there`s used to be a Washigton sculpture that was very similar to Zeus (same pose: pointing at heaven and holding a sword) that guards the athens parthenon, right? why do they took it away?
They took it away because the public disapproved of it. It was semi-naked and the idea of George Washington portrayed in this way uspet the public. It was therefore initially moved to the grounds of the Capitol, but it continued to generate controversy, so finally it was hidden away in a musuem.
the reason of moving GEORGE WASHINGTON ZEUS was that the people start messing with the posture and commented that mr .washington is in an urgent need of clothes, then it became a controversial issue..after that it was moved to SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE.
@abuelodelmal Your are correct and thanks for making that point. And if I may add to what you said, the Apotheosis- the moment in which a man becomes a god- is the opposite of the advent. The nativity scene recognizes the advent of God becoming a man.
