DT is infinitely more technically proficient than DF, more musical and much better live too,to confess,Im a fan of both bands,but see thing is DF may be only good in the studio,that doesnt mean they can't WRITE good music!Sure DT puts more meaning in to each note,but some songs(not all) like soldiers of the wasteland are actually great!I have stopped listening to them and moved on to DT, cos I have become more hungry for technicality.However,without DF,I 'd never have started on guitar and DT.

I just don't get why people get so mad about Dragonforce. I like both bands. I realize DT is a lot more professional than DF but DF is really starting to make an effort and hopefully now that they are getting a new singer maybe they will be trying to be more like DT.

But just because they aren't as good as Dream Theater (cause, who the hell is?!) doesn't mean they suck. And they really don't.

I read an article with Herman Li and in his words, "I can't play any of our songs because I don't know them yet, they were all recorded in 8-second spurts". ok to ppl who compare dragonshit to DT... dragonforce play their songs very slowly in the studio and then speed it up, during their songs you hear guitar sounds that are not natural, and live they always improvise beacause they cant play their version as it is. now DT, they change time signatures, the songs they play are very complexe and most of the musicians cannot play it or even attempt it, and lastly, they have theory and technique as drangonforce barely has technique. that is all.

How the fuck can you compare Li and Petrucci anyway? They play 2 totally different genres. In prog metal, the lead guitar is meant to hold some sort of melody in it during solos. In power metal however, the rhythm holds the melody, while the lead goes as crazy as possible while still staying in the scale for the most part.

They are both fantastic guitarists, and Li is way too good to be in Dragonforce. He needs to join a different band.

I think LaBrie sounds better nowadays than in the Live in Tokyo concerts. He's got much better control over his voice, it seemed those old concerts his voice was all crackly on the lower/mid range notes. Now he can hit the low and the high notes with accuracy and power!
