are high everywhere. I just did pay attention to the price per pound.
I asked the wife and she said it was $3.50/pound here and that most of the tomatoes we get are from Canada which we are close to. We do have a lot of farms around here but they don't grow tomatoes.

To be honest, they were great tasting tomatoes. Hell, they should for that price.
At that price, I should be worth..... 1.5 Million dollars! Plus some change.
theSMYRNAcowboy 2 years ago
Did they at least supply lube since they were bending you over?
Standard/Hothouse tomatoes go for $0.99 - $2.99 lb here. Only "organics" break the $3.50 mark.

Wow! TSC pissed off! And who could blame you.
You shoulda got in the store managers face and vented. That way you could've gotten your moneys worth.
My wife does that and manages to get the manager to give her a discount.

Wow, I couldnt imagine 5.00/lb for a damn tomato. Think I would be looking for a local grower somewhere in town..
Wilks89 2 years ago
Well like I said, it was really my fault. I didn't check the "price per pound" thing. My thinking was, "I need some big tomatoes"
Male mentality I guess.
